but we have 20 bottles of white, and 6 bottles of champagne at home.
plus an assortment of cognac, scotch and many other hard liquors.
i tested out the theory last night and tonight. 1.5 - 2 glasses of white wine a night, after hours of pain.
soon after it got decidedly quiet on the pain front - not pain free by no means, but far less pain than i've had in months. no drunkenness. just far less pain and a mild buzz i guess.
my PCP is getting a call tomorrow to chat about wine vs antidepressant.
could be pretty cool to have a doc say "drink up"
My oldest turned 15 today, youngest turns 4 on Tuesday so it's a busy week around here. Next weekend, we're going to Hershey Park for our birthday celebration.
HAPPPPPPPPY HAPPPPPPPPPPPPY HAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPY NON-BIRTHDAY setsail!
who cares about the middle aged nonsense? it's just a number to write on a form. you're as young, beautiful and precious as you allow yourself to be.
and plus, we love you no matter which birthday it is.

if you explore the press links, you will find articles about other gourmet food trucks in nyc. i'm normally there on the wknds and eating w/ family so i haven't been chasing them down, but it will be sample sale shopping season soon and bff is working in midtown again, so i may be going into the city on wkdays and will make an effort to check them out. if i go w/ bff into ny, the bus will only cost 13.00 round trip. if i go by myself the bus costs 20.00 and parking 4.00 unless i park closer to home but i only save a couple dollars but spend about an extra hr plus on the bus round trip. i did that when there was no parking available but since the economy has been bad, there's been plenty of parking for the last 3 yrs.
oh look, last to post, first to post. wake up sleepyheads!

But, thankful that I only have a 2 day work week
I am sipping my coffee and watching Dora while DD is playing with her dollhouse and "not watching Dora" even though she begs for it on the TV

i've told italy sil many times to tell me what dvd sets she wants b4 she comes so i can order them for her and she never does and ends up paying full price!
so saturday nite at dinner i asked her for the list of what she was intending to buy on sunday-
glee season 2 vol 2
gossip girl 4
brothers and sisters 5
private practice 4
ugly getty 5
desperate housewives 6
true blood 3
mad men 4
damages 2
vampire diaries 2
grey's anatomy
sunday i looked online at the circular and guess what? glee and grey's anatomy are on sale this wk at target. luckily she didn't get those yesterday b/c they are dropping tomorrow
gossip girl 4
brothers and sisters 5
damages 2
vampire diaries 2
and probably paid full price so i'd estimate she's already overpaid by at least 40.00 minimum, probably way more! sigh!
she did like the crayola on the go glow stations i gave her and the crayola pipsqueaks i bought last yr and forgot to give her as well as all the various card games i'd accumulated over the last couple yrs.
1. one neighbor pressure washing
2. one neighbor using a shop vac to clean patio furniture
3. one neighbor leaf blowing
4. the city jack-hammering and high pressure vacuuming simultaneously right in front of my bedroom window
5. 2 front end loaders forwarding and reversing and forwarding and reversing, complete with grinding sounds and loud reversing beeps
all of this happened in tandem.
it was so loud i couldn't think, couldn't feel myself breathe.
shut all windows. put on 2 layers of headphones, wrapped my ears in a towel.
nope, still couldn't hear myself.
shall i send them your way? (or any other sleepy person's way?)
maybe they can try the 4.5 hour mind-numbing cacophony they unleashed here. it has just stopped about a minute ago, and so i decided to say hello.
but i've completely forgotten what else i wanted to say, thanks to the crazed loudness.

go to half.com....
they used to be an independent site, ebay bought em a few years ago.
anyways, people list used sets there, and also dealers and non-profits who buy out brand new overstock/closeouts list the new sets. they have books (textbooks and regular ones), dvds, cds. all for much, much, much less than retail.
and each has a condition list beside it, so you can choose the newness/packaging level. i've made several purchases on half.com over the years and never been disappointed.
they've just begun again.
somebody, please just.shoot.me.
I use to frequent this place called TCC and then summer came and I totally abandon ship. I left them hoochies mama's in the dust...
I went on to enjoy the splendor of summer. Now that the chaos of summer is over..I went back to the TCC biotches only to find not one of them missed me...
Enough with the drama....missed you gals.
DD and I started scraping walls. There was a lot of loose paint (probably from it not being heated last winter) and some places where some moron had done some plaster patching and apparently thought that the more tape and mud you could smear up there, the better. Geez, the "repair" job looked far worse than the small cracks that are an easy fix. Scraping is done, need to do a little sanding in a few spots, and then I will start patching holes/cracks and filling nail holes. Good, Lord, they either had 10 things hung every 5 feet or nobody has every filled a nail hole in that house. She is really anxious to get to the part where you actually start painting.
She isn't going to have a lot of time to work over there during the week and most Saturdays. She is working 10 hour days, then add in drive time, getting ready, etc. and she gets off work at ~ 4 am. I may do some odds and ends over there during the week. It's ok with her, but she doesn't expect me to.
Other than starting over there, nothing much around here. Gonna shut down the pool this week and I'm counting the days til our fishing trip.
.....i'd be able to pee and poop, which is always a plus if you want to be part of this thread.

Hmmmm
Must we call the hoarding show? TLC will send someone right out.
peeling paint....
get one of those lead paint test kits BEFORE you do any sanding.
if it is lead paint, you do not want to sand it. you will end up spreading superfine lead dust all over the place. that stuff embeds itself into the house and the body, and a very small quantity is enough to poison a person. very, very very hard to remove once you get it everywhere.
you may already have spread a lot by doing the scraping.
and make sure to get yourself masks.
wine... naaahhh, no hoarding. some of the champagne is fine champagne, like dom perignon, cristal etc. stuff that you'd want to keep on hand for a long time and for a special occasion. the wine, about a dozen bottles are from a trip to a faraway winery that makes special fruit wines. we got a discount for buying at once, and no shipping, so got it while touring the vineyard. and the rest are just assorted imported wines from italy, france, south africa, new zealand, etc that we got to have with dinner etc.
before the accident, i entertained a lot, and went out a lot. and several nights a month we had a glass of wine or two with dinner or after dinner. so having 15-20 bottles at home was nothing, cos we used the wine so regularly.
since the accident i have hardly had anything to drink because i was on all these pain meds and i didn't want to mix things.
but frankly, i'd rather just ditch all the meds, and enjoy a glass of fine, hand-picked wine, with a nice meal, if that helps the pain the same. atleast it will taste good and i won't be harming my body.
i did feel much better both saturday and sunday nights after having the wine.
