The little preview clip from the end of last week said that he "meets his demise," which may not necessarily mean his final resting place.

It'd be hard to see 10 more episodes without Ben there until the end..
So it turns out he didn't meet his demise and the previews lied.

On a related note, are the "enhanced" episodes fact that the creators' agree with or the opinion of somebody else?

Alex's last name is still Rousseau, shown on her email to the principal. Definitely wondering how Rousseau, an expeditioner from France, has a daughter living in America. Does Rousseau live in America now, blah blah blah.. ?

Speaking of Dharma, how does that tie in with Rousseau? Were they still traveling to the island, since it did exist (Ben's dad mentioned it)?

And Arzt was back! I wonder if he plays any significant role past this episode. neat little throwback and tie-in with the Black Rock. Love those little easter eggs. Smilie
I think you mean Arnzt.

'Lost:' The redemption of Benjamin Linus? [cnn.com]

That was an interesting episode. It was a little boring compared to last week's, but it was neat to see the flash-sideways of Ben. He wasn't evil there, but still a manipulator. Good to see Alex back. And my has she developed. They tried to make her look like the same age as on the island since it's the 2004 time line, but one can't fight mother nature, and unfortunately for her character, she looks too old, but fortunately for her, she has, well, like I said, developed. drool Embarrassment

The slo-mo ending at the end made me Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) but it's good to see them reunite. I assume Jack will tell Sun that Jin was doing well at the temple before the smoke monster ravaged it.

This was the 1st time we heard about the Dharma initiative in the 2004 LA time line. Interesting.

When do you think Jin and Sun will reunite? Will ABC drag it out to the finale? Confused

I'm tiring of Ilana. I don't know - she just doesn't appeal to me.

Widmore found the island! Whee
I think the Ilana character is quite compelling actually. She seems to be the only one that has a purpose, that has any idea of what's going on, even if she's still somewhat in the dark. Add into that the 'grieving daughter' persona and it's quite interesting. Plus, she has a nice ass. I'd hate to see her go but I'd love to watch her leave.

He DID meet his demise, though, in a way -- he seems to understand now the magnamity of what he did to Jacob and the island and wants to make it right, allowing others to control his fate rather than try to control theirs.

BTW, how amazing was it when Jack showed Richard that he FINALLY understood that they were on the island for a reason? This is a HUGE plot development, IMO.

Jack, always a man of science and logic, may have become the new Locke, believer in the island's powers and hoping to convince others of the same.

IMO, Jack did no such thing. All he did was show that HE was on the island for a reason, not that Richard was. I think Richard still has doubts, but has so much invested in the island that he probably has some more fight left in him. The beach group seem quite exasperated though, while Locke's faction seems very motivated. The former needs something to refocus their resolve.

I think I don't. Leslie Arzt [wikia.com] Smilie
HURLEY: Let me ask you something, Arnzt --

LESLIE ARZT: Arzt.

HURLEY: Arnzt.

LESLIE ARZT: No, not Arnzt. Arzt. A-R-Z-T. Arzt.

HURLEY: Sorry, man. Your name's hard to pronounce.

LESLIE ARZT: Oh, yeah? Well, I know a bunch of ninth graders who pronounce it just fine.

HURLEY: How about I just call you by your first name?

LESLIE ARZT: How about you don't?

HURLEY: Why not? I remember it from the plane's manifest. I think Leslie's a bitchin' name.

LESLIE ARZT: Arnzt is fine.

I'm calling him Arnzt, per his own request.

He said "they", implying them both. I think Richard knows that some people can't kill themselves, which is why he asked Jack to do it for him. But that doesn't mean that they are immortal and cannot be killed.

worship lol, I bow to your knowledge and punnery Smilie Great catch!

As for my using "they," it was just offhand to represent that Jack thinks that he and the people on the island are there for a reason. I think he may have said "we're here for a reason," during the episode, but this one bears rewatching. I think there are a TON of miniature clues in this episode, including the book that Ben digs around in the tent (The Chosen).

Ya, all the candidates are immune to suicide (hope this will be explained) but they can be killed by others, hence Locke dying. That's an interesting development there though, it actually looked like Jack was hoping that the dynamite would actually go off so he could die.

Does this mean Michael is/was a candidate as he tried killing himself repeatedly to no avail? (didn't that one dude from the others with the fake beard know he couldn't kill himself?...my memory is SOOOO bad!!) Smilie

The biggest thing that bugs me about Jack is from a long time ago with the Tattoo...'He walks amongst us, but isn't one of us' (again, something along those lines). Someone care to fill me in on that?!

I'm not sure he's telling Richard much that he doesn't already know. What Richard may have learned, is that he's not alone. I get the feeling that even while leading the Others, he felt like he was different from them.

Did they really say "meets his demise"? I thought the wording was that he would face his demise, which he certainly did.

What I think he's trying to say is jack is finally realizing he and kate and them are there for a reason. Nothing to do with richard. Jack was never really a believer in the island. ..but now he "gets it"
