There was a time when people cared more about the message than the grammar. The apostrophe wasn't used widely at the time because the English language wasn't standardized at the time. They didn't have MLA and APA formats or anything like that. Plus, all of the flags back during the revolution were hand made. It was a waste of time and resources to put the apostrophe in there, and of the very few original flags that survived, most if not all didn't include the apostrophe. So.....I could either get it done to appease the grammar nazis who don't care what your message is as long as it meets their grammar and formatting expectations, or......i could get it done with accuracy and adherence to the history. I chose the latter.

In short, I chose to keep it historically accurate.
