Hi to everyone!

I've been spending the last hour or so reading different articles about my hubby's aunt who was in the World Trade Center. I am so sad I never got to meet her (we officially started dating Sept 13, 2001, so I had not met any of his family up to that point), because she was such a beautiful woman, both inside and out. She was a woman of faith who not only believed with all her heart, but also lived it. All the wonderful stories her brothers and sisters have recounted of her paint her as a caring, loving sister who would do anything and everything to make her siblings happy. Even my husband, his favorite memory of her is when he visited her one time, she got up early and went outside and washed his car. Just because. I love every one of his aunts and uncles, and it makes me so sad that I never got to meet the one who meant so much to each of them.

Not to make everyone sad, but I just wanted to share my tiny part of this anniversary. Hubby does not enjoy talking about the events of that day and so I guess I'm sharing with you all just to get it off my chest. hug

It's officially my oldest dd's 15th birthday. Man I'm feeling sadly old. Frown She's excited because soon, she can start driver's ed. I'm actually a little excited about teaching her to drive.

I asked her what she remembers about 9/11 and her response was that she remembered getting in my bed in the middle of the night, and watching the events in NY live. We were in Hawaii at the time so it seemed weird to be middle of the night and yet we were watching these horrific events that were in broad daylight. Sadwalk Dh was at his command, and they sent all boats to sea within days, just in case.

hug to all those that lost a loved one on that tragic day.

Sorry to hear your story. Did she work in the building? I have no personal connection to anyone there, but did watch it unfold on TV that morning, couldn't tear myself away.

She was on the 97th floor of the first building that was hit. They never found anything to identify her at all, so she almost certainly died on impact. So very sad.

I posted this yesterday in the SF Chat thread.

There was a new song on the radio (or a remake of an older song) that has a small girl growing up without her Daddy (as if she lost him in 9-11). Little victories for her she would tell her Daddy in heaven about.
I was bawling Crying on the way to work. It's very touching.

thank you hon for your prayers and encouragement.

i dread the thought of another 6-8, however many months of pain and immobility and relearning of every movement, and rebuilding of muscles.

but then i think of the alternative and i am very grateful.

a friend's mother once told me something her Rabbi had taught her, that "hope is the greatest thing we have as humans. without hope, we are nothing, without hope life is nothing"

i often turn to those words in challenging moments in my life. and i remind myself that hope is a reflection of our faith in a greater power that watches over us.

so with hope i travel. and i hope one day soon to tell you guys that i am pain free, and moving, walking, dancing, hiking, biking, rollerblading and running again normally.

GG - I think nerves are very slow growing and can be very painful when they start mending themselves. I researched this a little bit when my husband got surgery. Right about the time when you recover from the pain of surgery - you can start with the pain of nerves growing back.
In my husband's case -we had him take plenty of vitamin B - and the doctor subscribed neurontin for nerve pain. But it still hurt.

somehow i missed several posts, so going back and replying.

thinking and praying for all those who lost loved ones on 9/11.
very painful to see.

my neighbors have a visitor and now he's standing outside their home talking to them. and talking to them. and talking to them. for the last 20 minutes. and LOUDLY. if you've got so much chatting to do, how about you just go back inside? laugh out loud what's the point of standing with the door open and talking so loudly that no one around you can get any peace and quiet?

...I have an appt. with an allergist tomorrow. Yay! I can't wait! I'm so tired of feeling itchy and yucky all the time!
ank, i have many of the same environmental allergies you listed.
they had recommended shots for me, too, but you know me... i said no. laugh out loud

my allergist is AMAZING.
he recommended a few simple things to get my body to defeat allergic reactions.

so he said the theory is that we have so many toxic chemicals in all our products and commercial items these days, plus so many pesticides, that all of that is ending up in our air, water, on our trees etc. as we inhale/ingest/come into contact with these chemicals, our bodies are reacting, and those reactions are manifesting not only as allergies to the chemicals themselves but as allergies to the objects that carry those chemicals. so for example grasses, pollen etc coated with some chemical, or corn/soy that has been genetically modified to included particular bacteria/pesticides etc. our bodies end up reacting not only to that bacteria/that pesticide, but also the soy protein, or the corn protein, because that is the carrier. many of those toxic chemicals are inherently

tough. and frustrating.

but there are simple things you can do in your home to reduce exposure to those chemicals and allergens. and since you spend a lot of time in your home that will be a huge help to your body.

1. get hepa air purifiers for every room
2. use a hepa filter vacuum
3. only use washable bedding (that includes pillows, blankets etc), and use special allergen covers for all bedding. they recommended a company called "mission allergy". wash every week. never unzip that covered bedding in the bedroom.
4. get allergen prevention mattress and boxspring covers. steam clean both mattress and boxspring and then zip seal into the cover. never again remove that cover.
5. eliminate highly fragranced items from your personal care line as well as household candles etc, because fragrance allergies are common and a natural progression for those with environmental allergies. (and it sucks, take my word for it).
6. use low voc or no voc paints, adhesives, primers and varnishes.
7. eliminate vinyl products

(basically anything that vaporizes and releazes organic large-molecule compounds are going to irritate)

hi guys. i am desperately looking for some rcpts for a rebate. does anyone here have rcpts for heineken or dos equis, please? i don't drink either of those, but am required to send rcpts for those along with grocery rcpts.

1. $10 in ice and/or bottled water AND 2 12packs of heinekin - can be separate rcpts. i would need upcs for the heineken, too. purchase can be between 7/15 and 9/15

2. Rcpt and upcs for 2 12packs of Dos Equis - can be between 5/17 and 9/9

ideas, please? i'd be grateful.

thank you guys for all your love, support, encouragement, prayers. i am very grateful.

jteef, yep exactly. they were going to try neurontin, but then said let's try something less strong...

so they suggested a second generation tricyclic antidepressant. it hasn't been approved for pain relief by the FDA, but doctors frequently use it for that. apparently it depresses nerve signal firing through the spinal cord. you can only take it at night because it slows down all your functions. but supposedly it would help with nerve pain while the nerve regeneration process continues over the next several months.

i haven't decided yet whether i want to take it. there are so many side effects. and that freaks me out. i don't need something messing with all my bodily functions and my moods. it's been known to make people seriously suicidal and very anxious/agitated. that's the last thing I need right now. they said "well you're not depressed and you're a strong, intelligent, optimistic person, so it's not an issue for you." Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

how was neurontin for him?

i'll be talking to my PCP tomorrow to get his thoughts on the TCA Rx. sigh.
also hoping to reach my homeopath to get remedies to help with the nerve regeneration and nerve pain.

i will ask my doc about vitamin B/ a B-complex. thank you for that tip!
i've also read that studies found taking vitamin c helps. they don't know why, but research has shown a clear correlation. guess what's getting consumed multiple times a day? ester c. Big Grin

Question, I was using that Merona bottoms coupon tonight, and it beeped on all my items. The coupon is $5, items were mostly $4.48, so this might be the reason for the beep. However my Mossimo sp? coupons adjusted down to the two items I had for $4.48

The Merona is a nice coupon, but does it beep on everything it would be for? Luckily the cashier did K1 at a usually very strict store, I got very lucky and they were closing. I got 6 Merona items, and I didn't care about overage, I would rather the coupon just adjust instead of .52 overage (not worth a beep), one of my items was $2 and some change, so the overage was nice there, but I don't think most of my cashiers are going to K1 that. I thought that I could go to some other stores and look for some nice clothes for gifts, but I hate the beepers. I was doing the Ore-Ida deal, and the Trident so I was trying to get all those coupons together.

Also does the Whisker lickins beep on the Salmon, but not beep on the Chicken? That is what I think I got tonight. Also I think it may have beeped on the hard Tuna ones. The Fancy Feast BOGO said item not there and then made the cashier enter the $1.44 price, so also a PITA. My cat can't have the Chicken anymore (diet she is so sick), so I got her a few Tuna, and Fancy Feast Beef treats, but of course both TQ beeped. Uggg! The Chicken doesn't beep, but my cat can't have that kind, but I have someone who will have 3 very happy cats when she comes over for a grab bag including many Whisker lickins treats. So cute! Of course I am still waiting for my treat MQ coupons to come so I only had a few of those to use, but free is also very good.

Hum what else? Oh yeah the Ore-Ida stuff at my store was $3.39 per bag. So high I only bought 6 bags. The other store had more I got 12 bags, and they were only $2.99 each. The stores around here seem to be re-doing the food sections, and they have less food than they did. EEK! One store for sure went from being practically a grocery store, to just having a few rows of food like a regular Target. Anyone else seeing this? Anyone else finding the Ore-Ida for $2.79?
Love the Merona and Mossimo coupons too heart My experience is this.. Mossimo has been beepless and autos down to anything I have bought in the womens dept, but beeps on the mens clothes.. so I think Target meant it for womens, but didn't print it on the coupon Wink The Merona coupon has been beepless on everything I have purchased.. but, they have all been over 5.00. I got some capris that were 6.xx, some shorts that were 9.98, and some other shorts that were 6.74 today.. all beepless.

The whisker lickins has been beepless on the chicken and cheese pouches each time for me..

The Orieda were 2.79 for me last night.. Got 6 last night before the TQ expired..

I can't keep up with everything these days either.. I do remember reading that the new YAF has a 2.00 off cereal coupon and there are a few kinds that are the correct size and on sale for 2.99.. so with a MQ, ends up being around .50 a box..

I personally don't remember seeing anything I just "had to have" when I looked at this weeks sale. I am gonna use some RC I have from last week and that is probably it..

But, I haven't read thoroughly, so maybe TN or sunshinemom can chime in here soon and give us any other good deals Wave

Had a wonderful day yesterday.. DH threw me a surprise birthday party. Lots of family and friends from church were there to celebrate with me.. Ended up eating way too much food, some yummy cake, and received some really nice gifts including starbucks GC, target GC, red lobster GC, and some other things.. Plus, DH got me a new Keurig bounce I am so blessed with a wonderful husband heart

I'm glad someone replied besides me.
Free Trident layers gum from the new YAF because it isn't marked $1 each...still use the BOGO Trident Layers TQ.
TGIF Singles are 50¢ this week with the $1 MQ and the $1 PQ from the Toss for Cash
25¢ Pepperidge Farm Goldfish because I oops'd and gave them the 75¢ TQ that wasn't good on goldfish crackers Angel Not
Philly Mini's were a good deal in the LOD, if you had the 50¢ printable (that's no longer available) made them 25¢ after Q.
Degree Deo with the GAF makes for cheap deo.
Sure deo for 35¢ each with $1/1 MQ

everything else to me was kinda ho-hum...maybe sunshinesmom's got a better list than I do.

What happened to Kraft Qs? Last year I was swimmin' in cheese. This year, I've had to pay big $$ for it.
