...I'm sooooo excited about the bakery tq. I am going to load up on bagels - one of my favorite bread items. I can be good too - I can do 1/2 a bagel and be satisfied. I think I'll use them as my Sunday morning treats. woot I may grab a few muffins too. Might be good as an item to put in the freezer for taking to moms with newborns. I hope there's a good sale on the cheese.
ank, in college i was so addicted to bagels, but i'd eat them fast without even realizing: big bites, one giant bagel done in 4-5 bites. EEK!

shake head

then i learned to do this: cut the sliced bagel in half. then take each of those crescents and cut slices several slices, so you'll basically end up with a pile of "oval" bagel pieces. i would then smear a thin layer of cream cheese on one slice. eat. next slice, smear. eat. and so on and so forth. the process of doing that one at a time, plus just the visual of so many slices allowed me to feel satisfied much sooner than if i took large bites and wolfed down a bagel.

result: i ended up eating a quarter to eighth of a bagel in one sitting. Big Grin

and now you have me craving a warm cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. not as easy to slice. and i don't want to slice it cos anyway you slice it, i will eat it all. i think. Embarrassment

Did not find a hidden GC deal on candy today. I only had 2 Mars BOGO coupons left so just went ahead and used them.

Awaiting Nestle coupons that should arrive Monday for more candy deals. Big Grin

I had never noticed that Archer Farms has a chocolate soy milk. I've been buying the Silk at $4 per half gallon. AF is $2.49 here and dh said it tastes closer to Nequik than the Silk chocolate milk does. yummy Monkey toddler wants to be like the big kids and drink chocolate milk.
Wow, that's expensive. It runs about 2.99 here and goes on sale to 2.50 quite often. We can't drink it though, so I typically get the almond milk. Sometimes I get the Lactaid, but not very often. Target's brand of Lactaid isn't too bad either - unless you have milk protein allergy!

Have you thought of buying some chocolate syrup and mixing it in? That works pretty well unless your toddler decides to start drinking the chocolate from the bottle...

jumping tracks...

On the misbehaving kids thing - been there. Recently. Faint Makes you want to melt into the floor when your kid acts up. I don't like to let my toddler walk because I *KNOW* she'll be one of those ones that will tear down an aisle if the mood takes her. And at some point - the mood will. Kids should definitely be made to apologize when they do something that hurts (or could potentially hurt) someone else - even if it's an accident. I also make a point to apologize. Just what I do. (hubby says I over-apologize sometimes...) At any rate, it's very very challenging taking kids shopping. Single mom or not - with hubby or not - close to nap/meal time or not... yada yada.

I don't think that kids should be expected to stay home at all times. Part of taking them out is that they are being taught how to appropriately behave in public. (or, in my theory they are - some folks may not care) Yes, they will mess up, but that is how they will really learn something.

I would typically remove my kid from the store if they started acting up, but it's a bit more difficult of a decision when you are actually almost done checking out (minutes from payment) and they start a fit. Especially if it's one of the few times you have to get to the store and/or are out of essentials. It's very frustrating!

Hmm... I know ours does the same thing - marks down on Thursday for Thurs/Fri. Maybe I need to go earlier in the day - maybe all the good stuff is gone by the time I typically get there. Or maybe mine is just lame. *laugh*

Ours never has marked down produce though - which I thought is kind of odd. *shrug*

I'm sooooo excited about the bakery tq. I am going to load up on bagels - one of my favorite bread items. I can be good too - I can do 1/2 a bagel and be satisfied. I think I'll use them as my Sunday morning treats. woot I may grab a few muffins too. Might be good as an item to put in the freezer for taking to moms with newborns. the meat for the sale is re-stickered and i know the people in expanded grocery work earlier in the day b/c i got a song and dance about them until i was able to get somebody who knew where stuff was to go back there and check if there were any more strawberries in the back one time. first she came out w/ one box. hello? anybody home? the reason i asked you to go back there was b/c there werent any out! so she goes back there and brings out a full flat of six boxes. it wasn't that late, maybe 4-5pm and the store is open till 10. not to mention people looking for easy food come after work. when i worked retail, you were trained that if you were getting something from the back, you had to bring more to put out. just better productivity. hear that corporate watchers???

but our expanded grocery is slow in a high volume store b/c everybody has to go to the supermarket too. only impulse shoppers buy and me! so if there is a good meat deal i can get in on it late friday or even saturday.

no clearance produce here either. i think they don't put it out often enough so sometimes it looks crappy. probably another reason expanded grocery is not doing as well as it should. that and the bug problem.

we don't have much bakery selection. french bread, demi french, multigrain that is not whole wht (bread pretending to be healthy), white hamburger, hotdog, dinner rolls, whole wheat rolls, sub rolls and 2 kinds of naan. lots of different iced cookies muffins and some breakfast breads but i stay away from all that.

have to pay more money to eat healthy Sadwalk.

just taking a break from bathroom scrubbing. back to work!

My mom and I are going into Atlanta on Tuesday and I want to know if anyone knows of any freebie things to do/get in a mall setting? We're both limited on funds and I got my freebie genes from my mom, haha. I know we'll stop at Aveda for their shampoo freebie and Saks for the Foursquare/Nars lipstick...anything else? Even just samples and stuff will make us both happy (this is the closest I can get for a 'girls day out' with my mom, I'd like to make it enjoyable)

there's no single dedicated staples thread, my friend. none. they sprout up like mushrooms in HD, though.
you have to go to hot deals and use search this forum, select in thread titles only as the option and then keyword staples. that will give you a more targeted list of threads. and then set up a deal alert for hot deals, staples, instant notification, daily PM (or email if you prefer). what that will do is send you one message a day for any staples threads that are started that day. that's the best way to keep track.

Thanks, getgreen! I'll give that a shot!

ank, I buy the Nesquik syrup as well but they prefer the ready made chocolate milk. At some stores I can get it for the same price as the 2% milk, and I definitely enjoy the convenience. Smilie

Cathi, you found a hidden gift card deal? I forgot to scan the bags when I was there. I can admit it.

Once each day my 8 yr old gets a glass with the Carnation instant breakfast in it, whether chocolate or strawberry. Smilie

kallison, is there a sephora there? if so, you and your mum could do free walk-in make up tutorials/tryouts where they do makeup for you, with no purchase needed but as a way to get an idea for future things. Wink

plus, sephora allows each person to get upto 3 samples each. they have a great collection of perfumes and their perfume sample vials are generous. Big Grin
of course you could also get makeup samples if you prefer.

be on the lookout for old navy qs also... cos with qs things can be free. not freebies, per se, but you know what i mean.

Who's gonna try the new Glade TQ??? Guess I need to go looking for some glade mq's![/QUOTE] snip

I used the 20% TQ today. It auto'd to take the 20% off each candle making them $5.59. When she scanned the cpn it showed up on screen as taking off $4.20 (which is the correct amount for 3 candles) and receipt shows "coupon 20%" attached to each candle. SO from what I am figuring it would have been better to use the $5gc wyb 3. (which I accidentally still had in my stack)...of course it beeped "how much is coupon" when she scanned it. oops so I took it back. LOL HTH

Oh yeah, forgot about Sephora! I should make my mom sign up for a Beauty Insider card for her birthday freebie this month! hehe

I have quite a few Kohls Qs left, as well. So we'll stop by there (and possibly T, though she hates going to T with me).

Oh, Godiva has a free piece of chocolate too (forgive me for my dieting sins, but damnit if I don't love a free piece of Godiva!)

Wave I suppose I live in the land of sucky inserts. We didn't get the candy Q today. We didn't get the Mars one when it came out either. No International Delights (pints or quarts) last week or before. . . I live on the quarts. I don't want coffee anymore if I can't have the SF Hazelnut Creamer and it only comes in quarts.

PAGING Muffintop - if you want the ensure Qs, I need an addy.

Which insert is the creamer mq in? We don't use that so you can have them, if we have that coupon locally.

Is the free John Frieda at Ulta still valid?
