Ooma Telo Air 2 is a simple Wi Fi home phone replacement that works well for keeping a traditional landline number alive. The service is described as reliable, clear, and easy to use with existing cordless handset systems, and it can also send voicemail alerts to a cell phone or app. Long term ownership stories point to years of steady use and meaningful savings versus a cable or carrier landline. The main tradeoffs are ongoing taxes and fees, no battery backup, no text messaging, and possible port in charges. A practical fit if you want a low maintenance home phone line.

Seems like an expensive replacement for Google Voice and an old unused cell phone that everyone has laying around.

Ooma is a good choice if you want a decent, dependable replacement for a old school landline. If you only need a cell or a google voice account then you have no need for this. But Ooma is a good choice for people who want something simple and want a traditional landline phone replacement.

Got this a little over a week ago to replace a wifi tello 1 that needed to be powercycled multiple times a week, cause it kept giving no line errors. So far the new device has been working flawlessly so happy with the purchase. As for the service works great and you can even use it from your mobile device, it saved my moms house in the almost 10 years we had it a ton of money over ATT. If she didnt need the caller ID feature it would have saved us a ton more.
I have the same problem, since phone line didn't work, so it won't ring and the call will go to OOMA and people can leave voice message to OOMA, since 99% call are sales call, I don't care that much.

It wasn't called Telio, but Hub. I've had mine for 18 years and it still goes strong. I did buy a telio YEARS ago for when this one finally dies, but it's still in the box and never used. I probably will not use it because I'm so used to fee-free and I have the Obihai with GV as well but never use that line really. I have too many phones and rarely talk on them.

Edit: Forgot to mention, although not relevant for this deal, AmEx has for some cardholders one of their offers for Spend $70, get $50 statement credit when purchased through the Ooma site directly.

Thanks. Looking for a potential land line replacement that will continue to work with our existing 6 handset Panasonic cordless phone system. We have cell phones, but want to maintain our landline. Currently using FIOS for landline and TV and Internet, but might change it to just Internet.

You have better and cheaper one to recommend?
1-VoIP. I've been using them since June and have not had any issues, and no hidden charges.

I still have an old Obihai Obitalk OBI 202 adapter running with 2 GoogleVoice numbers which used to be a "landline" and a fax (what the heck is that???) [which cannot be setup new any longer since the service retired years ago]. So far still working though the only calls I make are the ones every 90 days to keep the GV active. ;-) With wifi calling and proper 911 setup on your cell largely obsolete.

That said, for elderly folks or people with hearing issues, the voice quality is largely better than via cell phones, at least that's what my parents say. If they have to make an important call with a doc or anything else really important, they will ditch the phone/FaceTime/WhatsApp and use their "VoIP Landline", even though technically it goes all through same the Internet. So, don't discard the use case just because you are young and grew up with smartphone.
Still using my 202 too. What to do when it tanks???

I have a few hubs still operational around the world, and I have a telo grandfathered under lifetime premiere with no charges and fees. I'm an ooma customer for life lol.

The amex offer is good, I'm thinking about picking up some hd3 handsets or another bundle from ooma to have a spare for myself or friends / family.
