In wire and cable there is a Cert called an RCDD...registered communications distribution designer...to run all that physical layer for your packets to traverse upon...

The test has like a 60% fail rate...but the guys that pass it are either really smart...or can study for a test...or really lucky at taking a test.

Some of the dumb ass stuff they suggest or put into a scope of work is just laughable...a lot of times they have no practical experience what so ever...and I think this is pretty damn similar to your rant.
The ones I respect these days are the Cisco certs (besides the CCNA which I understand is the A+ of the networking certs) and the security-related ones. Otherwise... they're all suspect anymore.

I know over 1/2 of this thread's regulars hate the tech talk but I had to brag a second. Flex I just figured out how to deploy an .msi to a single subnet on a client's domain... I got a project to install Trend Micro to all 75 workstations, only problem is, they didn't bother to tell me they have 3 sites! And no separate OUs for the computers @ each site... so AFTER I'd written the .bat to uninstall the old client, install the new one, write a .txt file to the root of C: (so it won't run every single time the computer starts) and reboot - and tested it and confirmed it works (this was a good chunk of my afternoon yesterday) - the client says "oh yeah, can we just do Falls Church tonight, and Gainesville & Richmond tomorrow and Monday?"

Facepalm

So I frantically Google some ideas and find a single blog with a script that checks the host's IP against a .txt file with an example, and if it matches it runs. woot Altered it to my purposes, deployed the GPO, hopped onto an unused computer remotely & rebooted it - BANG the script runs fine (it was set to abort if the subnet didn't match) and I've got it made in the shade. Cool

I know batch scripting is going the way of DOS but I felt pretty damned proud of that bit of work - the whole project of course but the last-minute save @ the end especially - and show me how you do THAT with .vbs or a GPO! (hint: without separate groups or OUs you can't, and I had NO idea which computers were at which site - for a minute I considered pulling DHCP lease info on all 3 sites but my laziness won out & I found a better way). I guess PowerShell might do the job, not sure. Dontknow

You might consider an estate appraiser type of person...there are companies that will even sell stuff off for you...like a super deluxe garage sale...take a % of the proceeds, etc...

Once in a while I stumble across one when I'm out Garage Saleing...

I'm taking Jamie and Jack to the dr this morning. Check ups and 6th grade shot for Jamie.

Gotta clean house today. If anyone wants to come swim today, they're on their own.

It's already 90 here. The heat index is 100. if I actually went outside to swim I would probably just Blowup

I have a few errands to do, mostly a trip to Aldi to pick up things that were too expensive at Kroger yesterday.

You can, but you will have to go alone. Frown

So...we've been dealing with Jamie's BO for a while now. Like 3-4 years. It's like really strong onions. It will go away a little while after he showers and puts deodorant on, but it comes back. His room reeks. The dr walked in today and smelled it immediately. He is sending him to an endrocrinologist at Vanderbilt. He is very concerned because Jamie's also 5'6 1/2" (although my kids are going to be tall...Nick is 6'2") and that he's had pubic hair for a year. He's 11. They are supposed to make the appointment for him. He thinks it's a horomone problem. I guess they can treat it with meds. He also wants his pituitary (sp?) gland checked. I don't know how they do that.

Comfort I'm glad the doc is following up! I'd call the endocrinologist and ask if they can order the blood work they need before they see you, so they have the results when you show up. Save a copay. Rock

It's another blood test I think.
