mysterious "bruising" - Limited OT

5,257 3,968 October 30, 2010 at 10:50 AM in Chat
over the last 2 weeks i've developed many "bruises" and i have no idea where they came from. i haven't taken any falls, bumped into anything...nothing like that. what is weird is that you can't actually tell there's a bruise there - there is no discoloration of the skin. but when i touch that spot it hurts like it is a bruise.

there are "bruises" on one of my calves, both my knees, my left hip, my left butt cheek, my right upper arm, part of my right shoulder (on my back) and one or two places on my right breast. Ermm

it's very weird, and it's actually really bothering me. i've got all sorts of weird ailments running through my head right now. i promise that i have not taken a fall or a random roll down a big hill lately. this whole thing started about two weeks ago with my knees and has just gone from there.

diagnose me Lounge.

Everything I saw here is treatable.

For myself I usually wait a couple of weeks to see if things change on their own, the body is the best doctor of all.

Have you considered dairy & wheat allergies, the two most common adult onset allergies? You can test that by simply not eating very much of those for a couple weeks.

Please explain to me how a dairy allergy causes bruising. I'm honestly interested in the pathophysiology here.

Of course all of the conditions mentioned are treatable- and every single one of them has a better disease prognosis earlier in the disease course.

I'm still thrown off by the whole "invisible bruising" thing, though.

The body that is allergic to dairy revs up it's immune system when dairy is present in order to fight it. Immune system then attacks the body. That can be in various ways.

An ANA test is important.

Did you call the Dr yet? I had the exact same thing happen once but it was only on one leg in the thigh area, it hurt a lot like a bad bruise, a fist sized area but there was no discoloration. Then a few days and it was gone, never had anything like it since. I do bruise easily and I always have, but it's usually only when I bump into stuff. It's probably been 9 months and I am still alive. Whee I would have been pretty freaked out if it had been so many spots like you described though EEK!

i don't like doctors Annoyed

i always manage to convince myself that what i think is serious is totally not serious and totally not worth wasting a doctor's time. and i'm afraid of going in there with genuine concern and getting laughed out of the office with what amounts to a drunk girl falling down without realizing it. which, by the way, i can assure you did not happen.
I know what you mean. I feel the same way, but I usually go in, especially if DH keeps reminding me.

I had the worst back attack when my son was about 6 to 8 months old. I pulled something and/or something was out of place. I couldn't get out of bed for 2 days, finally was able to get to the Dr and they did a scan just to make sure my back was okay but his prescription was to "put the baby down" Doh once I started feeling the strain and advil or OTC pain reliever. laugh out loud Embarrassment

I don't mean this in a judgmental or rude manner, but aren't you the one that drinks alcohol excessively? It could very well have something to do with the amount of alcohol you are currently consuming, although, I am not a doctor so I don't know this to be a potential cause.

*sorry if I have you mistaken for someone else*
Nono Nope that's me. I have never met a box of fine wine that I didn't like! woot

Nono2 No wai! You never use ice with a fine box of wine. The wine then has less nose, waters down the palate, stifles the rich bouquet, weakens the legs and bruises the structure.

Well those expensive bottle wines might be different but IMO you might as well be drinking Ripple. Not that Ripple is bad with the right leftovers like Chili-Mac to appreciate the taste....it's just that Ripple can cost a little more per glass for the discerning consumer. nod

Thumbup Right! I chill it on the top shelf in the fridge and then put the spigot to the proper use like it was designed to be used. I sit on the floor and tilt my head back then twist 'er wide open.
