Did you watch?
For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

Agreed with the beginning being confusing with the out of chronology showing but i think that was done more to get the viewers attention. The effects are great and so is the story line of zombies not being super human destroyers.
Could not wait for ep 2 when the 1st ep ended. Who the heck, what the heck was out there?
End of 2nd ep was fun but it was filled with little odd things the have already been pointed out. Bus and rain, although I didn't not notice the rain the first time.
Ep 3 was just as good and can't wait for the 4th. With all the helicopter talk, i thought someone might actually fly the copter but that would be way too easy. I do hope to see Lennie james back later in the season.

ahh! It follows the comics!
Thats why its like that in the beginning!
1. When the hell will Hollywood learn about guns? At the roadblock at the beginning, the Sheriff tells the deputy to "make sure you've got a round in the chamber and the safety's off" First, Glocks don't have a safety and secondly, when he racks the slide, you can clearly see the gun IS NOT loaded.
2. Cops can't shoot for s**t.
3. You wake up in a hospital and no one's around, you make your way out seeing blood and bullet holes on the walls and dead bodies, you come across a military camp and you don't think to find a weapon or "borrow" a Humvee?
4. Apparently zombies don't care about fresh meat if you're in a coma.
5. When the SHTF, I want Lennie James (Hawkins from Jericho) on my team, he's a badass mofo.
6. Zombies enjoy chillin' on the bus.
7. Again, when you see military equipment, including fully loaded M2 machine guns, you don't think to scavenge for weapons & supplies.
8. A horse feeds a lot of zombies.
9. It's apparently better to crawl under a tank, rather than climb on top and try to get in or use the Ma Deuce to blast some undead a-holes.
10. The Sheriff has absolutely no survival mentality.
Update: Watching episode 2:
1. If you're gonna chop up a zombie, you may as well rob his ass.
ALL OF THIS!! Not very good survivors on the show. I am loving it so far. We have had it DVR'ed since the premier and just watched ep 1 & 2 last night. Good stuff.
Yes i know but they make a he'll of a lot less noise than a non silenced one.
The comic follows the fact that in Atlanta the military was in control so there was no looting then shit hits the fan and everyone turns before they can loot the gunstore.
So Rick and Glenn go and do it.
I just don't see why you couldn't find one or mill one yourself.

This will be my last post in this thread, because I definitely don't want this show to be ruined by knowing the story.
They call them "geeks". But yeah, ideally a silencer would be awesome. Still, as someone who has used firearms with silencers before, I still think they would make too much noise. But certainly better with than without!

I haven't read the comic, so this show is great.

The biggest thought I had: Why the hell are they camping out in tents on the mountain?? I guess there's some logic to "they haven't come up this far", but I think they'd be better off holed up in a structure with 4 solid walls.

I want to rewatch episode 3 and make a few notes on it.

Makes no sense at all in my world. i mean I would find a private high-school and set up camp there.
It has the best odds of being fully stocked, having emergency rations, having its own power system (generator, solar and such), having almost anything you need in the science labs, as well has having sturdy gates and walls, a library and even a nurses office.
Less people would think to use a school as a safe house so you would have to worry less about survivor factions and you would be in an area that would be surrounded by houses which could be rummaged through to find something decent.
Any one have any problems with my reasoning?

lol I thought I was the only one who noticed that and thought it was funny
A silencer is not something that would just be laying around. There would be no reason for that Sheriff's Office to have one, anyways. And it's not like they are whisper-quiet anyways, they still make a decent amount of noise.
Someone needs to teach Daryl how to use a crossbow. First, he can't load it right. In the close-ups, you can clearly see when it's supposed to be cocked and loaded, the nock of the bolt (arrow) is well above the bow string and no way would it fire properly.
Secondly, last week he managed to shoot the deer in the ass twice and once low on the stomach. None of these would be fatal wounds. Maybe if he'd loaded correctly, he would have made better shots.

They are straying from the comic and mixing the timeline.
