Ehh, I just think webcams and cell phones make it really easy to do things without thinking them through. Using a camera, uploading a picture, sending it, etc takes a lot of time for the kid to think things through. IDK. That's just my opinion.
what about flashing someone? that makes the least amount of thought. Dontknow

Again, all it would take is for the PARENTS of the bullies and the schools where they go to stand up to these punks and stop the bully-friendly environment that thrives in our schools. We are in a super good school and one of my dear friends told me that days after she signed up to help on a committee to promote our school's "No Place for Hate" status that she found our her own kid is being bullied. It's everywhere, and it takes parents who are tuned in to their kids to stop it.
Problem is school are only paying lip service to the bully free zone stance, in my experience. There was a bully on the school bus that my kids rode last year, and at least once each week he was doing something. Throwing things at other kids, spitting on kids, kicking kids, knocking littler kids down. My kids would tell me about the incidents, and I would call the school because obviously the bus driver wasn't reporting it.

One day, he tried to pick on MY son, who doesn't take crap from anyone. My son pushed back, and my son was suspended for a day. I was also asked to make alternate arrangements for him to get home from school each day for a few days. The bully? He still rode the bus. I know because I asked my older child every day if the little jerk was on the bus.

Scratchhead Now that I think about it, I wonder if he was the bus driver's kid or something, there was some reason that his behavior was allowed to continue.

Yeah... I'd have been chatting with the school board over that crap.

I had bigger issues with the school than the bullying alone, and in the end I decided it was better to homeschool the kids. If they had stayed, I definitely would have contacted the school board.

Since this thread is dealing with technology......

Somebody should give their child a hidden camera to record the bully...being a bully. And then broadcast that idiot to the internet.

Ok - not truly suggesting it but bullies make me mad.

Maybe, it's according to school policy about having phones/ cameras at school but I DO like the idea of cameras on school buses, like are used in some major metropolitan areas.

At the same lines, there have been worse asshats that recorded kids beating the heck out of other kids and then posting it to youtube. Mad

cameras on school buses or whatever aren't going to do shit. if kids are going to bully one another or get into a fight, then they'll bully or fight.

I was thinking of this incident last year, and I know it isn't an isolated incident, and a lot depends on whether the bus driver gives a damn, or isn't scared of being the next victim so they don't say anything.

it has more to do with liability. a bus driver isn't a police man. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Yeah, it doesn't, but that doesn't produce an everlasting image for everyone to see.

that wasn't my point and it's irrelevant that the action does or doesn't produce an everlasting image or medium to be propagated. kids will continue to do stupid things whether or not they have access to cell phones, webcams, etc. blaming it on technology (proposing to ban/limit access) really isn't the solution. the adage: "guns don't kill people, people kill people" comes to mind..."cell phones don't take nude pics of your 13 yo. daughter, your daughter takes nude pics of herself." My point is that pictures and text messages and such create a sense of permanence of those images. If a 14 year old flashes her tits, the whole school is likely not to see it.

wouldn't be a problem if the 14 yo. didn't flash her tits in the first place. Dontknow

i don't know why people continue to harp on pictures and text messages. a kid at her school could've just as easily started a rumor that she had flashed her tits; that rumor could've just as easily been propagated throughout the entire school; and she could've just as likely received similar treatment. does mean we should stop kids from talking to one another in school? Dontknow
