Did you watch?

For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

Last night's episode was a female driven episode or so they said on The Talking Dead afterwards and there were a lot of really really good performances. Yes it may have been a filler episode but I think they got it right this time with this one.
i wouldn't call it a filler episode any more than Morgan's extended backstory. we learned a lot about Carol's and Maggie's states of mind, got to see the group through another lens, and got some conflicting information on Negan.

i liked it, but i tend to like bottle episodes. [tvtropes.org] i thought Carol was 100% playing possum early on, but it really does seem like her faith in her worldview has been shaken by Morgan and the wolf. selfishly, i don't like this because Carol has been one of my favorite characters, partially because of her willingness to do literally anything she thought necessary to keep the group safe.

thankfully for everyone, Maggie now has ice in her veins, maybe as a result of those maternal hormones kicking in. i wonder what Hershel would think of her insisting she and Carol stay until everyone in the opposing group is dead. i mean, you could make a case it was the right call, but if you would have told me two seasons ago that Maggie would be convincing Carol to kill people, i would have asked if you had the characters reversed.

it's character-driven, dialogue-rich episodes like this that keep me watching this show. i've played enough video games and watched enough of earlier seasons than zombie battles/kills are boring, and doing something that shows the interplay between characters/groups is far more interesting.

Don't get me wrong. Backstory and character development it did a lot. Did it really advance the plot or story arch? I don't think so as we're no closer to Negan or any confrontation so it felt more like filler.

What?? No dick jokes yet? So, What is Carol planning? She got a lot of info while held in captivity. Daryl should have killed Dwight. They just keep forgetting what needs to be done. The carts of guns are coming out. Only 2 episodes left

I only saw the first 20-30 mins of this weeks episode, so I have no comment yet. However, lack of comments here and not a single facebook post in my newsfeed Monday morning makes me think I didn't miss much? Dontknow

Seems to me like you missed 20-30 minutes...which isn't nothing...Scratchhead It was another good one, with a pretty crazy death but it wasn't an OG so there isn't going to be an outcry.

Eugene successfully executing a wang chomp on the first try and managing to hold on for that long might have been the most unrealistic thing on this show since that truck landed on its wheels after falling from the bridge. first, assuming those denim jeans Dwight was wearing have a metal fly, the chances of Eugene getting initial purchase are already very low, and that's if he even guesses the correct way Dwight is hanging, as it were. second, there isn't a man alive that doesn't have cat-like reflexes to move his junk out of the way of any threat. third, as soon as Eugene clamps down, Dwight would have simply shot him in the head, not squirmed around on the ground for half a minute. sure, it was funny and a way to get across Eugene's progress in the ways of the new world, but combined with the fact several men with automatic weapons weren't able to kill two unarmed people twenty feet from them, the whole scene was a stretch, even for this show.

so, among other things, Carol's goodbye letter was basically a huge "eff you" to Morgan, right? since Sophia died in front of that barn, Carol has recognized the new reality of this world is you either kill or are killed (by walkers or people), and a short logical leap from there is if you're unwilling to kill to protect yourself and those you love, they're better off without unless you possess some other indispensable skill (medical care, ranger/recon, farmer, etc.). barring that, you're simply another mouth to feed and a hostage waiting to happen. Morgan has refused to kill for a while and has not displayed any indispensable skills, so she's basically saying he's a selfish person for staying after she has the decency to leave, right?

i know i've said this before, but Daryl's instincts/judgement have sucked for the last couple seasons. from getting baited into the wolves' glaringly obvious food truck trap to helping Dwight escape to allowing his sentimentality to get him to follow train tracks again, his batting average has taken a precipitous dive.

i know i'm supposed to be sad about Denise, but i find it hard to be. if we've learned anything in this show (other than not to trust anyone), it's that going into a situation unprepared is stupid, bordering on suicidal. for all his gradual progress, Eugene was surprised by a smelted walker and likely would have been bitten if Abraham wouldn't have been there. and that was after he'd been out in the wild for a time with Rick's group and actually had a kill under his belt. Denise wanted to eat the elephant all at once, and while that kind of confidence/bravery is commendable in some cases, it's foolhardy when she had a choice to do it in a more stepped manner. Daryl and Sasha tried to impress this upon her, but she went against their advice in the name of confronting her fears, completely ignoring the fact that as the only "real" doctor, she's most useful to the group inside the walls and safe. from a group survival standpoint, she was one of the most important members, and she willfully squandered that.

ignoring the idiocy of the train track/dick biting sequence, i liked the episode. important stuff happened, and it's nice when they use the discovery of abhorrent actions of normal people (in this case, the drowning of a child in the name of survival) to go to a dark place instead of relying on literal darkness and the skewed moral landscape of the now-hardened survivors. it hearkens back to the days of season one when everything seemed almost relatable for its relatively short distance from our current lives.

the "Fear the Walking Dead' show is not based on the comics ..is it? I dont care for the show, but did watch the first episode that implied there was a cure for cancer and that lead to the zombies. (or something like that). AND...here comes Negan!!! I think Glen is done.

if there's one TV trope i hate more than the rest, it's an intentionally visually-misleading cliffhanger. it's so lazy and transparent. before last night, Glenn's dumpster "death" was TWD's worst example, but i'd be willing to bet next week will prove Daryl's is the new low. which is a shame considering the relatively good stuff we're getting between Rick/Morgan and Carol's flight.

FTWD is not. It's completely unique to TV so they have no template to go by so we'll see how that goes. Could be a good thing.

I have never seen a show with so many commercials, I told DH I will not buy 1 product that was advertised during showing of TWD...just can't remember what the commercials were.

And...really, the ending was so lame. Show who was beaten / killed to keep my interest and make me want to return next season. Put a fork in me, I'm done...

Totally disappointed with the ending. Dragging the episode out so long and not show who dies, really? I suspect it will be Eugene or Abraham- but Glen wouldn't surprise me. Obviously it isn't Carol or Carl, and I doubt its Rick or Daryl. Not impressed with the episode at all.

Extremely, extremely disappointed with this slap-in-the-face finish.

We got 80 minutes of driving / walking around, mostly one group, a stupid plot device to get nearly a dozen main characters in one spot merely for speculation purposes, string us along with a drawn out entrance for Negan, and then they pull a balls-less blackout ending like that?

Big middle finger to the viewers, Gimple.

My thinking is that the majority will not return if it's their favorite character. Fanbases are fickle like that. I can tell you right now if Daryl was shown as killed off, you can best believe the Daryl honks aren't going to come back to watch next season or are slowly going to trickle away. Same goes for Maggie, and a pregnant Maggie nonetheless, same goes for Rick, same goes for Carl. Unless it's a lesser character, there will be some blow back all summer going into the season premiere and it's all about ratings, make no mistake. It didn't shock me at all they had the cliffhanger like that.

Yeah, at the time I was surprised it was a cliffhanger, but now I'm not. It makes sense.

I liked the episode. Was hoping for more, but was also surprised by the "knights" or whatever on horses who showed up. woot

I can probably predict the season opener will be a recap and we still won't know who is killed.
