You no/low carbers out there - what are good snacks I can pick up for a picky DD and my not-quite-as-picky dh?? This diet for them is so going to kill our budget... *sigh*
the q?
Pork Rinds (need Homer to say hmmm)
Beef Jerky (Turkey Jerky, etc)
Slim Jim sticks (I think they are low carb)
Cauliflower (love it raw)
Bacon (need Homer to say hmmm)
Deviled Eggs
Low carb tortillas (for crust) made into Pizzas (my favorite!)
Baked Parmesan cheese wafers
Bacon Wrapped Jalepenos, stuffed with cream cheese

Can you tell my brother used to Low Carb until his Gout kicked in...

*snip* When you receive food stamps and/or cash assistance... allocating your extra funds for things like Xbox Live Points is a slap in the face to the tax payers and to people in need who do not qualify for assistance. I know students, single parents and families who make just over the amount to qualify for any type of assistance (food stamps, cash, medical) who cut out every non-necessity and still come up short. In this case, she paid for these extras not with her own extra funds but with the tax payers funds that were given to her for food, not entertainment.

*snip*
Agree on the 'slap in the face to taxpayers.' I have nothing against people who qualify for food stamps or any other form of government assistance - I am pretty sure my family is just within the income guidelines to qualify for WIC, just haven't looked into further because though we would qualify we do not need it. Just because you qualify does not mean you should take it. To me, if you can afford luxuries/wants then you don't need assistance. Yes, it is an opinion....and one I will stick to because I don't think our culture at all understands wants vs. needs.

I recently had a friend who was upset that she could not afford to take her child to the dentist for a check-up because they did not have dental insurance. They had just purchased a brand new living room set literally the day before from a big furniture store...not cheap. The furniture was justified as a need while the child went without dental careConfused The old furniture was not in poor shape BTW...I think I would have sat on the floor before I let my child go without something I thought they needed.

Stress It has turned black and is infected. Docs are afraid it may spread or has spread to his heart. Pray that it is not the case....

Nice! That will come in handy for post baby workout wear... anyone find any good deals yet??

Too bad they don't put out a maternity clothing one. Frown Sadwalk

I have almost outgrown my maternity clothes - practically overnight. Yikes. Frown My belly just gets bigger and bigger!!
Maybe we should contact corporate and request a maternity TQ Wink I could go for a few new tops too - seems every pregnancy I need a size bigger, even though I usually lose most of my pregnancy weight in between.

Whee thanks ladies!!! that worked. duh, "f" for find LOL!!

and too true on the clothes and shoes. I wear an 8 in shoes but I bought 9 wides when I was preggo in the summer and the straps of my Birkenstocks were let all the way out...they still left lines on my poor swollen feet Faint
*snip*
Birkenstocks are the only thing I can wear to ward off sciatica pain! So glad my dr recommended them years ago!

OMG. i have a story.

I was in milwaukee area at target, and one lady was buying 3 johnson and johnson shampoos. and she had 3 clipped out coupons to go with them

the manager told her she could only use one coupon.

i tried telling her sh was wrong, and she told the lady to walk out of the store and come back into another register if she wanted to use all 3 coupons.

she then proceeded to tell me about 'coupon fraud' and a whole bunch of other BS. coupon fraud on 3 dollars?? i had to share this with you guys! it was unreal!
If you're ever back in this area, don't bother with either of the Targets in Waukesha. Both have told me repeatedly only 1 like TQ or MQ per transaction.

Great post - the wants vs. needs really sums it up!

I love thunderstorms! Well mostly, just not when I'm trying to sleep.

Ank, your poor nephew! Pray that he will be ok and heal. I will be paying closer attention to my kids ouchies. Kind of hard not to with all the baindaids we have they are always wanting a new one on.

We might be driving all the way to Phoenix later in the week. It is my uncle's funeral on Thur and then he will have a military burial at the Phoenix military cemetary. Sadwalk Hopefully we can make it if DH is able to complete the build he is on a day early. It is such a long. long. long. LONG. drive. with the kids. I think if one were to pretty much drive without stopping except when you need gas it could be 10 hours. Somethimes it takes us 16!!

woohoo for the home warranty company covering it!!! that's a huge deal. most of those companies are so shady they never cover an AC unit!

poor baby. I hope he's okay! keep us updated!!!

as for lowcarb, it can be very healthy as long as you use lean proteins and plenty of veggies. It's similiar to the way I eat except I also eat whole grains. No sugar, and no processed foods though nod

Ank, praying for your nephew....and his parents too....all of you.

Braved the downpours to do another run and was glad I did! Found another pair of free C9 shorts in a diff. color that I hadn't seen this morning, got some free toothbrushes. Was kind of glad that I forgot my Kellogg's q's this morning because the deal was better with the $1/1 Fiberplus that was posted in deals today. At checkout a CAT printed for $5/$25 school supply purchase. Don't even have a kid in school and I was excitedLMAO I always try to collect plenty of stuff to donate this time of year.

I'm kind of glad they moved the food stamps discussion over here....seems like people can't just -chat- about anything that involves politics/morals/ethics/opinions anymore w/o getting all huffy and madTeehee Heaven forbid we learn from one anotherWink

Teri, glad your home warranty is covering your AC....now that is a nice savings! We had a warranty for the first couple years we lived in this house and had to use it a couple times for minor things. Came in handy.
