RETIRED: Target chit chat

Still no shopping for me.. Spent a day at home cleaning, cooking, and playing with my toddler. She and I were the only ones home tonight, so we went for a nice walk around the neighborhood. SHe was so cute telling me she saw a "hangmail moon" About 6 months ago my DH had her outside and they were looking at the moon. He was telling her how it looked like a fingernail.. She always complains when she has a fingernail that snags stuff and tells me she has a "hangmail".. so now, everytime the moon is a quarter or so, she relates it to her hangnails,
And on the topic of kids saying the silliest things.. she has a super keen sense of smell. Seriously, that girl can sniff out anything. You can eat one bite of something, and she will tell you what it was. She is so funny cause when she poops, she can't stand the smell and holds her nose.. Anyway, today I was eating something for lunch and she didn't like the way it smelled. SHe came over and said "what's that smell mommy?" I told her I thought it was my food, and she replied "I think it is your booty mommy"

No, I used up some of my savings pass from V-day.

Nah, wasn't because of anyone here (I've come in contact with some lovely jackasses on other forums today). Just want to make sure no one gets the wrong idea about me, that's all.

Work sucked. The LOD isn't the funnest. The store was slooooow and I was crampy, bitchy, and not in the mood.

I had three reusable bag ladies tonight. I wanted to rip my hair out.

Jamie, I'm so with you on reusable bags....and I'm not a cashier I can't even count the times that I've been behind someone that has a ton of them and it does take forever. I have one that I carry only because I have soooooooo many plastic ones at home and if I'm just picking up a few things I don't need to add another to the pile. But I will never use them for everything. There is one city looking at banning them here, which the heck out of me.

And no need to go crazy-environmentalist on me...suffice it to say that I don't believe a lot of the save-our-planet type of stuff to be the truth. Even for .05 per bag @ T. I use mine rarely! And I don't mean to be rude to those that do - it's a preference, just stating that it does take longer. And when you're in the checkout lane with a cranky kid every second counts before

Anyone ever been to Disney World? I am thinking ofgoing there next spring/summer after my daughter's school gets out. I need SERIOUS direction on getting the best rates. Too bad Target doesn't have a travel agency.

I had three reusable bag ladies tonight. I wanted to rip my hair out.

What's the problem with reusable bags?

i'm guessing it's a pain to unfold, open, organize, line up on top of counter/scanning area and try to stuff bag. slows you down, especially when someone has lots of bags and lots of stuff. whereas with the plastic bags, they are conveniently positioned below the counter and already opened, so as a cashier you can bag much faster/more easily.

I always figures my cashiers liked my reusable bags because they just throw everything in there like they're tossing trash- seems easier to them. But then again, I use 1 or 2 bags and each are pretty large. Eh.

You make me so glad I'm too lazy to use mine. I cannot imagine them trying to stuff an entire cart into fabric bags and balance them all at the end of the lane.

That drives me nuts too....or when the cashier puts the package of raw meat in with other stuff and not in a bag of its own Usually I catch it but on occasion I've gotten home and discover it. Never thought of bagging my own....some of the baggers are very careless.

The stain is really a matter of personal preference and somewhat the project you're completing. 9 times out of 10 I use the stain/poly combos because they save time. They are more sticky though - I find that regular stain is easier to apply for me but everyone is different. BUT hands down, for me, in doing this table I found that my preferred method for applying stain is to use a foam brush, then wipe the excess off with a cloth. I put on gloves (sensitive skin + oil-based stain can't be removed with water found that out the hard way) then dip the brush - you don't need much on there. Apply and let stand a couple seconds then wipe away with the cloth and I am in love with the results.

We only chose a non-combo stain this time because we needed a precise color (aren't as many colors available around here in the combos though I suppose you could maybe mix your own.) I'd probably screw that up And I want plenty of coats of poly on my tabletop since it will get a lot of wear and tear. Our current tabletop's finish is wearing badly....it was refinished and I know it did not have enough coats of poly. If you use the combo you might want to put additional coats of just poly over the top since it's a table.

Dh just dropped the kids off at Karate and stopped by Target again to have the Guy call another store. Lo and behold they found one of the missing 10" tvs in this store and remembered dh from 2 hrs ago .Dh bought it and is bringing it home . YAY

I really wanted one after I read about the reviews on the target thread. We are in a hurricane zone and just the summer tropical storms alone cause us to have frequent power outages. We are often in tornado zones during those storms and it sux when the power is out and we can't get the news

We have a weather radio but nothing like seeing the news weather guys constantly update the tornado & flooding locations.

I had a dream about the booklet last night. It had a lot of stupid Qs in it. I hope my dream comes true. I popped my WAGS cherry last week buying butterfingers. It went well, but I don't think I'm ready to do it again anytime soon.

M FIL wants to take us to .urlhasbeenblocked. for Xmas this year, last year he did a swing set for the backyard - he likes to do one big thing that we really wont do for ourselves. We can go to either the Concord/Charlotte NC location or the Williamsburg VA which is just 25 minutes farther away.

ok, i think i live in the wrong area of the country! i think in my area cashiers love reusable bags! in my area, if you use reusable bags, everybody ends up bagging our own, mostly just to speed things up. that, and luckily the supermarket registers are very accurate so you do need to check your receipt b4 you leave but you just need to watch when they are scanning your q's for the fac's and beeping ones that need to be adjusted down.

you should see bff's overflowing cart after we've finished bagging everything. she'll use almost 20 bags and some stuff usually ends up in my cart.

the targets around here don't have a second belt area behind them to hold all the stuff for bagging so sometimes if they know b4 starting that you have reusable bags, they'll hang them open on the bag hooks so they can put the stuff in just like the plastic ones.

or, i'll just hold the bag open and they can just throw things right in after scanning it.

however, i need to stop using reusable bags for a few wks. i never buy kitchen garbage bags for garbage, just for storing stuff or transporting clean stuff. we are running out of shopping bags and dh likes target bags b/c they never have holes and are a little bigger than the supermarket ones.

Tomorrow dh and I celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary.

I have had a hard life and even harder marriage, but thru the thick of it all we recently have become so much closer and happier than we ever thought we could be.

Love at first sight for him, me not so much, but we became close friends very, very fast. Dated for 6 mnths then married when he was in bootcamp. We wanted to stay together and travel the world.

Then I got cervical cancer, large chunk of cervix removed and was told to hurry and have babies befoer cancer came back. It was a rough time because dh was in a rough often deployed career. I had to go thru fertility treatments.

Got preggo. Had rough pregnancy, very, very scary. Dh got orders to Korea alone during my 7th mnth.

I was very ill but my doc(on military base refused to help get dh orders changed, said I was fine)

We traveled from Fl to Ca so I could stay with family and I started having complications on the road(we drove a rental truck with belongings cross country) We stopped at 3 emergency rooms along way because of major complications.

2 weeks into moving in and settling down in Ca, dh was packing to go to Korea and his family demanded we go drive 4 hrs to their house. I wasn't feeling well but was forced tp go,

In major pain along the way I begged to go home and lay down or go to er.Dh said no and then finally MIL said I was just worrying too much. I went straight to the room and cried.Baby stopped moving, but noone wanted to listen.

Made appt with OB because of my fears.

Delivered 28 week Stillborn on Thanksgiving.

I despise Thanksgiving Day and would rather not function that day because 12 yrs later it still hurts my heart badly.

2 yrs later,I almost lost my twins at 28 gestation in
fact we almost all died when I hemorhagged after ds placenta abrupted.Good thing though because his twin sisters
placenta was clotted to the point of my previous stillborn

( I have blood clot disorder) DD would have died that night had my son not did the crazy soumersault into the placenta abrupting thing

So here dh and I are with lots of drama from get go, even more horror stories from family issues and having special need twins(one has aspergers, the other brain damage and CP, both look/act normal but dh,myself and specialists have to work overtime with kids therapies. and I homeschool)

I am looking for things to do tomorrow, and I surf the net for local activities at the beach where we live in NW Fl

2nd time ever DH took leave from work for anniversary, So I want to go have fun

I am going to do my best to focus on my anniversary and celebrate the good in our life and marriage.
I am not going to shut down like I do every Thanksgiving, but I will light a candle at 7pm along with the "wave of light" across the world.

But dang ............. can't a girl catch a break every now and then???


setsail, I am sorry for not saying anything sooner regarding your stillborn and your hubby's reaction. I can relate to your pain and understand how it feels to want hubby to feel and acknowledge that day. My hubs would rather not celebrate turkey day , he feels as I that the "celebration" aspect is gone. But the fact that we have kids pushed us to have traditions and give them some sort of "holiday"
DD having Aspergers demand for traditional Turkey day. LOL. so we go thru the motions for her and my son and we get thru it.
But I can see the pain in hubs eyes. We have some things that we do,say and have in our house that require is to say our stillborns name daily, we did this so that he is always around (in mind and spirit). I didn't post for lack of words but because I wanted to say so much to you about, just you and wanting to comfort you. I am sorry I didn't step up.

It always helps when people step up on T-Day for me and I should have done same for you.
