a few hours ago one of the 2 patterns was already sold out. so if you want it, you have to pay a premium

it's fashion week so there is heightened awareness. also all the largest issues of fashion mags for the yr just came out. i'm sure there were ads for target in them. i saw the tv ads last night.
I have seen the ads in my mags, but you're right about fashion week-totally forgot about the timing of the 2. I read on FB that people were hoarding them into carts to sell on ebay...I won't be buying from ebay....that's just wrong.

Count me among those who had no idea what Missoni was, much less that Target was going to start selling it today. Thought this story [sfgate.com] about how sales went in our SF Bay Area might interest some of you.

Add me to the list of people who had no idea what Missoni was.

To be honest it looks like a combination of Native American patterns/Chinese finger trap toys/South American bracelets. Or what a pastel clown pukes up after a long night.

But I guess I'm just simple and naive to these haute couture items. I wonder if you can get a discount on PBR with each purchase...

ya'll wake me when the M%%^%ini discussions are over in the deals thread. ZzZZz Target doesn't even sell clothes I can wear.

I'm wondering how Thrifteh's diet test is going on her boys (not that she's experimenting or anything....)
I agree with both these statements. I'm so sick of reading about that stupid line of clothes. Although, they did have a few extra high school boys cashiering tonight because of the increased traffic at the store. Evil

Wave Thrift - where are you?

Here is the full Missoni for Target line [fashionista.com] if anyone wants to look (sorry if repost).

Sorry - this mama will avoid these designers duds. Although some are cute I learned when I was little that horizontal stripes are BAD for the butt.

I think it's really cute. I'm usually a t-shirt and jeans girl, but I have a soft spot for hippy-ish looks and lots of color.

Im a bit disgusted by the idea of purchase strictly for resale on the bay.

While I understand the immense appeal, I just find it ridiculous. The entire point is to bring an up until today non attainable designer for the masses TO the masses at a fraction of the cost---not rack up the cost and thus make it unattainable yet again.

and thats the same seller, who sold the first one FOR $950, now saying $950 and the reserve hasnt been met shake head
I say the "wannabes" can pay whatever they are selling on eBay for. Never heard of Missoni, don't need "pink" or "juicy" plastered on my butt and I certainly don't need to pay double the price for an item just for the privilege.

If you are such a fashionista that this is so important, shell out the bucks for the real thing. These items may have this guy's name on them, but they're coming from the same sweatshops that Merona and Mossimo come from. I have no sympathy for what someone may have to pay on eBay to get one.

One thing's a fact, I bet your Grandma could knit you something identical to any of these clothes. ....and what's worse you'd look at your Grandma like she was crazy thinking you'd wear it.

these are the real deal.

as to whether resellers will be disappointed, we'll just have to see. fashion is fickle. but i wouldn't be surprised if some items end up being collectibles since they are limited edition.

for everybody else, i wouldn't rush out to buy anything unless you really love it, it's a fairly expensive piece by target's standards and looks distinctively missoni. more or less what you love but you think is ugly anyway. the cheapest items will not retain their value b/c they will have the most supply and look the most generic.
You totally missed my point, but whatever. Think what you want, I'll be grounded in reality.

I'm not really sure why people are surprised about the reselling and shelf clearing on the Missoni. It has happened at least twice before on the Target designer collaborations.

A side note, but even "Made in America" doesn't mean made on our soil. Several brands, including Hanes have sweat shops in Jamaica that are technically located in American free ports, so they can carry the "Made in America" claim, but not have to follow any US labor laws or employ US citizens. Life in Debt is a good movie and is (or was) available in Netflix.

FYI - I was just able to open the Target site for the first time today. Took a peek at the Missoni just for kicks. Most of it was so not my style. Oh well to each his own.

OMG my fave fleabay entry is this one here [ebay.com]. Not only is it a BABY onsie, but it clearly shows the price tag at 24.99, which for missoni baby is NOT bad. but check out the listing price. shake head
Wow! They had those left at my store tonight, exact size and everything. Who is crazy enough to pay these ebay prices?! EEK!
