Go buy yourself a small coffeemaker. Use it for the week and take it back (not big enough, not hot enough, whatever) and get your $$ back. I've done this for a hand mixer, when I didn't realize the "complete kitchen" in a residence inn didn't have a mixer while I was on travel 15+ years ago. You'll probably have to buy the coffee and filters though.
I did that already, am not sure if I can survive without it early in the morninglaugh out loud

We went to see the mallard duck march..ducks live at million$$$ penthouse apartment, have their own elevators and march down in the red carpet.. They are too cuteSmilie

Had lunch at olive garden with unlimited, soup, salad and breadsticks. At Walgreens, bought some water, mr.cofee coffee maker, filters and coffee.

Now off to the poolSmilie

ooh, florida, amusement parks. lucky you!

first of all, you must, must, must go to publix and see if you can find any tearpads and smartsource blinkies under 1.00 for stuff. just grab everything you see. i went 2 yrs ago and i was swimming in free iced tea, smartwater and cheap vlasic pickles all summer. the blinkies start w/ a 5, not a 9 like here, so the vlasic coupons doubled so i think i only paid .16 w/ .75 q's when they were 3/5.00 at shoprite or something like that. i remember being very sad that i only got 3 smartwater q's cuz i only got 3 free bottles. Frown when we got home, everytime there was a free deal, i would say i should have gotten more q's and dh would say- i asked if you wanted to stop at publix and you said no b/c it was late and we were tired. even if you are tired you still need to go to publix!!! it's worth $$$!

we always go to the outlets and then never buy anything b/c you have to pay tax on clothing in FL and you have to pay extra for luggage on the plane. and there are hardly any outlets there that they don't have here. so if you have the choice, go to publix instead!!!Wink i would have even brought home groceries if i could. they had goldfish crackers 10/10. they never have them that cheap here. i was only able to get 2 bags last wk b/c they were 1.50 and there was a shoprite e-coupon for 1.00/2 but that will never happen again.

have you considered animal kingdom? i think that might be perfect for the 4yr old besides magic kingdom.
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com...l-kingdom/
15 of 20 attractions are appropriate for preschoolers-
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com...l-kingdom/

it's been a little while since i've been to hollywood studios but i'm thinking there are probably a lot of simulated rides that the 4 yr old might now be able to get on. i don't think they'd be able to go on the tower of terror or whatever they are calling it now that supposedly drops 5 stories. only 4 of 13 rides are appropriate for preschoolers at hollywood studios-
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com...schoolers/

i would also go to universal studios islands of adventure, the one w/ harry potter. unfortunately it will seem like one giant gift shop b/c almost every ride you come out inside the gift shop. but there are lots of nice photo ops there. there is a dr seuss section which would be perfect for the 4 yr old. we were there 2 yrs ago and it was a little run down from the last time we were there but hopefully by now they've given it a coat of paint. it's cute and very colorful. also in the jurassic park section there is a pteradactyl ride or something that only little kids can go on, at least 36in high and adults have to be accompanied by a kid.
http://www.universalorlando.com/R...lyers.aspx

if it's your first time, you may want to experience everything, good or bad, but there is one show called poseidon adventure or something in the arabian night section b4 harry potter that is really, really lame. if you run out of time, skip that. i will look it up. skip this one if you have limited time-
http://www.universalorlando.com/R...-Fury.aspx

even though the kids probably can't ride most of the rides in harry potter, it's really nice to walk thru. they did a really good job making it look realistic. dh doesn't like roller coasters so we didn't do the dragon roller coaster or the hogwarts ride, but you don't have to go on the ride, you can walk thru some of hogwarts school which has some special effects, i won't give it away. and the stores are cute, the candy store, the toy store, etc. the line was so long to get into the wand store, even after dark when you didn't need a timed ticket anymore to get into that section, so we didn't go in. just be careful. my friend got suckered into buying a 50.00 plastic wand. we ate at the restaurant there so we could try the funky drinks. they also sell butterbeer outside from giant barrel stands and carts.

they probably still have the 19.99, or maybe more now, all you can eat deal from certain restaurants which is probably good for teenagers and adults who are bottomless pits. your kids might be too young for the meal deal to be a deal for you and the restaurants are for very ordinary food.

i think there is a little AAA discount on universal studios tickets so be sure to ask at the ticket booth.

i don't know if harry potter is still as crowded, when we went, what you should do first thing is to go all the way to the back of the park and get a timed ticket to enter the harry potter section later. when it got dark, you didn't need a timed ticket but it was really too dark to take nice pictures. there is a train engine that everyone takes a picture by near the entrance.

if you are interested, it might be slow this time of yr so you might be able to get a reservation for emeril's restaurant. it is rather expensive but you are there already. cheaper than going to new orleans or las vegas.
http://www.universalorlando.com/R...erils.aspx

we ended up eating dinner at bubba gump's which is fun. just don't let the kids get the kraft macaroni and cheese. that was free at stop and shop!
http://www.universalorlando.com/R...rants.aspx

if i recall correctly, it's very hard to bring anything in to universal studios. while you walk from the parking they have these audio announcements to turn back now and put your stuff in your car b/c it's really far from the amusement park. then you have to walk all the way thru citywalk (restaurant and shopping area) to get to the park. it may have changed but i think at disney we brought in fruit and bottles of water. they didn't have a problem w/ that but things may have changed.

if i think of anything else i will post. have lots and lots of fun!!!

Hi all,
I am at orlando, can you believe it? I was unsure untill yesterday morning if I will accompny DH, who has conference at the peabody conference center and he is booked into the peabody hotel.
Ok, decided that we all can come with him for a week and got here yesternay night. The darm hotel doesn't even have a DARN coffee maker. $18/person for super cheap breakfast that has coffee, toast and fruits. It horribly sucks.
Sorry for the rant.. I am puffing and huffing, DH already left for his conference.

I am taking the kids out somewhere... I have few questions for some of you regulars... Which disneyland themepark or universal studio that *I* can take my 2 kids [8 yr and 4 yr old]. I am confused and in need of quick suggestions since i donno where to start. I am left wit kids until wednesday, only when DH is free ad we have until saturday to go around.
I am thinking about hollywood studios for the 3 of us. DS#1 is little above 42 inches and DS#2 is small that someone newer would ask if he is 2 or 3... With their height in mind, will *i* be able to take the kids to rides?
With the four of is, we have planned to go to legoland, magic kingdom, epcot and one more themepark.

The painful part is now to shop some grocery like water, chocolate milk, banana, yogurt and some snacks for the kids.

I will truly appreciate the reply from you guys. Thanks a lot, i am still annoyed over the face that there is *no * coffeemaker in the room.grrrr
Would your kiddos be interested in something like Seaworld? Hubby and I (well, he was bf then Smilie ) went with his parents to Orlando a few years back for a week. Kinda stinked bringing his parents, but the military discount (his dad is retired and we bought all our tickets at MWR before we left VA) was well worth it. Besides Disney and Universal, we also did SeaWorld and Medieval Times (dinner/show) one day, and as many outlets as we could one day (I had a major Coach problem pre-baby) Big Grin. I know some people have a "thing" against parks like SeaWorld (I'm an oceanography major and don't agree with everything they do, but their good outweighs their bad), but between all the exhibits and the shows there was more than enough for one day. They may still be too young for Medieval Times though, but they may be entertained before and after the show, when you get to walk around and take pictures with all the characters and some of the animals, like the falcon.

Let me keep thinking and see what else may be good to do down there.... I also have some pictures of the Medieval Times I can post if you want to see as well. HTH!

Ok .. You are always a sweetie(u know that, right)... Always informative like our dear gg(miss you sweetie). You post gave the insight i wanted. Super useful since it kind of rules out the hollywood studios. Dont have AAA with us, do looks like we have to buy at full price at the hotel lobby.
I think, we will go to animal kingdom, looks like both kids can do more rides there with their heights in mind and seems like they like it with the pictures that i showed them. Tomm would be my publix day thenWink
Thanks for the publix information, there are 4 publix around this hotel within 5 miles radius, i am going to enjoy huntingWink if only the kids are more cooperativeOMG i will email you my findsSmilie
Yesterday night i went to superT, didn't have more time to go around, since the kids were sulking all along. Wnt to costco, to see if they have discounted tickets to the park, no they dont have.
Nice to wear the summer dress, awesome weather. Kids had great time in the pool.

Oh TN..My DD would LOVE to have a Prius. (she thinks anyways lol)
She has never drove one but is all about the gas mileage aspect of it. Someone we know that bought one told us he got about 50mpg the first month and then it went down a little from there it seemed. IDK..I have really never even researched them.

So..DD ended up going with a nice used car, same model as she had just 7years newer. lol AND with a 4cylinder she will get the gas mileage she needs to keep costs low. She was able to pay cash!! Which is a huge accomplishment for a 20yr old. (only working part time/college full time) But she has saved wisely over the years.

Back to the Insurance..lol..I kinda have been going back/forth trying to decide whether or not to lower my 2002 car to liability. Well after talking to insurace agent (not to mention getting a letter from ins company reminding me that my premiums for my DS now 16! will be going up dramatically), I think I have decided to drop to liability. We did this with my DH truck (2000 model) when my DD turned 16 and it did help offset the costs. So I will do it to mine to help offset the cost of DS insurance. In the end we won't be saving anything on our total premiums for all 4 vehicles BUT it will help keep the costs about the same as they are now. My sons ins. will go up from $30mo to $90mo on his Mitsubishi eclipse and mine will go down about the same amount (going from full to liability).

Here is to praying that everything will work out for us! Smilie Being a parent to a teenager/young adult is soo stressful!

NOW today I get to go with this wonderful son of mine and pay his last ortho bill! We have been paying on this for a year and did not think this day would come this soon but we have paid quite a bit each month to get it paid off as quickly as possible. Almost $6000 OMG His smile better be perfect!! lol

I sure hope this year gets better cause this month has been a real test for us. So many things happening/changing. Tis life I guess.

Kay12--DISNEY WORLD--We love it there! We also really like Universal but it was soo crowded when we were there in May. It was literally wall to wall people in Harry potter area. Of course my kids are much older so that will be a huge difference. When they were smaller (probably 4 and 7) we took them to Universal and they had a blast on the kids side (whichever it is that has nickelodeon Wink) If I had little ones again I would definitely take them there again. However, Disney is always in our hearts so we spend ALOT of time and money there. So much to see! Been there 6 or 7 times and see something different every time we go.
ENJOY! I bet the weather is wonderful. woot

hi everyone,

we are planning on going to disney world in June, is it worth it to get the orlando entertainment book to save while we are there? I saw there are car rental coupons on the book. How do they work? Do we have to bring to coupon when picking up the car? We are looking for cheap car rental on those days and right now, all I can see is $476 for the whole week using united mileage plus discount. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know anything about the Orlando book, but I would think if you keep your eyes open you can get a car cheaper than that possibly. We rented a van last summer and got a great last minute deal from priceline or hotwire.

I didn't check prices but saw this in the travel forumlink

is that where all the other chat threads are? sometimes sd is just weird. yesterday somebody posted about the biore deal in the shoprite thread b/c they couldn't find the target deal thread. i tried so hard to get the web developers to understand the drugstore forum is not like the hot deals forum, you cannot go by the latest thread or post, you will never, ever find most of the threads you want that way but it's like this Head Bang. every wk in deals somebody is always looking for the coupon trading thread. that's been around for yrs and yrs! it's absurd that you can't search and find it!

I used to always get them on ebay.. but, they have been harder to find lately.. I need a few myself!

Wave just dropping by to say hello..

Sorry the thread is so dead.. For me, it is just really hard to keep up with RL most days. About 90% of my internet usage is from my mobile phone, and therefor I don't come to SD near as much as I used to. I depend on facebook more than anything. Thankfully there are a few friends I have on facebook, who will drop me a message when a super deal comes around.. but, those have been few and far between lately it seems!
