How does this stuff sell in KC? We usually have stuff after awhile here in Topeka.

ya'll wake me when the M%%^%ini discussions are over in the deals thread. ZzZZz Target doesn't even sell clothes I can wear.

I'm wondering how Thrifteh's diet test is going on her boys (not that she's experimenting or anything....)

yep, page after page of that I just skimmed!

Hey TN, is the cereal deal only for this week at Publix? Do I need to get RC tomorrow?

I say the "wannabes" can pay whatever they are selling on eBay for. Never heard of Missoni, don't need "pink" or "juicy" plastered on my butt and I certainly don't need to pay double the price for an item just for the privilege.

If you are such a fashionista that this is so important, shell out the bucks for the real thing. These items may have this guy's name on them, but they're coming from the same sweatshops that Merona and Mossimo come from. I have no sympathy for what someone may have to pay on eBay to get one.
agreed. in this circumstance, you are paying for the name and the design but the material and quality are not included.

You totally missed my point, but whatever. Think what you want, I'll be grounded in reality.
we all got your point. the reality is somebody paid $950 for a $399 bike today.

I think it's really cute....

I agree. There are several things on there that I think would make for great pops of color in an outfit. Visually speaking, I want. drool

BUT, I'm also a stickler for quality. Cheaply made clothing with rough fabrics, seams coming apart, colors running etc are not my thing.

And I'm not one that cares about advertising brand names - so for me, if I pick something, it has to be because I love how it looks and I love the quality.

If anyone here has gotten any Missoni stuff from T, I'd be so grateful if you could comment on the quality. Is it better than the standard line of clothing T offers? the same? like certain T brands and not like others? I don't expect it to be as fine as an original Missoni. But I do expect atleast some of the pieces to be of far better quality than standard T fare. Is that the case here?

I'm asking because I won't be able to go to a store to check it out and would have to rely on online purchases.

Thank you!

The clothing seems to be pretty decent, though I didn't try anything on (perhaps someone else can comment on that). I would say they're worth their price and if I didn't spend all my time at home working on a computer, I would have bought some pieces.

I would stay away from many of the accessories though- I was shocked at the poor quality of some of the pieces.

I am going to try and check it tomorrow. The style stuff doesn't go quite like that in my neck of the woods, so we will see. I know my cousins said some of the other designer collaborations they bought at Target seemed to be better quality, but I don't know which lines they were referring to.

Yes, everything in this collection was made in China...just like Mossimo and Merona. But what isn't these days? Coach bags are either made in India or China. Yet, they still range from $200-$800. If they were made in Italy or France like Gucci, Chanel or Louis Vuitton, they'd be in the thousands. As far as sweatshops go, I wish they didn't exist. But at the same time, all of the third world countries vie for the opportunity to have these sweatshops. Instead of being unemployed or picking through dangerous landfills for metal or living in cemeteries [npr.org] to avoid having to pay rent, third world cities welcome sweatshops b/c they offer stability and financial opportunities. China and India's growing middle class is an excellent example of that.

Also, "Made in Italy" is problematic, too. [latimes.com]

Sorry, must have been up for just a few minutes. Though, what happened to me last night is that I accidentally forgot to close the Target Tab that said "Woof" and was browsing SD when I noticed the tab didn't say WOOF anymore. So if you really need in you might try leaving the tab open and seeing if it eventually switches over. Not sure if it is just doing an internal reload periodically and I just got lucky or if it is some way T is trying to keep the resellers from going even more crazy.

Not sure. Didn't make it to T today. I looked up one item, I think it was the bike and it was listed as "Out of Stock" in all stores. No idea if they ever got them though I can't believe us KC locals would be such fashionistas to have bought them all.

I was more thinkin of Ebay resellers. I know on some items, the DCPI checker says they are available in KC, but not Manhattan, Topeka, or Lawrence

*Target has many exclusive deals with various designers and name-brands, including Michael Graves, Isaac Mizrahi, Mossimo Giannulli, Fiorucci, Liz Lange, and Converse among others. To further increase their fashion profile, Target also created its fashion-forward Go International line, which hires famous designers to design collections available only for a few months.*

How long do you think I've been a T fan, slowtech? Geez! Wink

But you're right, these designers are all "high-end." They aren't the same, because their long-term partnerships with T diluted the cachet of those labels. In my mind, Mossimo's not designer, it's $1 tank tops, you know? And the GO International stuff is always cute, but they're only big names to people who read Vogue. This is different because it's a pricey designer with history and it's very limited. I'd like to see more stuff that's normally a million lightyears out of my little coupon-clipping league. laugh out loud
