BP oil spill. People are paying attention NOW, aren't they? *mad face*

Unless my "search" button is broken, I can't find any threads about this oil spill.

Aren't there some Loungers here from the Gulf Coast area, besides myself?

This thing is going to be bad. Really bad. Sadwalk

I grew up in Pensacola, FL and have spent my whole life on these beaches. Pensacola, Gulf Shores, Navarre, Destin ... they are beautiful. And they have already suffered so much devastation over the years from hurricanes and now they have to endure THIS?

If this goes on long enough and the oil makes it's way into the Florida Keys, that will be the end of the natural coral reef habitat. What about the dolphins and fish and turtles and birds?

Environmental disaster aside, I can't even imagine what the economic impact is going to be. Weeping

not to be a douche, but if the US court says wiki citations is ok why give the guy a hard time about giving out information?

would this have made a difference if he linked it from the US Dept of Interior's report about this incident?

I, as well as 99% of our country, don't see a reason to boycott any of their companies at all.

They don't have to give $20billion to anyone, but they did.

They are only responsible for $75million towards the clean-up, but they are footing the entire bill.

Nobody has to hire lawyers and sit through years of trials, BP is taking care of them.

BP is doing everything the right way. What more do you people want from them?
Iagree

Since the spill started I have filled up my tank (usually once a week) at BP stations every time except one and I will continue to do so as long as it is convenient.

That's cool. The next time a tornado, flash flood, or blizzard hits your neck of the woods I'll just point and laugh. When your State's major industry starts going under I'll stock up on the foreign imports that fueled its decline. Now we fully understand the rest of the nation's apathy since Katrina.

Who laughed? Show me one post where someone in this thread laughed at this tragedy.

Besides, my state's major industry is money. So good luck with stocking up on the foreign imports. Let me know how well those Euros work out for you down there.

I live in Michigan; what more damage could possibly be done? What are you gonna do, send us a bunch more Democrats?

If BP goes under guess who gets stuck paying for the cleanup and the damages? Taxpayers. I want BP to be making as much farking money as possible so they have no excuses not to pay.

Who's in charge?

Could it possibly be our brilliant and fearless leader?

Obama: My job is to get this fixed.... I take responsibility. It is my job to make sure that everything is done.

Personally, I want to see everyone who let this happen hang.

The Gulf is farked for a long time to come, especially with the extreme amounts of methane that are present in this particular geyser (somewhere in the neighborhood of 40%, as opposed to 5%, which is the typical amount/percentage of methane in an oil deposit).

Sounds like they finally came up with a plan that has a great chance of stopping the leak completely.

They figure putting a large wedding ring around it will almost certainly cause it to stop putting out.
