Maybe that's part of the problem... They see your stuff and think you have lots of money - and you've kind of become their welfare system if they aren't required to learn how to do it themselves or how to budget their paycheck-to-paycheck! They are taking advantage of you!

I would consider going over to them and saying something like, "I've been thinking about our conversation the other day. I don't think you realize that we are in the same boat and live paycheck to paycheck as well. I realize I have been just giving you these things, and not only have I given you a misrepresentation of our finances, but I think I have I have kind of crippled you by not teaching you how to do what I do, and I'm sorry for that. What I should be doing is teaching you how to shop wisely so you can stretch your money. I would like to show you what I do. These are the days I am going shopping... which day do you want to go with me?"

I'm all for helping out folks and gifting things away (and DH even more so - he'd give our cars away if someone asked...), but there's a point where you have to watch for someone taking advantage of you too.

Take 'em shopping, have them come over early so they can see how you would match up a sale + q, etc... If they refuse and make excuses - you'll know they are just expecting a handout. At that point, I'd refuse to keep gifting them that much stuff.
Ank..I have a big mouth and I did let this person know! I have had this conversation with this person several times about couponing, blah, blah, blah. I did tell this person that I was done handing things over. I wasn't mean about it and basically said what you said. I did tell this person that I was going shopping tomorrow and they could come and learn and if they didn't come, I was done. End of the freebie train.

Their comment really hurt. I don't think they meant their comment to be hurtful, but man it was!

I watched the video of the little girl killed by the 13 year old driver. So so sad. I must say though, the family that suffered the loss was quite nice in their response to the other family. I know that eventually forgiveness is needed, but I would have been a raging lunatic if my child had been killed.

I worry about that all of the time. If she had been walking 2 minutes later she'd still be alive. Ugh.

So, T's new update on their FB page: "Sales and coupons and discounts, oh my! How did YOU save money on your last Target trip?"

Some interesting comments about coupons, too. And people are still saying to boycott.

Great advice ank. My neighbor doesn't have a car either and she already owes me $$ I know I will never see. I will not give her money, she has bought a few things here and there from me but mostly she just finally asks for stuff. When she asks I cave, (everything I give her has my GS tags on it) so she knows she is taking my sale items. Our DDs are really good friends too. Dontknow It does make me feel good to help her out and I hope it helps my karma in some way.

Oh I totally agree, that is how my ****** is when I have shopped with her. I know she knows how she just doesn't do it and now her internet is turned off. I mean I want one of YOU all for a shopping buddy, we could shop the store way faster if we each took a side for checking clearance, coupons and deals.

I dream of having a SD shopping buddy. Big Grin

I'd be the slow one though... I really need to learn to pick up the pace and be a bit more organized.

Need to vent...a neighbor came over this morning. I gave this person about $200.00 worth of items. Laundry detergent, tooth paste, brushes, razors, deodorant, etc.

Anyhoo..I was talking with said neighbor and neighbor says..yeah we have it worse then you right now, we are living paycheck to paycheck.

I wanted to scream, because as you guys all know, we are living paycheck to paycheck. I keep telling this person, I will teach them to use coupons, etc, etc. So far, no interest.

But the comment, of them having it worse then us really got to me. We gift this family on a monthly basis about $400.00 woth of items. So that's my vent. I guess I resented the comment.

Yeah but your so rich just look at all your stuff! I have a neighbor down the street who is a single mom and she thinks the same way. I have actually took her coupon shopping a few times and she knows she should do it, she has a few times on her own, kinda (after I give her most of the Qs) but then she gets lazy. It is just so much easier to raid my pantry, she gets all the rewards and does none of the work! I was going to say cut em off your way to nice AND you are! But I realized I am doing the same thing!
you guys are just too nice! need to put my fishing siggie back!

if i were you guys, i would just say, sorry, finances are tight right now, i'm going to have to sell it for a reasonable price from now on. or i can take you a couple times, show you how to do it and you can go get the stuff yourself.

time is money. the time you spend reading up on the deals, printing and clipping coupons, going to the store and buying, bringing it home and unpacking and storing it away you should be compensated for unless you donate it to charity. and then you get a tax receipt so you can deduct it. do these people do anything at all in return??? mow your lawn, watch your kids, cook you a meal???

it's ok to be generous once in awhile. it's not ok when they come to depend on it and take advantage. they are like drug addicts and you need to cut them off. they will not coming running to help you when you need it.

I would love one too. Of course if you and I were shopping together, it would be a snail's pace because both of us would be the slow one Roll

Many people I've talked to think I was too harsh in not letting her attend homecoming. One person even said "Come on - homecoming only happens a few times in a person's life. Ground her after homecoming".
I commend you. I used to have a friend who would occasionally ground one of her kids. Oh, except for sports practice.. or games... or school activities... or church youth group... or field trips.

Can someone tell me what is wrong with me...I don't have a fever but terrible body ache and feeling chilly...It is freaking 80 outside and I am wearing a hoodie....I am going to take a nap after I have fed the kids...
Well.... we might not be able to tell you exactly what is wrong... but many of us can probably tell you what comes next. At least it hits and leave pretty quickly.
Quote from Nikayla :
I hope they never come here how awefull! Nothing ruins being outside like bugs on the attack.
The lady bugs are all over but at least they aren't as bitey as they have been some years. Even though they are everywhere I think I've only been bit once. It's the little tiny black noseeums that are particularly horrible and biting like crazy right now. I can't walk outside without getting bit.
Quote from Sunup4 :
but then she gets lazy.
I think that's the case more often than not. If someone is really interested in learning you are going to know it right away. And more often than not, I would be willing to bet that the ones who may want to learn are the same one who will at least offer to pay you for the items. Extend an invite, answer any questions but other than that, sell your stuff, stop giving it away.

You aren't getting it free, there is still sales tax, paper, printer ink, gas to fetch your newspapers and run to the stores, the cost if you have to buy papers, etc. That's not even considering all the hours each week spent organizing.

Not that an excuse is necessary but now is a perfect time too. I'm pretty sure your budget is tight and you need to make some extra money to provide Christmas for your kids.Wink

Scratchhead How can I be print limit reached for Qs I've never printed at coupons.com?

I'm at work and only one other person can log in to my computer, but I sincerely doubt the IT person would be printing Qs from it. I've never printed Tilex, Litehouse dressing, Caribou Coffee, Go 360 Clean, Dannon DanActive, Listerine for Kids, Scrubbing Bubbles, Lice MD Sick, Garnier Nutritioniste, and a different Scrubbing Bubbles but they ALL show as print limit reached. Scratchhead

Makes me wonder about HDD's problem. . .
