Any of you buy/try the Harvest Cookies with the $1 bakery cookie. They are so yummy! Was eating one a day last week as an afternoon snack at work last week until I noticed last night they had over 450 calories per cookie! EEK! for that many calories I'm sure I could have found something much more decadent tasting and with a larger portion size.

I only have 3-4 left but I think I'll try only eating 1/2 per day.

So that's what derailed my weight loss! Those cookies are damned good. I'm glad I finished the last one (before I read your note). I had refused to look at the calorie count. By the way... I found a long hair baked into one. I saved it and the piece of cookie it was in. What would you do?

Eww! EEK!

After getting over the whole GROSS factor. Personally I would probably not do anything. $#!T happens, and after being baked into the cooking other than being disgusting it shouldn't be any kind of health risk. Might have complained to someone if it was somewhere other than T (or Wags), but considering how much I have saved there in the past I probably would let a hair in a 99-cent cookie slide.

But then I'm not usually one for confrontation and wouldn't want to risk getting a bad reputation at my T in exchange for some compensation for the hair. Too each his own though, and I sure wouldn't blame you for mailing it somewhere.

Again YUCK!

PS - I'm a bit slow - just noticed your icon. Are you from the KC area as well? Now I'm going to be worried about finding a hair in my remaining cookies

Mavis is a poop machine... I suppose it's cuz she's also an eating machine!!

I agree - abbreviations are perfectly acceptable in personal chat/email betwixt friends -- but in professional correspondence - WTH?????
[snip]
Ok that that is LAME!!! How can someone steal someone's phone?!?
hug I hope they are finding some answers for you. Yay on DS's OT. Sounds so cute that he is trying so hard with the yoga.

Parking is crazy here. Even when I was about to burst, I would just try to find the first open spot and park. I'd rather walk than deal with the crazies around here!

I agree about textspeak in professional correspondence. It's highly annoying and DOES NOT inspire confidence about their ability to perform all their duties.

I'm annoyed about the phone, but I think I can get the number and the minutes transferred to a new one. I meant to get one today but totally forgot. GRR.

I need to vent. I was at T on Friday night and the woman ahead of me in line gets her total $269.xx and my head jerks up to see what she had bought. She pulls a small stack of coupons out of her wallet and hands them to the cashier.
Wow. Just wow on that lady.
And I just realized that I'll be experiencing that same thing in a couple years!! 1 in college, 1 in K. Yikes!

I don't chat on the phone either. I don't hear things quite right or have a long enough attention span - so it's annoying and troublesome for me. But on the puter - different story. I'm a chatter box. But ya'll know that.

Ohhhhh... I wonder if you have to buy 2 to get the cat - I would luv me some of those cats. I refuse to pay what they ask for pop at regular price, so unless we get q's, we aren't getting any pop. (Which annoys dh cuz he just hates to do plain water.)

Quote from myluvjustice :
I hope Ank pops in and will let us know is baby Mavis is ok, since its hard to tell if squealer is credible or not, I'm curious who she/he really is!
I read that as "hope Ank poops..." and thought Whaaaattt???

Quote from skynsam :
Amusing to read all the stories. I don't have one that stands out above all the rest but ever gotten a box of twinkies instead of a birthday cake?
I got a gallon jar of pickles. (not that I complained that much cuz I actually love 'em - but still...)

We don't make over birthdays and such that much - we do some cake/ice cream and/or special event with the kids and get a couple gifts, but no big parties and such. We have friends who do a huge birthday bash for their son every year though. *shrug* I guess to each their own, eh?!

I love the cupcakes. My mother used to actually make those for us when we were kids. They were a huge hit and a lot of fun. My mother always used real maraschino cherries though - and if you are giving it to little ones you may want to watch out for a potential choking hazard if the cherry candies are hard ones. I don't remember what we did for the cones - I think she tended to just bake them the day of because I do know if they sit they will get soggy. But, baking the day of is a huge endeavor if you have to make a lot of them. The only other thing I could think of is maybe trying to line the inside with edible paper to hopefully slow/stop the sogginess - but that could be cumbersome and expensive. Honestly, most kids aren't going to care!

Okie dokie - now for a real health update on Mavis... Took both my babies to the doc's today - shots for the older, first check up for Mavis. My toddler is hobbling around and kind of whiny, but that's to be expected. She got 2 shots today - usually I just do 1, but they are ones she's had before and tolerated both well. I gave her some grape Advil, and apparently I don't do meds often because she tasted it and goes "THIS is medicine??" and then wanted more cuz it tasted good. LOL.

Mavis left the hospital weighing 8lbs 7 oz, and still weighed that much today. She eats constantly, so I don't know why she didn't realy gain any weight. Doc seemed a little bit concerned, and asked me to come in next week to do a weight check. If she's over 8lb 15oz, we're good - otherwise he said have the nurse fetch him. I don't know what would happen at that point. He also added a spinal ultrasound to her kidney ultrasound on 9/13. He said that there is a fork/split near her bottom that made him do this. He said often times it is something that shows up because a baby could have developed spina biffida, but didn't in the womb. He said sometimes it's a thing you look at and go "phew... dodged that and we're grateful", but he said sometimes there can be spinal abnormalities that may need attention. He said the most common one is a flap of tissue that will need to be clipped by a neuro-surgeon, and he also said that it is a very common procedure for them and sounds worse than what it really is.

So... waiting until the 13th to find out some of the more nail-biting issues. I'm not going to worry at this point though. No sense in driving myself nuts on top of it all because if there's a problem, we'll find it and fix it/deal with it. If no problems exist, then we're golden. Besides, I know my DH will do more than his fair share of worrying!

So... while it sounds like some kind of rotten news - everything else looks great on her.

hey all, I ended up back at the ER shortly after I posted earlier. They still don't know what's wrong. My sugar in the ambulance was 94. They don't think it's sugar, thyroid panel was fine, all labs normal. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist first thing tomorrow morning.

They think I'm a meth addict. I don't do drugs. I'm exhausted. I'll come back later to post. Nothing worse than the entire world thinking you're a drug addict nutjob. Something is effin wrong with me but noone knows what.

Thank you. We are very happy!!

For lunches - do you need recommendations as to what to put in the lunch, or a thermos to carry the lunch?

I can do the first, but the 2nd I have no clue on!

dreeme - I'm so sorry! I'll have you in my prayers!!! I sure hope they figure this out!

Did they check your sinuses and ears? If not, make sure the next doc does - it could be something ridiculously simple as a hidden sinus/ear infection.

Also, I've had dizzy episodes before that are caused by potassium granules that get lodged in the ear. It's utterly miserable, but it does eventually pass. I hope it's that simple and not anything of great significance.

I wish. Things have been a bit of a mess at work with ADP doing a number on our last payroll. Have been pulling my hair out trying to get it sorted.

I usually haunt the merriam, chouteau & legend T's though none of them are Super T's so I sometimes branch out further.

I try hard not to step on other SD toes and I DON"T S&G (unless it is the last day of the sale, sorry but all bets are off then) but I also don't try to fly under radar either. Instead I try to be outgoing friendly and flexible with the mood of the cashier or LOD on duty. Usually goes a long way in them not caring that I have a cart 3/4's full with 1-2 coupons for each.

Would almost be funny if it weren't so sad. My own grandmother died in her early 50's from liver damage. The damage was due to bad well water near an old munitions plant. But everyone in the hospital treated her horribly. She was an old school bible thumpin Christian that had never touched a drop of alcohol in her life (well except that one time some punch was spiked without her knowing but I digress) They all assumed she was an alcoholic and deserved the pain she was in. I was only in grade school but my mom remembers catching them whispering about her mom in the hallways. It hurt my mom so much.

I'll keep you in my prayers.

I haven't been to HyVee to do the cereal deal. Didn't even know about it. We left last Sat. so the new ad wasn't out yet and I haven't even bothered to look at it since we got back. It's HyVee, it's not like there is usually anything worth getting too excited about! Leave it to them to toss out a deal when I'm not looking.

It would be a very rare occurrence for it to be worth your while to drive 45 minutes to HyVee. Hell, it's not usually worth a 5 minute drive to HyVee. The cereal deal that thismom4deals mentioned is the exception rather than the rule.

Once in a while they will have something really good but for the most part their sales are a joke -- and what they occasionally think of as "Red Hot Deal" is enough to make you fall on the floor laughing at them.

We do have a HyVee thread in the grocery section. It's quite the relaxed thread since there is usually very little to report. Come on over.

I just live in a really rural area where there is a only HyVee and a Fareway and HyVee happens to be the lesser of two evils so to speak. That's all I have unless I want to drive an hour each way to Target or Wal-Mart.
Yeah Dia, what GT said about Hy-Vee. It is a rare occasion that they have something worth writing about LMAO I actually find more manager-special-type stuff there, unadvertised and it varies so much from store to store. Sometimes they will have good 3-day, 12-hour, or whatever the promo is type of sales and rarely there will be something at a good price....like Skippy PB Big Grin I ended up at 84 boxes of cerealEEK! I have been using the cats to buy, amongst other things, canning jars so that I can make lots and lots of freezer jam and other yummy stuff out of all of the produce I got cheap in the last days of the coupon at T. Smilie

Sorry about your Target GT!! hug that stinks. CR's have been excellent for the past year...knock. on. wood.

Sorry to hear that hug

If you end up back there, have them run the blood test for Lyme. It's a long shot, but you never know Dontknow

Just don't let them tell you that "we don't have lyme around here" or anything. I've been in Georgia for the last 10 years (which is when I contracted it), and I've NEVER EVER found a tick on me, crawling or buried in the skin. My doctor figures I must have had a tiny one (they can be the size of a head of a pin) in my hair at one point, and never noticed.

I'm sorry to hear about your health issues as hugfor the other if looked into as a professional matter . I'd say okay no explanation , need to cover all our bases..
If just idle speculation or gossip, they are are supposed to be professionals and I would't stand for it period. shake head Just because they can't diagnose it is no need to slander you, especially when your sick and frightened.
