bunnies, can they repair it? How much is it? I know they have cheaper machines. Basic as all hell but anything is better than ringing out clothes.

Can you manage the cost of a used one? (Or were you the one who won't buy used? Can't remember) My last.... umm, few have been used.

Got a stackable for my upstairs bathroom -- paid $200 for it at an auction, that was 3 or 4 years ago.

My regular dryer I got a few years ago for $25 at an appliance store. They had a Labor Day or Memorial Day or some holiday "buy our used stuff cheap" sale. It matches my washer, that was kind of nice.

So, did the thread just get full and a new one was opened or did I miss something?

Today feels like Saturday. I don't know why. Hubby is at work, as usual and other than him being home on the weekends, there is no difference in any day of the week for me.Dontknow

Yeah they can fix it, as long as I am willing to be ripped off Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)
It was the motor that went and to replace it is over $200.00 I did my homework to see if I could find a motor cheaper. No luck. Darn thing is only 4 years old and we did not extend our warranty. This time I am getting an extended warranty.

No worries though, we have been through tough times before. I am grateful that we are not in foreclosure, I am grateful we have food, water, clothing and of course towels!

It could be much worse. I am a happy camper!

Oh, and did you try bypassing the lid switch? Very, very good chance that is your problem. I think every washer I have ever had including one bought new - has had that damn switch bypassed cuz it went bad.
I won't buy off of craigslist. I was/am kinda picky about that. We did looked at used appliance stores, but, we can't afford a thing..nada, nothing, zip. The bills are paid and we have $80.00 to live on for the next 14 days. This includes gas and food.

The guy said it wasn't the lid switch. I can't even figure out how to get the damn thing open to try and bypass just to see for myself.

Sorry for not posting the DPCI. I'll get right to that. Will everyone forgive me for my total lapse in judgement???
yes if you send each of us a mixer. Evil

laugh out loud

Ank..I usually don't post a lot of personal information about myself. I did want to say that I can relate to the financial woes. We are in the same boat. I usually sit at the computer and play eenie, meenie, miny, moe with the bills.

I can't overly complain though, because all the bills are paid..but I can't afford a new washing machine. It will have to wait a little longer and I must say I am gaining muscle in my arms from having to wring out the clothes. The washer washes and drains, it just don't spin.

As to owing the library..we owed a few months back. We usually borrow dvd's from our library, we were 2 days late returning, so we owed $2.00. I called and explained that we just didn't have it, is there anything we could do? I told them I would be willing to donate paper items from my stock pile in exchange for the waived fee and they did it!

Yes it was only $2.00 but at that time..we didn't have $2.00. It was pitiful, I was pitiful, but it worked out. So long story short.....hug
bunnies... hug
washer... heard from a friend, lowes has a 6 months no interest deal. would that work for you guys? something to look into...
also, on hot deals saw a thread for a washer at sears for 7xx.xx ... plus some % discount additional... another thing to look into.

but most of all, hon, on craigslist, people are constantly giving away washers because of remodeling, upgrades etc. i'd suggest looking at the listings for your neighboring states also, and major metro areas...

what about one of those rent to own places? a friend of mine got a new washer-dryer set as a rental a few years ago. she paid a nominal amount a month with no intent to keep it, but then a year out realized she'd already paid enough that with a small difference it would be hers to keep. and so it was.

you're not pathetic on the $2 part. thanks to this economy, so many of us have found ourselves in terribly hard places. they're hard to verbalize and hard to conceive. but so it is. and all one can do is navigate those times with honor and ingenuity - which is what you did with library. kudos! and thanks for being an inspiration!

now can you Please put that knife away? laugh out loud

p.s. on a separate but related note, for all of you feeling overwhelmed by bills, one by one call each utility, each credit card, each loan provider/creditor and negotiate, negotiate, negotiate. you'll be surprised how much you can save that way. everyone's under pressure and companies are feeling that, so they're agreeing to give discounts, change payments etc to keep customers/keep getting money. no harm in trying!

Hey somebody here (old thread gone, can't find who) needs a wall mount bracket for a flatscreen. Did you see the one at Meritline [meritline.com]? It's $7.99 + ship. To Iowa it was about $10 shipping, to 90210 it was $5.50. It fits up to a 37".

Here's one for you...we ran 2 electric fireplaces last winter instead of our propane heater. The overall cost was about $1000.00 cheaper. Anyhoo, we got behind on the electric bill. We owed them $600.00 so I called and set up a payment plan. Let's say it was $100.00 for 6 months.

So we are going along paying our $100.00 extra per month. We pay for 4 months. On the 5th month, I paid the full balance. So now we owe them zero money.

We get a shut off notice!! Here's why...we agreed to pay $100.00 for six months. We broke the contract when we paid ahead!! So we had to scramble to come up with the extra $100.00

So I learned a lesson that day!

Hey peoples, no one in particular but everyone in general....

If you ask me to send you something, I need your email address. If you ask and I pm you back asking for your email address, please leave what it is that you want sent in the pm.

When I get several PMs, asking for different things and I have to ask for an email and then wait for an answer, I don't remember who wanted what. And I don't keep old PMs to go back and read through them and figure it out.
