Did you watch?

For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

Just watched episode 1, thoughts:
1. When the hell will Hollywood learn about guns? At the roadblock at the beginning, the Sheriff tells the deputy to "make sure you've got a round in the chamber and the safety's off" First, Glocks don't have a safety and secondly, when he racks the slide, you can clearly see the gun IS NOT loaded. Doh
2. Cops can't shoot for s**t.
3. You wake up in a hospital and no one's around, you make your way out seeing blood and bullet holes on the walls and dead bodies, you come across a military camp and you don't think to find a weapon or "borrow" a Humvee?
4. Apparently zombies don't care about fresh meat if you're in a coma. Scratchhead
5. When the SHTF, I want Lennie James (Hawkins from Jericho) on my team, he's a badass mofo.
6. Zombies enjoy chillin' on the bus. laugh out loud
7. Again, when you see military equipment, including fully loaded M2 machine guns, you don't think to scavenge for weapons & supplies. Facepalm
8. A horse feeds a lot of zombies.
9. It's apparently better to crawl under a tank, rather than climb on top and try to get in or use the Ma Deuce to blast some undead a-holes.
10. The Sheriff has absolutely no survival mentality.

Update: Watching episode 2:
1. If you're gonna chop up a zombie, you may as well rob his ass. laugh out loud Hopefully he's an organ donor.

Okay, sooooooo it was raining REALLY hard as they were walking down the street. Hard enough (and long enough), to wash off not only the "stink" but some flesh and blood, too. Dark clouds covering the sky.

Fast forward 10 minutes and they are speeding through the streets RIGHT near the building housing the folks thay are attempting to rescue ... but the streets are dry as bone and there's not a cloud in the sky.

WTF????? Huh

One of the zombies looked like she coulda been kinda hot when she was alive. She was halfway crawling when the sheriff and that other guy were getting to the vehicles. Looked like her legs didn't work.

My biggest thing about guns is why the HELL he packed 6 shotties.... wtf needs more than one MAYBE two (to give to a survivor) guns when he's self sustaining? Waaay too heavy and all of that room could be used for ammo!

Haven't seen ep 2 yet. Hopefully you were joking tho... you wouldn't exactly want to transplant in an infected organ...

Good points about the guns, a semi-auto would pack more rounds and would make more sense. Although some folks prefer revolvers for their simplicity, less jamming and if you get a misfire just pull the trigger again. It did look like his bag only had guns and not extra ammo which is pretty dumb. Maybe the theory was the "New York reload", meaning when your gun goes empty it's quicker to draw a second gun than reload the first. Dontknow
As an aside, if I were in his place, I'd want an AR-15/M-16 (maybe even 2), a pair of Glock 17s w/ 33rd mags & as many fully loaded mags as I could carry. Definitely (at least) 2 sidearms, remember they are mechanical devices that could malfunction.

LMAO Once you see ep 2, and if you've seen "Scary Movie", you'll get that comment.

Yeah... that's just not practical. You don't just have those lying around, and I'm guessing his little town sheriff office wasn't big enough to have them. On a lot of zombie threads people dream about this gun or that gun... but that's just not a reality.

The only reason he might find a military gun in *this* scenario is because the military was put on patrol. That being said, I doubt he'd find enough ammo to really justify carrying it around for any amount of time.

Since we're talking about survival plans... might as well post mine..

Not practical, why not? AR-15s aren't that hard to come by, they are one of the most popular rifles on the US right now. I own 2. This show takes place in Georgia, so you can guarantee there are quite a few in civilian hands and realistically probably quite a few in even the smallest sheriff office. As for the M-16, that might be harder to come by, but he did pass by at least 2 caches of military gear (just outside the hospital and as he entered Atlanta) so I think it would be possible to find one. As for ammo, again very common. Of course the problem in *this* scenario would be that all the other survivors have at least a month headstart at gathering survival supplies.

I'm only watching this because the dude from Jericho is in it. laugh out loud I was flipping channels and heard his voice. It's a decent show, but I'm not holding out hope that it's going to do any better than Jericho did.

I miss Jericho. Sadbye

and Lost. Sadbye

Really, I'm not a TV addict - I am very choosy about what shows I DVR. Right now, this is it. And Mythbusters. laugh out loud

Agreed, Lennie James made the episode, he should have been cast as the main character.

BTW, The Walking Dead has already been renewed for a second season.

This is my new favorite show, by far. Just finished watching episode 3 and I can't WAIT until the next one

I haven't read the comic, so this show is great.

A silencer is not something that would just be laying around. There would be no reason for that Sheriff's Office to have one, anyways. And it's not like they are whisper-quiet anyways, they still make a decent amount of noise.

No, but you are telling me in the south... In Atlanta they wouldn't find a single silencer?

Yes i know but they make a he'll of a lot less noise than a non silenced one.
