I didn't even leave this house today. Too hot. I know I have to go and meet the paper guy tomorrow, so I'll just get my stuff done while I'm out.

I'm worried about the 4th of July. It hasn't rained here in over 2 weeks. I live outside the city, so fireworks are allowed, but I'm worried some idiot will set the neighborhood on fire.

Reminder to visit the printable sites and print anything you might want tonight, as it may not be here tomorrow with the month rollover.

I did leave the house, did two very small T runs. Our power was out after a storm last night but thankfully only for about 10 hours. There are so many people that were in that same storm's path that are still without power. Frown Getting some last minute cleaning and laundry done before we head to the hospital on Monday.

L2B, eek!, the idea of 113 before heat index makes me want to faint.

NBC Nightly News said that there are parts of the DC Metro that won't have power for a week. EEK! particularly when it's so hot.

Aww that sucks! I just found out what one of those places is- Ft. Belvoir Army base. Yep, the place we're supposed to be on Monday and where the delivery is scheduled for Tuesday. Projected power return is sometime Monday or Tuesday. shake head The stress of everything falling in line is really getting to me.

ss EEK! that's terrible! I was watching the weather channel yesterday before it hit that area and they discussed 90 mph winds.

Thanks for the trade. I got your Qs today. I appreciate you helping me out. I hunted down a reppable post to rep you.

hug Thank you, and you're welcome.

The wind was so bad that it made the upper floor of our house shake. Scared the heck out of my 10 yr old son. Frown The OB called me to let me know what the back-up plan is in case power isn't restored. I checked the FB page for Ft. Belvoir and Dominion is projecting to have power restored there tomorrow morning. Please please let that be so!

Hi guys.

I feel so sorry for you that have to endure this heat Hug2. I live in Las Vegas and it is normal for us to have about 110 degree but at least it is not humid. Our ACs work OT usually since May.

On another note I wanted to share some freebies with you:

- samples of Eucirin [facebook.com];
- sample U by Kotex and a free clutch [walmart.com] - you have to build a board first but it is quick.
- perfume sample [facebook.com] - New York Yankees;
- Clear [facebook.com] for men sample;
- Mrs Dash [facebook.com] sample;
- free 2-year subscription to Lego Club [lego.com] magazine
- Shout color catcher [target.com] sample (Target.com)

I apologize for bringing business into the chat thread, but I'm hoping for lots of feedback here...

What does everyone think about the Target debit RedCard? I've never used the Paypal debit card, but it sounds similar to that program: a regular debit card with the same functions, except it is exclusively funded by money you transfer from your bank accounts. Do overdrafts & associated fees get drawn from your checking account?

Have there been any account security issues?

Is there an option to use it as a credit card, or more like an ATM card in that sense?

In short, is it worth it despite any drawbacks, inconveniences or other issues? I absolutely don't want the credit card. I don't shop at Target every week and we have a regular T, but the 5% off alone seems worth it.

Also for those of you in GA, stay healthy! I lived in Atlanta for all my life until last summer...which was only the hottest one on record for the barren lands of west Texas. Dry 90F+ temperatures, not to mention 100F+ is so much worse than 90s and 100% humidity. I was so sick all summer. This is the time to pick Gatorade over water!

I'm a cash or gift card only user at Target. I don't need or want them to track what I buy with any kind of card (including my own credit or debit card).
The only exception to that is a single electronics purchase so that my Visa gold would provide an extra year of warranty.

This is what I have and use. I know that they "follow" me but who cares. They probably have linked my other CC by now Smilie

Actually, the debit card is like your regular, bank issued debit card with the only difference that you can use it at T only. The transactions (to process) take the same time as if you had used your regular bank issued debit card, or used a check.

Drawbacks - I can't think of any except that you have to have money in your bank account, i.e. if you "charge" it for $20 and you don't have $20 you will get overdraft fee from your bank. It is not like a CC where the transaction would be denied for the lack of money. Just think of it as your regular bank-issued debit card. The same rules apply here.

Hope this helps!

I don't know if what we got here was part of the same system or not? (there is some "stalled" front I guess that's causing it for us) but we had a bad one go through here Friday night....90 mph winds in some places. I'm not sure what the final gusts came in at in our exact area but tons of people without power for awhile and large trees just snapped in half. Crazy. We aren't scared to our basement much anymore by storms, and they can pinpoint things so well anymore that the tornado sirens rarely sound but this one definitely shook the house so bad we went straight downstairs....bad straight line winds lasted about 10 min. We had the pretty bad storm that damaged our roof at the old house last year; this one definitely ranked right up there as far as the wind, just no hail thankfully! We are also lucky to live down in a mini-valley sort of.....the more elevated parts of our little town seemed to get the brunt of it. One of our neighbors trees snapped and fell, luckily the direction of his yard, not ours, missing both of our houses....phew. Hadn't been a bad year for storms here up until this point though so no complaints here Smilie

can i just ask why you wouldn't want a target credit card? you get a free 30 day float. i always say money in my pocket is better than money in their pocket. does the target cc give back 1% back everywhere else like other cc's? i have always had cc's w/ money back for the last 15yrs+. as long as you pay them in full every month i don't see any problem. the 1% back is great. i get $200+ back in hard cash every yr from costco.

as for big brother tracking you, target's marketing is so messed up it's beyond random. i almost think they go out of their way to send you stuff you aren't interested in buying instead of *target* marketing their customers. i think that dad finding out his daughter was pregnant thru target mailers was just a coincidence. they talk a good game but the anecdotal evidence from the hard shoppers here kinda disproves a good marketing program. my neighbor has the target cc and spends way more at target than i do and i've gotten more mailers than she has recently.

i use my chase freedom at target faithfully b/c target counts as a grocery store and i can use it for lookup just in case. when i was getting the haiku coupon booklets i would get the crappiest q's. i would MAYBE use 1 out of the whole thing. i never got baby promos even though i've purchased plenty of baby stuff inc diapers for my neighbor. we barely get any cats here and i hardly ever use the ones i get. the corresponding inserts and ip's are always higher value around here, even the ones coughed up at the supermarket. just for instance, yesterday i used 3- 1.00 edy's ip's instead of the crappy 1.00/3 cat q i had from the supermarket. 1.00 off instead of .33 off is a 200% difference. that's why many people just toss them. most of the time they are a waste of time.
