It's more than semantics, and I should know better than to respect comments from anyone that would laugh at someone's idiocy. This is a place to share and benefit, not mock.

The problem is that when people here have tried to share their knowledge and educate you, you just mock them and ignore the truth so you can continue to wallow in your ignorance.

It's not that they're charging a flat rate, but that they are listing xx more hours on the time sheet and getting paid for that. Charge a flat rate and make a lot of money but don't lie to someone by charging for six hours if it only took you two and why post an hourly rate if you're not sticking to it? You should be posing a per task rate instead.

Get it straight already, your so set in your way you totally miss what I'm posting every time.
Okay Censored because you are such a Censored and you think posting a per task rate is the way to go, let me give you an example of what a per task rate in hours would be for a 2004 GMC Envoy, and then you will see that it would be IMPOSSIBLE to post a per task rate for EVERY TYPE OF VEHICLE OUT THERE !!

Brake System Complete - Replace wheel cylinders, brake shoes and/or calipers and pads. Clean, lube and/or replace brake hardware as necessary. Repack wheel bearings on full floating rear axles with drum brakes. Inspect master cylinder, all hoses and bleed system. Adjust brakes where applicable. DOES NOT include refinishing.
All Wheels - Labor = 3.6 hours

Calipers - Includes Bleed System and replace pads if necessary
Both - Labor = 1.4 hours

Disc Rotor - Includes Repack wheel bearings, where applicable and replace pads if necessary. DOES NOT include refinishing.
Both - Labor = 1.0 hours

Master Cylinder - Includes Bleed System. NOTE: If used in conjunction with any other brake operation deduct .4 hours.
All Applicable Models - Labor = 1.8 hours

Now imagine trying to list per task rate for EVERY TYPE OF VEHICLE OUT THERE every type of vehicle job required - it would be next to impossible to do - that is why there is a program and/or book that tells them what the hours are that are paid to do each and every job on a vehicle. You would be amazed at how little hours are paid for some items, such as 0.2 or 0.1 hours for some things - and again, it takes the Technician time to put that vehicle up on a lift, take apart what is needed, go get the part if it is in-house, or order it, etc.

Your are a Censored person again with synapse problems within your brain - might you have your brain stem checked out - it might help with your understanding of all of this.

Like BikerEric I have the above information at my fingertips, and I'll out play you with this game any day of the week, as I have 33 years of experience in this field Censored

Correct your brain needs examined to see if the synapses are working correctly, because your logic is non-logical in this thread - that or your brain is the size of a pea - which would explain your responses Censored

Say six hours is what everybody's agreed to as a reasonable time to do that job. On some cars that can be very optimistic and actually takes much longer, while on others it can take a bit less time. Since you're obviously not working on cars like many of us, you've never had to deal with stripped, broken, rounded-off, stuck, or otherwise screwed up fasteners and parts. Mad Cleaning mating surfaces or inspecting parts take time, plus certain procedures and tests have to be performed after some jobs, which can take a while to perform. For example, I can replace my water pump in 20 minutes, once the coolant is drained (takes time) and then properly bleeding the air out of the coolant system can take an hour!

I looked in the collision manual for my Chevy Impala just now, it lists 1 hour for the water pump on the 3.4L V6 (water pump is easy to reach and change, but bleeding takes a while, see above), 1 hr for the 3.8L V6 (water pump is much harder to reach and remove, but I think bleeding is easier) but then they only list 0.3 hours to change the battery vomit Lmao, replacing the battery in 18 minutes in a GM W-Body is veryyyy optimistic haha. I love having to remove braces and disconnect wiring just to bust my hands removing the battery, grrr.
