umm, okay then sir. what is it about people that they feel the need to say something or the other to you if you're on crutches/with a walker/wheelchair/boot? don't they realize that the people having to use those devices are just as intelligent as those not using them, and hyperaware of the discomfort/dangers/inconvenience they face? shake head

L2B... it is indeed a cost of living thing. as mortgages go, 1300/month wouldn't even get you a tiny studio apartment mortgage around here. not even a basement studio with no kitchen. not even a basement room with an attached bathroom. nada. i'm always amazed at areas of the country where entire homes are about 100k, cos my neck of the woods a "cozy" (translated: tiny) studio would be in the 300k-350k range. Facepalm
Sorry about the rain and your having to get around on crutches hug I hope you can get all of this behind you soon GG.. You have suffered much too long heart

I do know cost of living varies so much.. I can't imagine paying that much for a tiny place EEK! What state are you in? California? Just curious..
Heck, the market has killed housing prices and we could buy a house the size of ours currently and probably pay only 800-900 a month.. of course, we already have a house that we would not be able to sell thanks to the same market problem, so that doesn't help us Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) Our current mortgage is in the 1250 range.. We don't have a super expensive house by todays standards.. but it isn't small either. We have 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna run a few errands, and one tiny little grocery store run. Giant has Better Oats BOGO, plus there are .55/1 IPs, so makes it very cheap for yummy oatmeal. I figure it won't be too much hassle to do that. And the little girl I'm babysitting has a mommy who loves coupons almost as much as I do, so she is very much used to the whole shopping scenario. laugh out loud

And isn't this rain something else? I'm happy for rain on the one hand, but several days straight is quite enough, I should think! I'm hoping the skies stay clear enough Saturday morning - I'm doing a sale at my sisters' house and would love some mostly dry weather.
is better oats instant or cooked and how does it compare to quaker old fashioned instant? SNS should have the same deal. i will eat oatmeal for breakfast when it's chilly out. over the last few yrs i've moved from the quaker instant flavored ones to plain instant w/ dried fruit like raisins, cranberries, blueberries and/or cherries. one yr i bought the double pack from costco but it takes me way too long to finish a double giant package. 2 yrs ago i did the once/yr shoprite deal of 5 packages but still way too much oatmeal for me. need to stock up again but i have to do it in smaller quantities. a few yrs ago my cousin made steel-cut for me but i know i'm too lazy to cook it for one person every morning. dh refuses to eat oatmeal.

i have all this yardsale stuff that got wet and i'm in the midst going thru it and cleaning it up and i'm tempted to price it now b4 i pack it up. but i think the reality is that i won't be doing a yardsale this yr since i want to repaint the basement floor and reorganize everything and then i need to clean and powerwash the garage, paint the bilco door, etc, etc, etc. i just don't see it happening.Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) but now all the stuff is nice and clean!

wave I'm around. Been overseeing as DD lines up some of the stuff you do when you buy a house. Going to run into town today and wire the money for her. (She works nights, sleep part of the day)

Cleaned the house yesterday. It never really gets very messy or dirty but geez, I looked around yesterday and that just wasn't the case! So, other than the tub, the house is clean. I guess I should get that cleaned too.

I also need to get some glass cleaner when I go to town. I had glass cut for the tops of my end tables. They are solid maple and a little expensive and we are hell on tables so I wanted them protected. Anyway, brought the glass home and I am out of cleaner so I have smudgy new glass on my tables. And, no, I won't even try using anything else. I cannot clean glass. I have used every remedy under the sun and the only thing that I can use and not have streaks is aerosol spray foam cleaner. And I'm out. I can clean this 6' x 5' picture window in about 30 seconds and it's perfect every time.

I misread the $335 as a house payment for a month, versus a week.

I guess because we live in no-where land (SW MO) cost of living is alot cheaper here. Which means payrate is low too. My dad owns several rentals and rent is between $300-400 a month. Most of those are 2-3 bedroom and 1 bath. Of course our town has a population of 3,500 ppl. lol We have to drive 35mi to the nearest walmart/target or any other significant store for that matter.

This month seems to be crappy already. Seems like someone always wanting money. lol We are planning a yard sale this sat. for a few hours. Hoping to make at least a few hundred dollars. Need to make a list of some things that need paid..not bills per say, but trip money for my son's school trip (first installment $125.00...that is one payment of about 7 due thruout the school yr.), paper shredder (i killed mine), and a few other smaller things that need bought/paid for. Things that I really don't want to take money out of savings to buy/pay.

Better Oats is instant oatmeal, but a healthier version. Some flavors include flax seed. I think all the varieties are only 5 to a box, so it wouldn't overwhelm you. I really like all the flavors I've tried, except the chocolate. Not that it was bad, it was just weird eating chocolate oatmeal. Dontknow

That's so awesome for your daughter, to get her own place! Are you looking forward to her moving out, or will you be sad?

So slowtech, you were totally right. I went out, got my errands run, picked up my daughter from school and dropped off the little one I was babysitting, and as soon as we got home, it was pouring again. Big Grin Perfect timing!!!

My SIL had her baby pretty early last week on Thursday and we went to help them out. The baby girl is pretty cute and very tiny around 4 lbs and born on her 32nd week..SIL came back home and the baby is still at hospital and expected to be back at home in a month...
We drove 7 hrs as far as seratoga springs and too tiresome...

I am getting excited over the next set of coupons.. I have been to T only once, and that too it was not futile trip with the cashier all over my coupons and linking every single item to it Nono

Neither one, really. Having her living here isn't a problem. She isn't messy and does help out if asked. She works a weird shift -- leaves at 4:40 pm and gets home around 2 - 4 am depending on overtime -- then sleeps til around 1:00 in the afternoon so most of the time I barely know she's here. I do try to hold off doing really loud stuff, like vacuuming right over her head, while she is sleeping. She is only moving a few blocks away and I have no doubt she will be in and out regularly -- and she'll be bringing her dog back and forth so that she isn't cooped up in the house alone since she's used to a fenced yard and a doggy door.

Now, her brother, on the other hand... as much as I miss him, it was a bit of a relief when he moved. I just wish he hadn't moved so dang far -- ~ 4hrs. away.

hugGG, I'm very sorry for your loss.

Kay, p&pt that your niece grows quickly so she is able to go home soon.

flugette, I bought the Better Than Oats brand at the commissary. Dh was the only one that would eat it. Embarrassment The chocolate was... weird, just as you said.

Photos, good luck with the garage sale!

I've never seen someone go through this process so quick! You are lucky that everything is working out, it must be so exciting.

Aside from the driveway snafu, it's been a great building experience. Luckily, the weather has been cooperative.

i couldn't find the better oats in the SNS circular and i couldn't find the ip either. but i will keep an eye out for it.

didn't take my own advice. went out in the afternoon and it was starting to rain. dropped off #5 plastic recyclables at whole foods, bought nasoya tofu w/ wfq and ip, kettle chips w/ ip even though it wasn't on sale for bff's bday, then supermarket, then target where they didn't have one bag of frozen peas of any brand whatsoever and barely any frozen veggies, so then i had to go to SNS to get the frozen peas. all in the rain but thank goodness it was never heavy.

now it's raining pretty hard and i hear the thunder. and there is water in my sump pump pit but i don't think the pump has started to run yet. humidity is way to high in my basement. i definitely need to buy a dehumidifier. of course there is none at the target near me.

thank you so much kay! basement is going very slow. what i really want to do is look for free and cheap clothes but i need to try them on. store was closing when i grabbed the fatq white jeans and black jeans so i didn't try them on and they are both kinda big. i got them at the neshaminy store. i went back the next day b/c they had extra 30 off clearance that never happens at my stores but didn't get lucky. and all the black jeans had disappeared by the time i got backConfused. i wouldn't mind going back there to look for clothes. they have much more stock than the stores by me. i need to go to a well-stocked target anyway to buy storage bins that will fit inside my plastic shelving units.

i have some toys from july toy clearance i am going to return b/c some don't have very good reviews and others i just have too much of. if you'd like, you can see what i have b4 i return them. i think i have gift receipts for most if not all and i'm sure i can get them. if you are interested, i can email you what i will be returning and what the prices are.
