I think this is wrong and the source of confusion. The FAQ says you need to go from Google Play for the code to apply.
People are going to do the checkout and have to fight for something they were never targeted for. Customer service doesn't seem to understand what's happening. They're probably assuming people legitimately were offered this deal.

A freebie third is also the fact that I was so hesitant to complete the purchase that they offered to send me an email so I would have physical proof that I am going to get the deal. Telling me I shouldn't worry because even if it fails to show after completing the transaction that the email is a garuntee customer support will honor it if I have to call back. There's no excuse for misleading people in to a purchase, especially if they don't know what's going on with the deal like you claim. It's either negligence or fraud. Both are inexcusable.
I had service outage(s) almost daily. My best speed after everything averaged about 5 mbps (at 3AM). It took 2-1/2hrs to get an Amazon confirmation one day.
I'm tech savvy enough to know the troubleshooting drill for myself. But dootifully replayed it all over & over again on command. I made every contact w current stat updates & continued to get treated like I was an idiot calling in for the first time.
After weeks of their so-called support I was told that the towers in all the zip codes of both my surrounding states were just bad. :/
That would be the same towers that my Google Fi data has clocked speeds of 100+mbps at "rush hour" congestion.
It was $10/mo & I finished the 3 mos to let my referral have their bonus. But never, ever again.
Tello & Redpocket give me the same animosity as you seem to have for Fi. I think we all have one of those lists. Each justified by their own litany of horrors.
Unfortunately internet & phone providers really are just a necessary Evil.
KayOttic said that they had trouble with it, but it worked well for me. I couldn't tell a difference between Tello in my region and Google Fi. YMMV. It's cheap enough when the promos come around that it's worth giving it a shot.
The $19 Unlimited plan promo just ended, but they should have another one soon.
But the billing page says my -75% promotion is in progress & did even before I activated. Before my actual billing. Whenever I got billed it said how much for my full plan, taxes & fees plus the amount deducted for my -75% promo.
My referral bonus is also listed as being in progress. But it hasn't activated yet.
You have 30 days to activate. Anyone who has the time can wait it out until everything is corrected.
This guy just tried to do what you said, and Fi told him to go pound sand:

From published stats & past experience I already knew Tmo was just fine even though I live in a city & in a geologically challenging location.
Tello messed up the gateway protocol for my profile. As soon as there was any traffic in the area I got bounced. Basically I was always throttled.
Instead of fixing my account they just blamed the carrier. They wouldn't even send me a new SIM card even though I asked half a dozen times.
No more drops & my speeds improved immediately once I ported to Fi. A couple of weeks ago I got an unlocked Moto G Power 2025 5G from Amazon Renewed. Just clocked 222mbps in a rainstorm.
Thank you Google Fi.
