I would almost rather have them check out my coupons than just sit around and be suspicious of me. I had the CS person come and check me out a few months ago. I argued my point on a couple coupons - and they scanned - and she took them. I am so glad I did that - otherwise she would always think I tried to use invalid coupons.

So many times they read what they think the coupon should say, instead of what it actually says.
I think the most annoying thing I found was she checked them twice which made it take twice as long. Funny thing is now the girl is so nice to me and I go to her for help on things. I guess in the long run it benefited me.

I agree with you on the checking then them always being suspicious of me.

If you ever want to appreciate Target, try a couple trips to Kmart. EEK!

Actually, one of my Kmarts is turning out to be pretty nice. It has a new manager. Smilie I REALLY like her. She is always out in the store talking up the SYWR program to the customers - and she really wants her store to succeed!

I actually like her enough that I try to buy what I can at her store (sometimes even if it costs a little more EEK!) And I go through the trouble to fill out the surveys on the receipt giving the store high marks. But there is a WORLD a difference in that store now. I almost gave up on Kmart shopping after a few weeks of it. But one day I went there and she was buzzing around - and I already noticed a difference in the store. Employees are smiling at customers, asking to help, being nice when you use coupons, etc. etc. I really hope she can be successful with the store. Not just for my sake - but she is "good people" and I would like to see her succeed.

I have still had a few issues there - but even they have been handled better. This one cashier is rude, mean, nasty, etc. She actually waited on me the first couple times I went there and it was almost enough to scare me off Kmart. The last time she waited on me, she was her normal unpleasant self. I asked for the shift manager and said "XXX is rude!" She said "I know." She assured me that they knew about the problem and X was going to have to start being "unrude" if she wanted to keep working there.

Then, the other night, the cashier charged me for one extra toilet paper. Though it was $5.49 - when I asked to get a refund for the overcharge - the CS person told me I would only get $1.35 back. EEK! Because I had used a P&G CRT, and a 50 cent coupon on the OTHER two packs of toilet paper I actually did buy - they wanted to take almost $4 off my refund amount. EEK! Well, I would keep the dang toilet paper before I would pay $4 for something I didn't get. But the point is - I bought 2; the cashier rang up 3 - my coupons covered the REST of my purchase (what I actually did buy) - I should not be penalized by only getting $1.35 back on a $5.46 overcharge due to a cashier error.

The CS person just gave me the standard Kmart "The system just does that. There is NOTHING we can do about it."

I asked for a manager and said I wanted a GC for the amount Kmart's system took from me. The shift manager actually gave me a gift card. I had talked to him once before (before the new manager was on the scene). And there is a world of difference in him now too.

Kmart can be so complicated to shop at because all the promotions overlap and if ONE thing goes wrong, it messes up the whole dang order. And God forbid they decide to return and re-ring. Their system steals your money from you if you used Kmart coupons. And everyone acts like "Oh well... there is nothing we can do..."

So it is nice that this store has a manager that is getting her employees to actually care about customer concerns....

I would say Kmart, overall, does not seem to be responsive to customer complaints. You are pretty much at the mercy of the store manager and CS employees. But the Big Kmart in the sky doesn't seem to care if you are happy or not. But I am beginning to like this store with the new manager. Dang! I have even been looking at buying a freezer there....even if it costs a little more...

You didn't have to dress expensive - but everyone wore their "nice clothes."

Bummer. Frown What horrid customer service. I haven't had to deal with DeCA lately - for quite some time, actually. But their fast and supportive responses in the past helped me get past the coupon bullying in their store.

They are all pretty good about coupons now (until we get a new bunch in customer service). But the CS manager (or whatever they call her) told the CS employees that I know my coupons - and not to give me a hard time. In fact, a couple times a cashier told me they would have to have someone come out and check my printables - and then told me that the CS manager popped her head out, saw it was me, and told them to go ahead. That is a good feeling to know that even if I have a bunch of pdf printables - the CS manager just says "Oh... it is her - her coupons are good."

They really must be getting a lot of fake coupons now though. Several CS people have remarked that they have. But I agree with you, if they haven't found the person in a couple months.... there is no reason to make everyone feel like a criminal.

My gosh! I was at the commissary several months ago and handed the cashier the wrong stack of coupons. I had stacks on 20 of this and 20 of that, that I had taken coupons out as I bought the items - and I handed the cashier the stack of coupons of things I hadn't bought, instead of the stack of coupons for the stuff I purchased.

When I saw that my total was already negative, with lots of coupons left to scan I thought EEK! I noticed she was scanning a whole stack of coupons for items I hadn't purchased and pushing them through. EEK! She had pushed through 63 coupons!!!!

When I told her what happened - she just kept saying "You are good with your coupons, so I just thought you had bought all these items." (Such a refreshing change from having to dig through 15 bags to prove you bought a candy bar).

I tried to get her to void the whole order and start over. For some reason her and the CS person just wanted to void the coupons one by one. I don't think we ever got the order all the way straight.

Every once in awhile I still run across a cashier that wants to look at all my coupons and all my items and then still needs to dig through the bags at the end. But generally, I don't have many coupon problems there. (at least not at the moment).
Anyone else remember the picture of a womens volleyball team having dinner at the White House? Casual sundresses and flip flops on all of them. EEK!

Friday, dh went to the commissary to use up a bunch of Jello ip (90c and 1.10 off any). Cashier argued and argued with him about how he didn't have "enough" pudding packs to use 20 coupons. He stood his ground though and she grumbled under her breath for the rest of the transaction.

Flip flops! Bigeye

I actually went to the White House Conference on Youth, Drugs, and Violence back when Clinton was President. The first night of the conference they had a reception at the White House. I stressed about what to wear, because they didn't really give us any guidance. I guess they think you already know. Anyway, I finally decided on a black dressy pant suit - hoping that would work either way, so I wouldn't be over-dressed or under-dressed. Everyone seemed to think I was White House staff. laugh out loud People kept asking me where the bathrooms were. LMAO

One girl there was wearing a mini-skirt and gold glitter combat boots. I bet she wasn't mistaken for a White House employee....

Good for your husband for standing his ground on the jello pudding. Actually, the commissary isn't supposed to discriminate based on method of payment (i.e. coupons) But I know your commissary has been particularly aggravating about such things. Maybe you should print out the part of the policy that states that coupons are a substitute for legal tender and become part of the overall cash flow. Wink

Really, if anyone bothered reading DeCA emails anymore, I would be tempted to write a complaint that the commissary didn't want to sell me 20 packs of pudding though there was plenty on the shelves...

Facebook maybe?

LOL about being mistaken for White House staff.

I'm going to try calling tomorrow and I'll mention that incident as well. Wouldn't normally try buying 20 packs at one time but the coupons expire 5/21 and with 4 kids and a dh that eat one cup each per day, it goes fast in this house. The Temptations ones are $1.70 at the commissary so $1.10 off makes them 60c. Can't pass that up!

Gearing up for only 6-7 weeks before baby is here so this weekend was laundry weekend/ packing the hospital bag. I have an OCD about how clothes are washed and dried, I can't help it but most cotton knit clothing is hung to dry. Dh has finally learned to deal with it after 20 years. lol Finished one load of baby blankets, towels and clothing (yes towels and blankets go in the dryer) and ran out of hanging space and, most importantly, hangers. With 4 older kids I know I have more baby sized hangers somewhere but can't find them so need to get some before this next washer load finishes. Sadly T closed at 9 but when they remodeled the Walmart near us into a Supercenter, they made it a 24 hour store.

Yep, I remember that White House visit. What is worse are the things kids wear to CHURCH these days. My daughter has always dressed modestly and not terribly trendy...I'd say more like a Gap style, but there are times that she comes out of her room in shorts & a tshirt for church...sigh as if she doesn't have a single nice thing to wear thanks to Target...dresses, skirts, blouses, etc. I ask her if she would wear that if she was going to the White House?!?! Then remind her that she is going to visit God in HIS house, which is a much bigger occasion than the White House.

I find it hard to believe that a single adult didn't suggest dressing more formally for the occasion. Not cocktail dresses but geez, flip flops? The dresses were ok but shoes were definitely inappropriate imo.

ITA! But when I think about it these girls probably only own tennis shoes & flip flops.

I'm teaching my children...well mini thrift, because I obviously dress my 2 & 1 yo boys that it is always better to be over dressed than under dressed for any event. She also knows to ask me or my mom (next door) if what she is wearing is ok.

Invest in some staples (stay away from trendy stuff) for clothes and you'll be fine for most occasions/events.

True, didn't think about that. Thankfully my 15 and 13 year olds prefer to dress more conservatively. And they don't like flip flops- they tell me that those are shower shoes. laugh out loud

I remember that only because I was so shocked at the flip flops , new low for fashion, taste, and approriate dress, and respect for the office
I have a young twentys niece who says sneakers should only be allowed in gyms , hows that for a refreshing change LMAO

you would think that for a once in a lifetime event they could spend a little money and dress up as if they were going to a wedding or some other formal event. i'm sure they regret it now.

i don't know why people think they can wear flip flops absolutely everywhere, including shoveling snow. and wearing flip flops all the time is bad for your feet. they don't provide any support. there is going to be a whole generation needing orthotics and going to the podiatrist. might be a good field to get in to. i see $$$ in the future.

Big Grin flip flops have their place but also, don't have their place. For me, I will always think of them as the shoes that dh needed to have while on board a submarine, for taking showers. laugh out loud

I really don't get it, every time we go to an amusement park with hours and hours of expected walking and there are all these people walking around in flip flops. Frown In Hawaii, they are very common because it's cheap foot covering that is allowed at school but if you have ever run in flip flops... well, don't. I've lived in Hawaii twice with my dad being Navy, and then I married a guy in the Navy. My mom would only buy us flip flops when we lived in Hawaii- why not, because she LOVED them, and still does.

morning.

rained last nite so damp outside and still overcast.

i gotta stop eating so late at night. i'm trying to eat a yoghurt b4 exercising like i saw on the dr oz show and i'm having a tough time getting it down b/c i'm not hungry.

i got so fustrated yesterday shopping the dollar spot i got a shopping cart and filled it half full w/ black dot items that got salvaged last go round and a few items from st patrick's and valentines day; a basket full of broken items, items missing a label, tissue paper, styrofoam blocks, plastic bags and other garbage; and a couple handfuls of items that were in the wrong dept while i was hunting thru the mess. then i found some mgr person and told them about what i'd done so the black dot stuff would not be thrown back in to the bins. along w/ the shopping cart full of stuff i also gave her the 2 full baskets of red dot stuff i didn't want and told her it would be salvaged last night so no need to put it back.

at least this time i didn't find any halloween or xmas stuff. but i think i saw some spatulas from the fall. they had multi-colored leaves on them.

they used to move all the clearance stuff to one area and sign it but they haven't done that the last few times and they don't bother to sign it anymore. i know they could have sold a lot at 30, 50 and 70 off and the whole section is totally trashed it's hard to find the regular priced stuff. i saw a lady shopping for beach balls and afterwards i came across a few more. she probably would have bought them if she could find them.

i don't want to complain though b/c if they got more on the ball i would not be getting such good clearance in the quantities i do get b/c nobody knows it's on final clearance except me.
