This 14 inch MacBook Pro pairs the M5 chip, 16GB of memory, and 1TB of storage with a steep Costco price cut, free shipping, and Costco return and warranty coverage. The Pro screen, ports, and fan cooling make it appealing for heavier multitasking, development, and creative work, while the 1TB drive adds extra headroom. The main concern is 16GB RAM, which can feel tight for large browser sessions, Office and Teams, or more demanding AI and development workloads. A solid value if your workload fits the memory ceiling.

  • 16GB RAM can be sufficient for office work, web browsing, and light Python or under-1080p editing tasks.

    freshsqueezedbobreddCapeto

  • The 1TB SSD option supports workflows that need more local storage for files and projects.

    Itechnofreakifyfreshsqueezed

  • Costco pricing undercuts Apple's direct pricing while keeping free shipping on costco.com.

    Itechnofreakify

  • Costco's 90-day return window on computers and an extra year of warranty add purchase protection.

    Itechnofreakify

  • The Pro configuration can help avoid throttling during heavier workloads thanks to the fan.

    CC1478

  • 16GB RAM can feel limiting for multitasking, which may lead to disk swapping during normal use.

    fintlewoodlewixFrshh23

  • Running the Office suite, especially Teams, can cause memory pressure and poor performance.

    a_land

  • Local LLM use may require far more RAM than 16GB, with guidance pointing toward at least 128GB.

    bobredd

  • Some MacBook Pro configurations can experience intermittent freezing, which can affect day-to-day reliability.

Costco has the 14" MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD (MDE14LL/A, item #1945139) for $1,349.99. Apple charges $1,999. It's on costco.com with free shipping, and most warehouses have it at the same price, though stock varies. The limit is 2 per member. You get Costco's 90-day return window on computers and a second year of warranty. The new M6 version just launched at $1,999, so this looks like a clearance price.

It all depends on a user's needs. The last MacBook I purchased 2 years ago was an air model with only 8GB RAM and I had to return it. 16GB is more than enough for my needs. This is a great deal, though, especially with the 1TB hard drive.

For 1350 it's absolutely fine. For a good local llm you need atleast 128gb. Get this for 1350 and get Claude or gpt subscription for 20/month. Rather than buying 32gb for 2-3k.

I'm getting memory crunched by running the office suite even, it's incredible how bad teams is for performance
