Costco's boneless USDA Choice ribeye is a solid midrange steak buy, with the sale price landing below recent in warehouse pricing and below many local grocery store ribeye prices. The cut is praised for thick portions and the ability to inspect individual packages for marbling and fat before buying. The main cautions are that quality varies by package, some cuts run thin or fatty, and Costco's pre cut steaks are blade tenderized, which means they should be cooked to 145 degrees for safety. A practical pick if you want ribeye and are willing to sort through the case.

At costco, choice primal ribeye used to be like 11.99-12.99 and prime was 14.99 and that cost jumped by a few dollars. Last 29 days ago, it was around 16.99 for choice. I decided to buy NY whole strip for 12.99. Yikes

I buy my streaks from Costco and was very disappointed to learn this. You have to cook blade tenderized steaks to 145 degrees so if you like your steaks medium rare, you should not buy from Costco

You are correct, you do not 'have to', you only 'should'... For blade-tenderized steaks, the USDA recommends 145°F internally plus a 3-minute rest for food safety.

Because the blades can push bacteria from the surface into the center of the meat, a rare or medium-rare center is riskier than with an intact steak.

Not sure what point you're making but my point is this should be labeled that it is sourced from Argentina, which is not currently happening. If people want to risk consuming beef from a place like that, they should be made aware of it and not tricked into consuming it (thinking is it US beef) because of poor labeling standards.
My point is in relation to the FDA being cut by 20%. They were already stretched thin before being DOGEed.

What's normal price? Costco app already showing $14.99 only.

Doordash>Costco is showing $16.68.
Mentioning because last week had a great Doordash>Costco Slickdeal. Doordash members can link Costco membership and get 20% off first delivery order:

Yes, at least here in Southern California, Ralphs, Vons, Ribeyes are $7.99Bonein, $9.99 Boneless on sale every other week. The quality of Steak at Costco is nothing special either. I buy meet from Costco all the time, usually brisket, ribs, hamburger, steaks, ribs, chicken. Never buy a tritip from Costco, its a rip off. Buy what looks good and is on sale from wherever.

I appreciate the posting of this deal since I shop at costco frequently. But if it's normally 18.99 and now on sale for $15, isn't that just a low 21% discount? Hardly seem slick to me, plus I have to buy in higher quantity than intended because it's costco. Good deal, but not slick deal.

That seems about right for Texas when we lived there a couple of years ago. I do know beef is much more expensive on the east coast and $12-15 lb is a typical sale price for choice at Food Lion, Walmart and Publix. Fresh Market usually has really great deals on better cuts but you have to watch the sale bills. TBH we rarely chase deals any more on proteins because they are all so expensive any more and look for expiring marked down packages in the store and plan our weekly menu accordingly...
I agree in Texas at Tom Thumb or Albertsons or Kroger. These deals are routinely under $10 per pound for RibeyeI have two boys in our 20s and we routine to get three ribeyes and three baked potatoes. The big ones for under 30 bucks. You just have to look at the flyers.

pretty sure it was mixed into the ground beef supply

anyone know if these ribeye's have been 'micro-needled'?
Unless its flank steak or filet mignon, all pre-cut steaks(including the ribeye) at Costco are mechanically blade tenderized. that is why the cooking instructions on the label says to cook until the internal temperature is 145 degrees (medium well)
