Yeah that is what I'm thinking. I really wish there was a way to see how many hours were on the panel or if there was burn-in before taking it home

I'd say yes, it could be. I'm not sure on recent policies from best buy regarding warranty replacement (especially under the included policy with their total membership). I tried buying a JVC projector from them 2 years ago and it had like 3000 hours or something crazy on it and the bulb was end of life... They were not giving nearly enough discount on it. I want to say after I returned it I don't think they even tried to relist it when I told the guy how many hours it had.

Fwiw, I just bought an open box "excellent condition" lg g5 77" that had some small scratches in the anti glare coating. Looks like it happened when someone tried cleaning it. Annoying because it should have been marked "fair condition"

It had 600 hours on it

If I remember correctly there is a way to check how many hours it's been on but it requires an older Sony remote with numbers on it. I did it on an open box A95K from years ago

It's an excellent model but you better be able to check the total hours. The Geek Squad protection plans for 2-yr is $160 and 5-yr is $280.. so if you want the 5 yr warranty to cover you, you're still looking at nearly $1700 for a used OLED.
