I'm pretty sure Jack and Kate's eyes met at some point through the plane-not-crashing scenario, and they certainly didn't react like former lovers would have.
It's like a completely tangential storyline where Jack has the kid long before he even leaves for Sydney.

I was reading some theories on the previously referenced lostpedia website, and now my head is spinning. One point that was brought up was that the number 23 - Shephard, could in fact be for Christian and not Jack.when in the lighthouse w/mirrors and Jack sees the house, "Christian could have grown up in that house and they watched him from his whole life. They didn't show Jacob meeting Christian, but that does not mean that he didn't meet Christian at all"...
Then there's a crazy one about David being the MIB, heres the excerpt "Jack has now raised two sons: Aaron in the original timeline (who will someday become Jacob) and David in the Flash-sideways (who will someday become the Man In Black). Aaron/Jacob has light hair, David/MIB has dark hair. When the two timelines converge (as the producers have suggested that it will) we will see them become the nemeses they are today. Jack is somehow 'important' because he raised both the forces that now control the island. ".......crazy huh?
The two timelines will converge (just like in Donnie Darko); a tangential universe has to reconnect with the main one at a point in the future.
I actually went back and started reading some of the old theories about the hieroglyphics on the countdown clock, since more glyphs appeared on the rock walls in Jacob's lighthouse. One loose translation -- on a page from 2006, mind you -- was "drop death," which (based on the magnetism and nuclear forces inside the Swan) was conjectured to possibly mean "drop a nuclear weapon."
Crazy to compare some of the theories from years ago against what we know now, though!

Desmond/Penny
Charles Widmore (but he's actually an enemy of the Others and Jacob, right?)
Other Candidates
Civilization (Will the rest of the world find out about the Island?)
also, is this "they" the same "they're coming" when Jacob was dying after Ben stabbed him?

And I thought Widmore was an enemy of Ben over being kicked out of the Others, not Jacob/the Others.
