mysterious "bruising" - Limited OT

5,257 3,968 October 30, 2010 at 10:50 AM in Chat
over the last 2 weeks i've developed many "bruises" and i have no idea where they came from. i haven't taken any falls, bumped into anything...nothing like that. what is weird is that you can't actually tell there's a bruise there - there is no discoloration of the skin. but when i touch that spot it hurts like it is a bruise.

there are "bruises" on one of my calves, both my knees, my left hip, my left butt cheek, my right upper arm, part of my right shoulder (on my back) and one or two places on my right breast. Ermm

it's very weird, and it's actually really bothering me. i've got all sorts of weird ailments running through my head right now. i promise that i have not taken a fall or a random roll down a big hill lately. this whole thing started about two weeks ago with my knees and has just gone from there.

diagnose me Lounge.

I've definitely become more of a vegetarian in the last few months, opting for tofu instead of meat. And if I do eat meat, its almost always chicken. If lack of red meat can cause it, then that is entirely possible. I've lost 20lbs since July, so I'm eating much less these days. Its possible there's a vitamin deficiency I suppose.

All these things can be diagnosed with a simple blood test though, right?

I'll call my PCP on Monday, probably in for testing on Tuesday. Blah, I really hate doctors.

DH just told me I'm dying of the HIV. Frown

That's the first thing he told me when I asked him what was wrong with me.

DH is slowly killing me with cyanide I think. Ermm

I've "decked" my wife once or twice in my sleep...so we switched sides of the bed and that problem has gone away...although one time I swore I woke up with her over me with a pillow in her hands...Big Grin

I'll be blunt. Bilirubin is the last stage of blood & is what makes poo brown. Therefore, if one is lacking in iron, which is in blood, poo starts to lose its brownishness. That's why when you take iron supplements (notice a magnet sticks to the side of the bottle?), it turns black.

So it turns light. BTW if it's light & it floats see a doc ASAP.

There's a lot of things that could cause it. I used to bruise very easily because of vitamin deficiency due to Celiac's Disease. Go to the Dr! Even if you take vitamins to help it could be masking a bigger issue.

Weird. How do your nails look? Iron deficiency can cause white lines on your nails like this

So you're not actually seeing bruising, your skin just feels tender in spots?
