Good morning All!!!

Dental work ughhhh...
All I can say is I have the most pain free dentistt ever.

Never had a canity till I was over 40 and then bam... several , had a root canal,
that went well they knocked me out came to and apparently had a whole conversation with my MIL, who drove me I jhave no idea what I told her
I probably gave away all the "state " secrets...now that's scary.

The most major thing I have had done was laser surgery for gum disease, best thing I ever did and this is pardon the pun cutting edge stuff, ins paid for it thank God.

My dentist is wonderful and I have never said ouch for all the work he's done.

Great hands and local pain relief.

Ank I truly feel for your daughter , TMJ is my nightmere and since it wasn't fixed when I was young they are talking breaking my jaw , reconstructive surgery etc
etc , all that with maybe not the greatest results , due to age and how hard it is to move these old bones.

Cavities aren't really a problem here but the tmj is a tough one.

So as expensive as it is , your doing the right thing getting it aken care of now, and should get decent results , for for all she has to go through.

I am going to go have some coffee.

Photos, if you don't mind me asking, what do you sell on ebay? Stockpile items? I sold on ebay for probably 5 years, mainly used books but also anything else I found in my travels, and I have tried a few stockpile items but never had huge success with them. Except for the Sonicare from Target a couple years back, and the Oral-B toothbrushes.

I'm getting ready for another sale tomorrow. A little nervous because I know I haven't completely replenished from last time. Not that my stock is necessarily low, but I would love to have a $$$$ sale, just not sure the inventory is enough for that. laugh out loud I am going to MI next week for my dad's surgery, and would love to use my yard sale money for that, instead of household money.

Ank, good to see you posting! Sorry about the health issues! hug Whatcha got in your garden this year?

I hate the dentist, too. Desperately need to get in there and get my teeth cleaned, as well as all the kids, but I just hate going. Its going to have to be a family event, though, because no way can I calm my own nerves, let alone 3 kids six and under. shake head Hubby's gonna have to be there to be the stabilizer.

OK, enough stalling. Off to start the day! Happy Friday, everyone!
Yep, stockpile items. I basically was on a mission to earn as much $$ as I could to help out with our money goal. And since I am a SAHM, this was one easy way to do that. So, I just started going thru my stash and just searching ebay for each item (completed listings) to see what I thought would sell. I was shocked at what things were selling for. Now I will say that some people would probably think that it is not worth their time to list, sell and ship the item for the price some things sell for. But I say it all adds up and you get 50 free listings a month now so listing is free, you just have to pay final value fee. Some of the meds that I don't really want to sell at my yard sales seem to sell really well on ebay.
I also sold the sonicares last year. Nice MM!
I was actually surprised at the price some items were selling for. I was throwing things away that I was getting at WG for free after RR because I had no use for it and didn't have a local place to donate it. Such as Neuragen (sp?) that we got paid $10 each to take from WG a couple years ago. After I threw a bunch out, I realized it was selling for about $10 each on the bay. EEK! So now I research everything before I toss it.

Good luck on your sale. It is soo much work but if you are like me, it feels good to contribute a little $$ to the family budget.

I just took the kids to the dentist this week too! My almost 6yr old DD had xrays done and the hygienist counted 8 cavities! She thinks one tooth will need to be pulled. Frown The dentist was on vacation, so I am waiting for the official word next week. I made one appt to get the tooth pulled and then two other appts for getting the cavities filled since there is no way an 6 year old can sit that long.

My kids have their fathers rotten teeth! My oldest actually had cavities on a tooth below the gum line. No amount of brushing would have prevented that, lol.

I have only ever had two cavities and no braces. knock on wood!

L:2B - having coffee yet? I could use another cup...

happy shopping everyone...

DH is still sick but decided to go to work. They've been writing people up for taking vacay time for sick time and he is all out of sick time after his gout attacks and DD's hospital visit. We were up most of the night, so I am exhausted (and I am sure he is too!)

I should go shopping, but not feeling motivated today. I will probably drink some more coffee and try to get motivated...

Kroger doesn't seem to have super exciting sales lately - either that or I just don't need what they have on sale. I read about some clearance diapers, though, so I may check that out.

I may check out Target. Wouldn't mind going fishing, but not holding my breath when it comes to stock.
Morning, oops.. almost afternoon here. I am just now having my coffee Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) didn't get up until pretty late, lol.. DH took today off so we could just spend some time together. He has been so busy and stressed with work lately, and he said he needed a break.. Plus he has 120 vacation hours, so he took it off. We stayed up watching tv and plaing video games and stuff until 3 am, and then DD got up to get in the bed so I couldn't go to sleep. Finally got her back in her bed and I went to bed around 4:30.. slept until 11 am Whee

I haven't gone fishing one time.. but, we aren't really big fish eaters here..

Good Morning!

I feel for you all who are dealing with dental issues. DS has had a retainer since Dec/Jan and is now ready for braces/bands. Supposed to get them next month hopefully. It is sooo EXPENSIVE!! Our local dentist gave us a contract which allows us to pay so much a month (after a hefty $1060 down pmyt) till it is paid off. It actually came out to $212 a month payment for 20months. Uggh! I wasn't sure how I was going to come up with that each month cause we are on a pretty strict budget but so far it has been fairly easy. (not sure how lol) At least it is interest free! Anyways total for all his ortho including retainer, bands/braces and monthly visits was $5060. Hopefully he will have a million dollar smile when he is done.

I am getting closer to my final vacation savings goal. I made $65 on ebay over the last couple days and have some stuff ending today. At last count I needed $85 but I sold a couple things to the neigbor for $10 so I think that leaves me needing $10!! Should make that today from ebay. Now I am on a mission to save/earn the $180 we need for 2 adult tickets to universal studios. I have exactly 2 weeks to do it. I was hoping that coke rewards would offer them before our vacation but they have had nothing but junk lately.

Hope everyone has a great Friday. Only 7 more school days here!!
We finished school this week and it has been wonderful! Loved spending the day with my girls yesterday with nothing to do!

Great job on earning your money! Feels great to get a vacation paid for Smilie hope you have a great time. I can't do orlando heat this time of year. I am a wimp when it comes to heat and humidity :yuck:

I was actually expecting the braces to cost right around what you said.. I already told DH to expect about 5000.00 we have insurance and it pays a whopping 1000.00 Frown

I think finding a dentist you like is an important thing. I just switched to the one I am going to last year. Actually a girl who I went to high school with works at the office and I told her how scared I am of dentists and she told me he was super nice and would not let me hurt. I had one root canal last year and he was so nice, and it didn't hurt at all. Then the second one he tried to get me numb and it just wouldn't work. every time he started working, I could feel it so he stopped and numbed me again. After 5 shots, I still felt pain, so he wouldn't work on me. Said he would not do dental work like that. He felt so bad, they called me at home the next day to check on me. I decided then that since they had gotten out the decay, and put a temporary filling in, I would see how it did and make a decision. After several months, it started getting really sensitive because it was drilled so close to the nerve. I was going to just pull it, but decided to try one last attempt to save it..

I didn't know they even did laser mouth surgery.. interesting!

Sorry about the cavities.. poor thing! I hate it when little ones need dental work. My younger DS has the worst teeth in the family. They told me when he was 4 that they could tell his teeth hadn't formed well and he would have problems with them his entire life. We did the sealant on them at a young age, but they told me upfront that he would end up needing them crowned at some point.. So, last year it had been about 2 years since his checkup and I noticed one of his teeth had broken off on the top. I took him in and we were waiting to decide what to do with it.. root canal vs pulling.. in the mean time, it got abcessed and the poor thing was miserable. I felt so bad for him. He hurt for days and couldn't rest even with antibiotics and pain meds. The dentist tried to talk me into a root canal and crown, but in the end, he admitted to me that if it were his kid, he would just pull it. He said that with the root canal and crown, he may get 6 or 7 years out of it, but then it would need to be pulled anyway. It just isn't a healthy tooth, but he has a wisdom tooth trying to come in, so it made more sense to pull the bad tooth and shift the nice new wisdom tooth into the gap.. that is the next step I suppose..

And, My DD is a *much* better brusher than the boys, but still had a root canal and crown last year.. The oldest DS never brushes and has had the least trouble.. stinks when they try to take care of them and still have issues.

It's been rough. She had the laproscopic surgery on both joints twice last year (march and then october) and still has severe pain, locking of her jaw, and headaches. They are saying she'll have to have the jaw breaking surgery if the braces and guide plane don't work.

Which, now that I type it, makes me wonder if she'd need braces a 2nd time if she has to go through the jaw surgery. If Providence would be so gracious, we won't have to find out!

Good Saturday morning peeps!!

Guess everyone had a busy friday, not many posts. I got a few minutes to shop WG for the F&F discount. I was only able to do a few transactions but was some nice MM deals.

So, does anyone know anything about camcorders? We are thinking about getting this [samsclub.com] one for our trip. We have an old school one that takes the mini discs but it is really a pain when you use it longer than, oh say, 20 min. Never fails, right in the middle of the performance the disc needs changed. So we are thinking hard drive one might be better. My DH swears that I will be regretting it, if we don't get a new one to video my DS marching band at disney. lol
DD has video capabilities on her DSLR but she is really into photography so we probably won't be able to count on her to video what we want. She will be too busy doing photos.

I must say it is soo fun to go back thru our videos and watch the kids. We have been to the 'world' 5 times, starting when they were 3 and 6yrs old, and omg it is funny (and sad) to watch the old videos. They grow up so darn fast. Ok, I have almost already convinced myself that we really don't want to miss videoing this trip. LOL

Todays mission is to go thru my closet to make sure I have enough clothes to wear. I most certainly will need to hit up Kohls for some new clothes cause I am sure people will get tired of seeing me in the same ole Merona Tank tops.LMAO Yep, I think I now have one in every color!
We will be doing some fancy meals while we are there (my neice says fancy cause they had 'glass' cups on the tables in the photo..not the red solo cup she is accustomed to Big Grin) We have a reservation at O'Hana's and DD is wearing a nice dress, so I need a nice outfit to wear. I think I will need to find some of those $5 kohls cpns to use. Maybe there is a %off this weekend too which will help.

Here is to hoping my T lets me go fishing when I am there Sunday!! So far I have not seen one fish there yet. Not even a sign up.

BTW..Sold some more stuff on the bay last night!! Vacation goal has been met plus I now only need $115 left to pay for Universal Tickets. And I still have another week or so to list more stuff.woot

Down I think I've overdone my walking/stair climbing, etc as my knee that I had surgery on hurts. I can go down stairs fairly easily, but it hurts the right knee to bend when the left is going down. I've been walking between 20 and 25 minutes each day and yesterday I went up and down the stairs at work more than 3 times. I'll be alright, but it sure is sore.

flugette, how was your sale today?

Take it a little easier on hat knee if you can, the pain is probably from inflamation, is it warm to the touch ? Maybe an anti inflamatory.

That's a lot of exercise on a recovering knee

Hope it feels better for ya .

I love hearing how well you guys do on your yard sales , truly amazes me.

She's gone thru alot, she's so young, I hope the braces and guide plane work. However that is an excellant question regarding a second set of braces. I think I'd ask that now.

I don't know if it's a good idea or not but if that's the case , maybe you'd want to skip the intermediate treatment , and go right for the paln B .

This tnj as you know can be a bear , and eheadaches, haen't gone away for me in many, many years.

I hope things , whatever treatment you follow clear this up for her.

That's alot of good vegatabkles growing in your garden, I found after a couple of years, it's better to grow the more expensive vegatables ,
due to space and limited sunny spots in my yard. So the ones I plant have to "ean " their space, it took me a couple years to figure out to stop wasting space on the less expensive vegatable. I can be a little slow on the uptake at times If you like herbs, they can be quite profitable to grow also.

I use alot of basil and chives ,so I plant them plus they make good companion plants for alot of vegatbles, .

I don't know if your fanilar with companion planting , but it's planting vegatables and herbs together that "like" each other and help each other grow , and or prevent pest , bug problems.

If you interested you might want to google conpanion planting , there is alot of info , with simple prin table lists, and the benefits they provide each other, some also include lists of plants that adversly affect each other in planted in clse proximity to each other.

Wishing you a bountiful crop,

Good to see you posting here.

She has... and it's frustrating for us all. She's had a rough time of schooling this year because of it all - too much pain and hard to concentrate.

I totally understand what you are saying about earning space. Smilie

I had wanted to have a slightly better planned garden, but I didn't know how things would grow at this house. Plus, it's the first year my 4 y.o. & 20 m.o. have ever experienced a garden (and my first real garden in a good 6 or 7 years), so I did some "space wasters" that I probably would not normally do. I wanted them to see some quick results and have fun pulling up things like radishes and carrots. I guess it's a learning year for us! I definitely want to do some more unusual or heirloom veggies too.

I do plan to put some raised beds in - and if I had my way I'd probably do 90% of our yard in gardens... lol. But I tend to go crazy so I am telling myself to do a little here and there and build up to what I want. I do have some herbs in the front. I didn't plant basil this year, but I have oregano, garlic chives, and thyme from the previous owner. I have mint in pots also. I would love to expand my herbs to rosemary, sage, and a couple others I use a lot.

I have some rhubarb I want to get in its own bed. It's probably a space waster, but it's one of those things that remind me of my childhood so I am going to grow it anyway... lol I plan to do an asparagus bed - we LOVE it here and it's so expensive.

I've heard/done companion planting before, but I desperately need some brushing up on my garden planning! I wish I could find some of the books I had when I was younger.

On another note, I went fishing today and caught 4! My very first fishing trip. I was surprised that the store wasn't as busy as I thought. Not complaining, though, as it seems that no one else seems to care about the fish around here. That, or I caught them after restocking!

DH has been sick all week with a NASTY virus or infection. I am terrified the little kids will come down with it because it will be even less pleasant for them (and me!) I think DH made it through without a doc/er visit by sheer force of will, and I don't think they have his kind of will! I am very much hoping for an easy week!

So... that's the nutshell of my life this week. *laugh*

Oh - I did notice I have morning glory vines invading my garden. That will be interesting, I think... I am just hoping they don't choke out my other plants!
