When someone brings a big corp. into the spotlight and gives them a "fraud" label, they will do everything they can to cover their ass.

That's all fine but here's the problem.

The cashiers are not trained properly in coupon usage, coupon verbage, or entering of coupons. Some cashiers are told "if the coupon scans, we take it." A big majority of the time the coupons that don't scan and deduct are target's own coupons. They aren't fraudulent or invalid, they just aren't properly coded.

It makes for a headache of a trip. The downside is that this new CCV screen will slow down the checkout process, irritate managers and cashiers, and leach their good time from their checkout score. That in turn will cause more limits and denials on valid coupons. Which causes more consumer complaints.

Target thought they were unlabeling themselves by doing this but now they've created a bigger problem. Consumers that don't use coupons will opt for a competitive retailer for speedier checkout where a screen isn't prompted on every single coupon. Before any of the updates the coupon & checkout process at target was fast and most cashiers were friendly because it required no extra thought process on their parts. (ie. the register did all the work) Now it's going to be a PITA and more and more coupon consumers will find other outlets for saving money.

Given the Holiday season approaching and Target making these drastic changes, I see lots of problems in the near future.

Ugh, the lack of sleep from dd being sick finally caught up with her yesterday (she was a total crab!!) and now with me today. I feel like I could sleep the rest of the day. Did some Hy-Vee cereal runs this AM and now I just want to crash. And I think I will do just that after I eat some lunch since dh is out helping his dad bale hay on his day off and dd went to grammy's house on her day off. Well, what's a mom to do? I really need to finish cleaning and fold laundry. Dh said we can go to T. and get my (& Jamie's Big Grin) iPad tonight!!! B-day is tomorrow but I can't pass up his offer of an early present Wink And I firmly believe that when dh's invite friends or family over to celebrate their dw's b-days they should have to do the cleaning and picking up that comes with having company over laugh out loud

I just don't see how they could believe that inserting another screen prompt would fix the problem they created with updates earlier this year. I agree with you, if they don't get this changed, and fast, there will be a lot of unhappy customers at T this holiday season.

Me too. I can't imagine that they didn't test their programming before rolling out. The automatically adjusting down was intended, getting caught adjusting down $$/x coupons was unintended. jmo

i think basically removing any autoing for the $/x was the fastest, easiest way to deal w/ the problems they were having w/ the negative media publicity. notice the bogo's are still working. the autoing down probably affected a huge portion of the coupon computer code so they just disabled it and put in the check screen.

it takes a long time and money to test which they obviously don't ever do very thoroughly. my cuz used to work for doubleclick which does much of the banner ads and his whole entire job was basically to try to break things. i don't think target spends enough money on the coupon aspect of their pos. and obviously marketing and markdowns never communicate w/ each other.

many companies are under pressure to roll things out by a certain deadline and then internal politics and egos delay the work and they don't have enough time to test b4 the rollout. most of the best slickdeals are a result of not enough testing and supervision. my bff used to work in online retail and her company was a front page slickdeal twice. once for $10 off $10 when they first rolled out google checkout. she admitted it was b/c they didn't do enough testing. they cancelled most of the orders but i think the OP of the thread was able to place hundreds of dollars of orders b4 they caught it. the other front page slickdeal was a black friday one, again, no supervision going on during holiday wknd, but she was happy b/c they were trying to unload that dvd and it cost them $4 and it was selling for $6 so it was still profitable. i actually was the one who told her what was going on and she let it ride.

Iagree And now the cashiers have 1 more reason to deny perfectly legitimate cpns..Also if you think from a cashier's perspective, how many cpns are they going to K1...I would normally use 15-20 regular $$$$ cpns every tranny, I really dont think they would K1 so many cpns....Also even if you pad your order for GC deals, the cpns will beep making it a major headache...Who are these dumb programmers...

The upside to this is the cashiers will get used to every single coupon causing this error, and will get in the habit of K1'ing every single one without question. At least, that's my hope. That's why I'm giving them as much time to learn new habits as I possibly can, before gracing that hidjus store with my presence once again.

Setsail, I am very sad, because I looked through about 8 of the inserts I got, and couldn't find that glossy sheet. I still have another 50 or more to go through, so I haven't given up hope yet. What county are you in?

Yes. I have gotten better about it though. Of course, I am no longer hauling kids and most of the time not dogs anymore.

I wanted the house absolutely perfect when I left too. I have eased up. It's still not a mess or anything -- but if the bed isn't made or the toilet isn't freshly scrubbed, I now go right out the door and leave.

I still making packing lists and I generally over pack for our cabin fishing trip. Usually too much food.

This summer I also determined that I normally over pack cloths too. Ya see... I went off and left my fishing shorts at home. I had 3 pair of nice shorts along but wanted to save them for going places. Soooo, I wore the same pair of shorts all week long fishing. Next year, I'm wearing my fishing cloths, sticking some underwear in my purse and calling it good. Big GrinWink

Actually having kids has changed me...Earlier when I went out with DH, I would just throw in a jeans, shorts, couple of tees and be on my happy way...Never ever thought of packing food/water..Always pulled into a gas station and bought stuff....But now not so much...

As for the house cleaning part I am still obsessed about it before leaving..vaccuming,laundy, scrubbing toilets, bed made, everything....

Your time will come. It just occurred to me when that changed. It happened at exactly the same time that I left on vacation and left young adult (18-23) children at home. By themselves. In my house.

On the coupon discussion.. even though the screen is popping up, the coupons are still auto'ing down.. atleast for me. I used a nestle 2.50/2 bag coupon this morning.. Don't remember if that particular coupon beeped, but probably cause the rest all did.. anyway, I noticed on my receipt that it adjusted down in price to the cost of one of my butterfingers.
And, I am having tons of problems with stuff not scanning the same as shelf price. I know I should check everything at the scanner before checkout, but I don't always Frown today, I got the simply lemonade singles that were shelf priced at 1.02 and noticed later they rang at 1.27. The kraft cheese with philly cream cheese in it was tagged at 1.84 but scanned at 2.04.. I got 8 bags of it.. And 2 nights ago, I grabbed some bacon that was tagged at 3.29 and it rang up over 4.00 a pack. I need to gather all my receipts, and take them back.. Target is cheating me out of money every time I shop.
