Yes, it's true that the LA folks are in 2004 time where as the island folks are in 2007. But is that really 3 years ago or still at the same time, like when the Sawyer, Juliet, etc. went back to the '70s? Even if the LA folks are from 2004, assuming that they're still alive in 2007, you'd think that the island folks will eventually meet their LA counterparts unless, like you said, the 2004 folks still wound up on the island 3 years later. But that would mean Jack on the island still has a son, etc.

In an unrelated note, I configured my DVR to record TV shows 2 min. before the scheduled time and to end 2 min. later. That means I've been getting the last 2 min. of the previous hour, which are "enhanced" reruns of the previous week. ABC referred to the fake Locke (remember when he appeared soon after Claire killed that black dude w/ an ax) as "smoke monster" and not "man in black".
The question returns to whether or not this is a 'parallel universe'. If it is, then they won't meet each other. Once you altered history, time went off on a separate tangent and there are two separate things happening. Think of the other dimension in Silent Hill.

I feel the opposite way, the picture is starting to clear up again. I love that they killed off Japan Man and Translator, his sidekick. We didn't need extraneous characters in a short season with so many holes left to fill, so I'm glad they're gone and will stop eating up valuable screen time that should be used to resolve the damn series. I loved that this ep centered on Sayid and to a lesser extent Clair/Kate/Aaron because we're getting back to the main characters and away from the new ones.
Iagree those who have followed Lost closely for the past 6 seasons are being rewarded now.

He said in every man there is a scale...(black/white rock) good/evil, meaning Jacob & the smoke monster are ONE man.

Evil Incarnate is a person who is dedicated to an ideal or goal more than people to the point where this person is willing to sacrifice huge masses of them to further this ideal or goal.

''He was the only thing keeping it out''....? He didnt say him...

I agree that would be a very real possibility, but I'd be pissed if the parallel universe turned out to be the reason. Mad I haven't seen "Silent Hill". Frown

I went back and relistened to the official podcast for LA X, it stood out to me that Damon/Carlton were very careful not to say that there are, in fact, parallel timelines now, they simply said that it's the prevailing theory at this point. They also made it clear that neither timeline is any less "real" than the other, and of course, that the two timelines will be reconciled by the end of the series.

As for the question about the 2004/2007 discrepancy, I forgot to mention that my theory would also require the return of time travel at some point this season, we'll just have to see though.

I'll miss the actor who played Lennon, who actually kindof looks like John Lennon... (Sayid slit his throat)... when he first appeared it took me a few minutes to recognize where I knew him from... he's the brother in Eastbound and Down.

But the character Lennon was just annoying.

----

Still wondering who 'little jacob' was referencing when he said to Smokey "You can't kill him"... did he mean Dothan? Which is why Sayid had to do it?

I'm begining to think we're thinking about the MIB all wrong. I remember seeing some talk with the creators where they mentioned he's not evil, he just has a different view of the world/island than Jacob. He is manipulating the actions of the Losties in a different way but he is still, just like Jacob, giving them a choice of what to do.
I'm still not sure we're looking at a good/evil dichotomy, though one may be more good and the other more evil. I think the main difference between the two characters centers around free will and fate.

And I hope there's an explanation of why the LA 2004 folks look as old as their 2007 counterparts, other than ABC's makeup artists aren't good enough. laugh out loud

I also hope Michael and Walt return, although it'll be really tough for the latter since he'd look so much older. Maybe they can work in the plot that he aged twice as fast as the other Losties ever since he got on and off the island.

I was going to MQ people but then it would have been everyone so now I'm just adding my own comment woot

I like the lighthouse theory but still have a feeling the cave was Jacob's spot. Until last night with when we heard the "Drunk Driver/ Almost Dead Son/ Life of Servitude scenario" I had previously thought before that it wasn't Jacob who was forcing people to stay on the Island but Ben. I remember when Ben gave Juliette the choice with her sisters relapse and thought that Ben was just bargaining with Juliette on "his" terms and not really Jacob's. Now after last night I wonder if Jacob is a bigger puppet master than I thought he was. Also I get confused as why we originally thought that Jacob was in the cabin and that's who Ben was conversing with (although now we know it was smokey) and I had figured Ben was getting directions from the wrong island person and that's why he was so evil, now I just don't know. This now sounds really confusing when I read it but oh well Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Anyway did anyone else have nightmares last night of the scene after the Temple is overrun and we hear the creepy Claire singing the "Falling Star Song" and Kate looking like WTF? I thought that whole thing was really well done but REALLY F'd UP!

It's bee confirmed that Harold Perrineau will return. The kid has grown but we know that, we saw him when John left the island looking much older (he was probably about 16 then). I'll bet he hasn't visibly aged much since. They can't get him back into 2004 unless there's more time travel, but he IS alive and can be part of the show.

That's cool Michael will return. Kids show age much faster than adults, so if he looked 16 then, he'll look like a college kid or graduate today, esp. if he got a late growth spurt. Makeup can only do so much. I hope ABC doesn't use another actor to portray a 16-y/o Walt. EEK!

They're smart enough to find a way around it, I'm sure. They know exactly how bad the backlash would be if there was a different Walt.

I truly wonder if they stockpiled some scenes with young Walt for use in the final season. That'd be AWESOME.

Yeah, that would be really neat if the producers had the final few episodes in mind several years ago and shot scenes with the younger Walt back then. Talk about great foresight! woot
