Mine was too. A London Fog trench style, tan wool with red lining. Washed just fine in cold water, then hung on a coat hanger to dry. And I do mean a coat hanger, as in the bigger made for coats kind. I have a red one that I have washed and I'm pretty sure it's wool too. Don't wear it much, I'd have to check that one to be sure.

I've never used a duvet cover. What keeps the comforter for sliding around inside and getting all bunched up?

The bedding that DD is replacing is a comforter, so if it were dark or heavy enough she could use a duvet and use the old comforter inside.

Just bought a big A Beka lot on eBay for my oldest. She's set for the year- geometry, govt, history, English and Biology. I have no idea why the seller had a buy it now for $49 for the texts. quizzes and answer keys but it was my lucky day.

gt, the duvet cover I used had fasteners in the corners to clip the comforter in so it didn't move around.

I have a duvet cover on my Laura Ashley comforter. And it never slides.
I remember in college my roommate had a cover on hers and she had to unslide it all the time.

what i learned: if you buy one in the correct size, and a thick/heavy-ish fabric where the edges are proper fortified square edges, the comforter fits nicely into those edges. you just have to make sure you put it into those edges when putting the comforter into the duvet cover. and then it doesn't slide. it stays well ensconced by the edges. but if you buy a really thin cheap-o duvet cover and one that is too big for the comforter, it will go slip-sliding everywhere cos the fabric doesn't have enough heft, and the cover doesn't have enough snugness to hold the comforter in place.

That's my dissertation on duvet covers and I'm sticking to it.

I wonder if they didn't know what they had? It was starting bid of $29, bin for $49. For once it was a good thing that I was kind of slack on getting books so I could chance on this good deal. laugh out loud I have books for the younger two all set, I just needed something for the oldest.

I used primarily A Beka for k - 8 for my son and really liked it. There was one exception -- World History. He hated it, I hated it, we chucked it. Funny thing is -- his bachelors is in political science and he has taken several classes and done a lot of studying on his own about world religions. I would have used it longer but he pretty much dropped out of hsing in 8th grade and started college.

I had wanted to use A Beka before but it was usually out of my price range. Embarrassment We have a few scattered texts that I bought at a homeschool book trade but buying a whole grade level of texts was usually a whole lot more than $60 shipped, even for used.

No, I'll look for that. I've bought on eBay, from a homeschooling site that I can't even remember where it was now, and in person through a large local homeschooling group. Which reminds me, time to sign up for the new school year again.

Every year when the Rainbow Resource catalog would come, I would dive in and be occupied for hours.

Baby is sick, I think I have a cold, barely shopped though I continually intend to get out, but my coupons are finally organized. Okay, they *were* and then I went and printed some from coupons.com and its going to be shambles here again.

I don't know if there's much else to report.

Wave Howdy strangers!

Just popping in (not pooping in) on day 4 of our beach vacation to say hi, and that I'm going to need a vacation on my own once we leave here. Took DS back into town today for his open house and swung by the house. Realized that they put in a poured concrete driveway and we were supposed to get pavers. DH left a message for our site supervisor and emailed the owner of the company directly. Then he made lunch for him and the baby and put her down for a nap. By the time he had a chance to check messages they had already called back to say they had ordered the pavers and that it would be fixed. Gotta love good customer service. Then our site supervisor (who I love) called and told DH to tell me that it was just a "temporary" driveway that he put down so I wouldn't have to walk through the dirt when I'm coming in every night to see the house. THAT made me laugh. Oh well, this is the first snafu we've had so far so I really can't complain.

Ok, I'm working with the slowest internet on the planet so I gotta scoot. Hope everyone has a nice long weekend!

We had one before and nothing kept it from moving around. DH hated it cause the comforter would end up at the bottom.every.single.day!

I used to always buy my books at the beginning of September from Ebay.. seems like the prices drop once most people start back.

I have used Vegsource before. But mostly Ebay.. and if I buy new, which I had to this year on some things, I always order from rocksolidinc
