DC. an SSH server is easy-peasy to set up, you can Flex your new linux muscles too (I'm going to use apache + openssh I think) so the hardest part is the hardware (and I have a couple leftover servers sitting in my basement that I "acquired" from a previous job - they were throwing them out!).

My buddy did his in a day, I use it whenever he remembers to turn it on laugh out loud It's nice not to go on the firewall and see all my browsing traffic LMAO the only other concern is if your public IP is dynamic then you have to update it from time to time but even the changing public ones stick with you for a few months in my experience (my FiOS WAN IP has been the same since September!).

So, yeah, it's a nice thing to have, provided you're either in charge of your work network, or they don't specifically ban SSH traffic (some places use that as a fire-able offense! Bigeye).

I've got a few older boxes I could use to put 'nix on...and I do have a dynamic...for 5 bux a month they will make it static...but I thought I'd try no-ip (IIRC) will give me a static route to my dynamic server's IP addy.

If I get it going and it works well...I might add that extra 60 bux a year to my dsl bill...but until then...we'll just save that $$ for now.

Hell...I still need to migrate to 2k8 SBS (if I had a spare quad core I'd go 2K11 instead).

I went to Walgreens, then picked up a meal at Captain D's with the free birthday dinner thing they sent. Boy, that's just grease on a platter. laugh out loud But it was FREE!! I was thinking about doing that, but I've been too lazy laugh out loud
I actually already have a server I could use, I just haven't installed/configured anything for SSH.
