This MSI Codex Z2 is a ready to use 1080p gaming desktop that stands out for the RTX 5060 and sub 900 dollar pricing. The GPU alone is cited near 500 dollars, and the system is described as a strong value for current games, with room to add more RAM later. The main knocks are the 16GB memory, the Ryzen 5 8400F being a low end AM5 chip, and the 8GB VRAM limiting longevity in newer AAA and Unreal Engine 5 titles. The long Walmart return window adds some cushion, making it a practical starter tower if you want upgrade headroom without paying for a higher tier build.
PC gamers who plan to upgrade later, because the RAM can be added and the platform leaves room to swap the GPU or CPU.
Shoppers who want a sub-$1,000 gaming desktop with decent current-gen value, because the bundle is repeatedly described as a strong deal for the price.
1080p gamers wanting a ready-to-play tower, because the RTX 5060 and Ryzen 5 setup is described as a good price for that resolution.
Buyers who want a long return window, because the system can be tried now and sent back if a better deal appears.
Players chasing high-end 1440p longevity, because the 8GB GPU and low-end AM5 CPU are described as weak for newer AAA and UE5 games.
Heavy multitaskers or modded-game players, because 16GB RAM can be tight for niche heavy modding and larger memory builds are preferred.
Linux gaming tinkerers who want SteamOS, because the Nvidia graphics card is said to need a Radeon card for SteamOS right now.
Productivity users needing four-monitor support, because the Ryzen 5 8400F has no integrated graphics and the display setup may depend on the discrete card.

And I'm not going cling to the 1060 comment, I get that it was a throw away statement. The only thing I will say is that a 1060 wont even load up Gears of War E-Day (current AAA game) and a 5060 would struggle to hold 60fps @ 1080p. New UE5 titles with nanite and mandatory RT are going to be very hard to run for lower end builds even on low settings.
It's just that it doesn't make sense upgrading anything in this build and a PS5 pro would perform better. The power supply is only 650w, the motherboard has weak power delivery/VRM and doesn't even support PBO, the GPU barely beats a 5 year old 3060Ti and only has 8gb of VRAM, The CPU is worst possible CPU on AM5 and trades blows with a 5 year old Ryzen 5600.
For anyone who is looking for a PC right now, I would recommend looking at the used PC market but I get that's not realistic for everyone.
I want to upgrade my desktop to play it and would like to know if I upgrade to the "RECOMMENDED" specs then how likely will it be able to handle the next Gears game after E-day? Don't want to spend too much.
Ryzen 5 1400
MSI 350M Bazooka Mobo
Rx 580
16gb ram
1080p 240hz Alienware monitor (planning to game in this or maybe in 2k?)
Thanks
