I've tried couponing more than once. I don't know if I just don't have the time, patience or mental capacity. I just don't get it.
Every time I see someone in the store holding coupons, I cry a little on the inside.
The way I look at it is this. You have to evaluate the time spent versus the dollars saved. In a LOT of cases, the time is TOTALLY justified by the savings. Especially families with children. In some cases it's great, and in some cases it just isn't worth the effort.

Only you know the answer to that last one.

As far as mental capacity, hogwash! You seem an intelligent enough person!! Get jenni to help you get organized! Or read a few of the other articles out there about to easily and accurately organize coupons.

I use a database for coupons because, well, I'm just that much of a geek. This way, I can quickly find if I have a coupon for a specific item or type of item, know if it's retail specific, and base my purchasing decisions on some actual real data. I have it automatically remind me about coupons based on different criteria I establish, be it expiration dates, events, etc. Like, for example, if I have a coupon for a specific women-friendly store and there's a birthday coming up for my daughter, it knows "hey, your daughter likes stuff from this store!! Remind that old guy to use this coupon!!!!".

I call it CI - Coupon Intelligence!! I get maximum ROI with my CI!!

It's also not restricted to just physical coupons or D/G type items Find a coupon to Newegg? Goes in the database. Some dollar off promotion from Bill Me Later? Goes in the database. I like it this way because I can makes lots of notes about the coupons/offers/promotions/etc, and I can cross correlate promotions to a variety of stores just by having a separate table for retailers. For example, that last Bill Me Later promotion I mentioned, maybe it applies to multiple retailers. It makes it easier for me to keep track and make sense of the information this way.

It's just what works for me! Find what works for you!

OMG. I just wrote a techno-laced post that jenni MIGHT ACTUALLY READ!! Whee

Hey image nerds! My dear sweet partner in crime scanned a bunch of student artwork for me. It's all in PDF format. Does anyone have a quick (free) converter tool I can download? Pray

It's easy enough to do in Photoshop or the full version of Acrobat (not the free reader) version.

Do you have either?

If you don't, and feel safe sending them to me, I'll do them right now and send them back.

You can do it in photoshop, but since you probably don't have it -- I've heard of zamzar (it's online based), not sure if it puts a logo on the work or not Dontknow

My wife did a long time ago, and she started up again recently. She has a little folder thing she carries with her in her purse, and she has everything organized in sections.

While we're sitting and watching TV, she just goes through the newspaper and clips stuff out and whenever she gets a coupon in the mail, she files it accordingly laugh out loud Dontknow

I think the best approach is to start SMALL. Not big. And then build your method upon that.

In her article, she said she just uses a simple box with dividers. I'd start there.

Couponing requires a little diligence. Not lots of time but a little every so often.

If you don't keep up with it every so often it starts to feel like work because you have to wade through so much to get what you want out of it!!!

Yeah, well Mal has hurt my feelings quite a bit, so I'm tending to stay away from there for now

So I should start by getting the Sunday paper? laugh out loud I guess I don't see how people get overages. Maybe my fault is only shopping at Walmart and Target for food? I really don't like Krogers and refuse to shop at HEB. :picky:
