What does invite others to use prime mean (under the account tab) does this mean to authorize others to use my prime account for free, or does it mean to invite others that have a edu. e-mail to sign up???
^You can invite anyone (up to 4 others), with any email address to share your Prime account. You won't see any of their purchase and they won't see any of yours.
Family invites may say that they are only for one month (at least it was for my wife) but they also get a full year and 4 invites!!! - Morning_Breath
- well, for the invites it said Subscription Duration = 1 month. However, the prime account showed valid until Jul 13, 2011. So we will know if it is valid for 1-year ONLY after 30 days.
FAQ [amazon.com]
Terms and Conditions [amazon.com]
If you sign up for an Amazon Student membership, for the first year of that membership, you will receive one free year of Amazon Prime. We may choose to extend this free offer for more than one year. With Amazon Prime, you will be entitled to FREE Two-Day shipping and $3.99 per unit One-Day shipping on all eligible purchases for one year. The automatic renewal provisions in the Amazon Prime Terms & Conditions (which would require you to pay for Amazon Prime) do not apply to this membership, even if we decide to extend the free Amazon Prime offer beyond one year. There is no minimum purchase requirement. Amazon Student members will also be entitled to discounts and promotions, which we will communicate to you via e-mail or make available on the Amazon Student membership page at www.amazon.com/student.
Please use a current .edu e-mail address. Alumni addresses are not eligible.
sanjeeva7 - oh well it was worth a shot!!
This applies to graduate students as well as there is a choice for "graduate student" when signing up.
For those who are thinking about frauding the system, think again. Enrollment can easily be verified by using this website [National Student Clearinghouse - EnrollmentVerify School Participants]: http://www.studentclea
RE: Auto-renewal
This is nothing to worry about. If they do end up charging you, just call them and tell them you'd like to cancel. I had a three month trial renew on me, which I didn't catch until over a month later. I called, said I never used the service and didn't want to keep it, and they gave me a full refund on the spot.
Inviting household members
Invitation works like normal! Each Student Prime account may share the Prime benefits with 4 other people like a normal paid Prime account. -aznkuo
To invite a friend or family member, go here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/subs/pr...epage.html
Current Prime Members
You should receive an email automatically from Amazon showing that your old Prime membership was canceled and they are issuing a pro-rated refund. This has been confirmed by multiple $D members. Some users report this email being blocked by spam filters, so if you don't get it, check your spam folder.

School-Specific Information
Any Northwestern Univ (Evanston, IL) undergrads should use the @northwestern.edu that is hidden in the system....ie [email protected]. your @u.northwestern.edu account will NOT be accepted for this promo. Might work for grad students too, YMMV -Your friendly Wildcat, dragonflight

Just made my second prime account after the first one ended. i just made up all of the information to make the new .edu address
i wonder if i can share the prime benefits with my previous amazon account that i had prime on? anyone tried that? not that is really that necessary but would be nice to just continue to use by old account..
I created new account with new non-edu email and used the same edu email as before and it works.
So you need...
New Non-Edu Email
Any Edu Email (new or old, just need access to it)

The free student prime accounts can't be shared.
Seems like Amazon could track that it is the same credit card number (etc) as a previously expired Student Prime account.
Thoughts?

Yes you can use the same info after that. Ordered a game last night after redoing prime. And you don't need a new .edu address.

....
thanks!
thanks!
Mine expired in one day, so I went ahead and made a new account.
The cancellation route is dead. My friend did that when it was live. Her BF tried a couple of days later and they already fixed that loop hole.
Hope this helps.

If you want to do the cancellation trick, it doesn't work anymore, see above your post.

It appears that your Amazon Student account is being shared with another account using the same .edu email address. According to the Amazon Student terms and conditions, "You may not transfer or assign your Amazon Student membership or the benefits associated with an Amazon Student membership. You may not use your student e-mail address for more than one Amazon Student membership".
Due to this fact, your Amazon Prime shipping benefits have been cancelled. If you would like further clarification, please send an email to [email protected] from the email address associated with your Amazon.com account.
