My queen size had the flocking on one side. It held up just fine, didn't hurt it a bit. It's actually kind of nice cuz then when you are wet you don't get that wet skin on plastic thing either sliding all over or skidding to a dead stop.

The other nice thing about them -- they are stable. You can move around and not flip off. I have sat right in the middle of mine with my lunch on a plate, reading a book with no mishaps.

Easy Fudge:

- Pour into 8x8 buttered pan

Variations:

I also have poured the fudge into mini-muffin pans with paper nut-cup liners to make them more "fancy" for gift giving.

This is really a hard recipe to mess up. And tastes great!

I had this once several years ago as a T-Day left-over made by a sister in-law. It was YUMMY!
She also made a delicious Asian Turkey Salad with Dried Cranberries, Fresh Ginger and Bean Sprouts. Kind of like a Waldorf Salad but oh so good. Funny thing was I remember thinking it was going to suck and I'd just be polite and take one or two bites.

Okay, so I need some advice. My son is fixing to be 7 and wants an iPod for christmas. I am the most iPod challenged human on this earth. I don't think he's mature/responsible enough for anything touch screen, but I also don't want to get him something that's going to quit working. I saw the little nano ones for like 50 bucks but they are reeeeally small and easy for him to lose.

So gimme the low-down on what's good and what's not.

My 7 & 8 year old have Ipod touches and do awesome with them... my dh downloads the games for them and they love it.. I bought one for my 5 going to be 6 year old for Christmas... apparently they have been clearancing out alot of the 3rd generations as they have the 4th generation that just came out...

We bought one of the clearance Memorex MP3 players from Target last year. It's nice, fairly durable, and easy for a 7 year old to use.

I hear a lot of good things about the SanDisk players as well.

SanDisk 4gb [target.com]

I know a few moms that bought refurbished iPods for great prices and haven't had any issues.

OMG Mine just turned 7 this month and I'm positive he has no clue what an I-Pod is. Though his grandma has one of those new I-Pad or Kindles or both actually and one of them has some silly touch screen slide game. Kind of like the old hard plastic games with the squares you slid around. I'm sure he would love whatever device had that but wouldn't have a clue what else it was good for.

Personally, I really wouldn't get it for him. Both because I also doubt he is old enough but also because aren't they suppose to run with head-phones? I'm not the most paranoid mother but I'd be a bit concerned about him using the head-phones. I'd worry a bit about their harm to his hearing and also the possible danger he could get into if distracted while he had them on.

Then again, if you decide to get one for your son, I'd be the first to let you know if I saw a good deal. After all it's your decision not mine. And just because this is something I might be Leary of giving my son I'm sure if you reviewed my parenting choices you would find plenty of things that would have given you pause as well.

That's what the girls got last year, iPod Nano. This year, netbooks. The rationale (and agreement) is that they also have to do some creative writing during the non-school work hours.

TheGhost has a good point about the head phones. The kids around here prefer the traditional old school style head phones, no ear buds. We also have the little folding speaker systems *cough Target after Christmas 75% clearance cough* and now the girls have iPod/ cd players in their rooms.

My oldest tells wonderful stories but has a hard time *writing* down her stories. I've been trying to find a way for years to get her to record the stories she tells us or her siblings (and I don't mean lies, I mean great stories), and she has a long running story that she and my dad have been carrying on for years.

It wasn't until earlier this year that I thought to ask her about typing it out in Word. She loved it! Said it was a much easier way for her to write down her story.

My nephew is 8 and broke my SILs iPod Touch...and it ended up on the 'sh*t my kids ruined' site and book laugh out loud

LOL My kids are also asking for a cell phone... the answer on that is a firm NO!! I cannot imagine seeing my kids using a cell phone that early...although in the school district they are in, cell phones are common by first grade...can you picture??? I NEED your address again... You know whats funny...is my kiddos use the ipod for games more than music go figure..or they will use it on their docking station... but they are very conscious about putting them up so the little ones do not get them.

I can say we had 2 sansas before and they were very good.. My kids all started with those cheaper "ipod" type things. They had to prove they were responsible before they got more expensive ones.

I have had a shuffle, a nano, the old 30G big ipod, and now a touch.. I really liked the nano alot. Part of the reason was because it was so small and light weight. I think they hold up better because they *dont* have a touch screen.
My oldest got his first ipod 2 years ago when he was 15.. although he had gotten several different MP3 players before. The 2 middle ones had Zunes that I had gotten a great deal on buy.com, and I upgraded them to IPOD touch last CHristmas.. They were 15 and 12.. The 12 year old, now 13 just recently messed his up. Had it in his pocket at a ballgame and it started raining.. He won't be getting a replacement any time soonRoll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Mine didn't get ipods until the last 2 years, but have had game systems for as long as I can remember.. comes from having a DH that is a gamer.. I swear my oldest has been playing nintendo since he could walk laugh out loud

The oldest 2 have cell phones.. they are 16 and 17.. my 13 year old begs for one, but I told him it isn't happening until he is 15 or 16.. when they drive, they must be able to call me and let me know where they arenod


All this food talk has made me so hungry.. Been craving fudge now.. I love making cookies and candies.. We dip pretzels, nuts, ritz, and all kinds of stuff. I love peanut butter kiss cookies.. one reason I have been stocking up on the hershey kisses at targetbounce
Thanksgiving dinner for us is always at my MIL.. she makes certain things everyone likes.
turkey and dressing
mashed potatoes (for my FIL)
hashbrown casserole (for most everyone else drool)
green beans
crescent rolls
ham
sweet potatoe or pumpkin pie

the deserts are usually varied, but always include lemon icebox pie..
