Jack's son is like 16 at least, Jack didn't marry that woman until after he was as successful surgeon and fix her, probably well into his 30s. The actor is 43. It's pushing it to think that his wife that we've seen is the mother, and also that anyone from the island is the mother, since she'd have been on Oceanic 815 with him and they wouldn't completely ignore each other. It has to be a Dharma or Others connection, if she's relevant.

Why wouldn't he be? Most kids aren't given cars and Jack, being single, probably only has one.

He looks younger than 16 to me. The way he talks makes me think he's closer to 13, if that.

I figured since they show David (Jack's son) with big blue eyes, his mom could be Kate, but who knows, this show seems like it needs more seasons to explain all these things going on.

David does bear some resemblance to Kate, but that wouldn't make sense.

I'm pretty sure Jack and Kate's eyes met at some point through the plane-not-crashing scenario, and they certainly didn't react like former lovers would have.

It's like a completely tangential storyline where Jack has the kid long before he even leaves for Sydney.

You are both right...I think I was just reaching there because I am as LOST as ever. Confused
I was reading some theories on the previously referenced lostpedia website, and now my head is spinning. One point that was brought up was that the number 23 - Shephard, could in fact be for Christian and not Jack.when in the lighthouse w/mirrors and Jack sees the house, "Christian could have grown up in that house and they watched him from his whole life. They didn't show Jacob meeting Christian, but that does not mean that he didn't meet Christian at all"...
Then there's a crazy one about David being the MIB, heres the excerpt "Jack has now raised two sons: Aaron in the original timeline (who will someday become Jacob) and David in the Flash-sideways (who will someday become the Man In Black). Aaron/Jacob has light hair, David/MIB has dark hair. When the two timelines converge (as the producers have suggested that it will) we will see them become the nemeses they are today. Jack is somehow 'important' because he raised both the forces that now control the island. ".......crazy huh?

Wow, that's a pretty sweet theory, actually. It kinda makes sense, since Lost seldom makes a detail-oriented mistake.

The two timelines will converge (just like in Donnie Darko); a tangential universe has to reconnect with the main one at a point in the future.

I actually went back and started reading some of the old theories about the hieroglyphics on the countdown clock, since more glyphs appeared on the rock walls in Jacob's lighthouse. One loose translation -- on a page from 2006, mind you -- was "drop death," which (based on the magnetism and nuclear forces inside the Swan) was conjectured to possibly mean "drop a nuclear weapon." EEK! So four years ago, somebody unknowingly, and possibly haphazardly, predicted the season 5 finale nuke drop. laugh out loud (however, I think the glyphs have since been said by the producers to stand for "Underworld.")

Crazy to compare some of the theories from years ago against what we know now, though!

That is pretty crazy/cool. It will be quite amazing if indeed some of these theories come to fruition, like you stated years later...can't wait to see how this all pans out. I will definitely miss this show once its all over, but at least I still have Dexter to look forward to soon.

So we're now a few episodes in and, with the exception of the lighthouse that was more meant for Jack than anybody else, we have yet to hear about any "they" that are coming. MIB seems to be the only one instigating anything.

possible "they" in no particular order

Desmond/Penny

Charles Widmore (but he's actually an enemy of the Others and Jacob, right?)

Other Candidates

Civilization (Will the rest of the world find out about the Island?)

also, is this "they" the same "they're coming" when Jacob was dying after Ben stabbed him?

Don't you remember when Kate was running down the sidewalk to get a taxi....she looked over and saw Jack.

Yes. This week Jacob said "him." When he was stabbed, he said "they."

And I thought Widmore was an enemy of Ben over being kicked out of the Others, not Jacob/the Others.
