Other thread about how did you meet and how did they propose made me think of this since I saw a varying of lengths that people were together before the ? came...

What are peoples opinions?

I dated my wife for like...4.5 years? Had a 1.5 yr long engagement and we've been married for over two years.

Total time together is approximately 8 years.

but yeah..you guys are still young. No need to rush.

Yeah thats the main reason time isnt an issue, we are young and in no rush to settle down. We love each others company and see no reason to tie the knot so soon. Maybe if we were ready to have kids or something..

We've also only been living together a little over a year

Yeah but 8 years and 1 year... that's apples and oranges. If she had said "if I dated a guy for 8 years and he doesn't propose I would break it off" that would be a lot more understandable. Stick Out Tongue

Honestly, I think that my relationship right now is at the point where I could propose. However, I'm not in a financially stable enough place at the moment, and don't want to jump into something like that without being fully prepared.

well yes there is a HUGE difference
but it's understandable to say "well after (my answer here would be 3ish) x years, I just can't wait around anymore"

and if you live with them, it changes the answer too....
