Yes, getgreen, directly across the street from the firehouse. You get used to it....but they seem to fly out of there with differing degrees of urgency. Sometimes it is just like BAM and they're honking the horns loud with the sirens blaring and other times it is less hurried. Depends if traffic notices and stops/gets out of the way quickly too. And today has been one of those days where it just does not cease and is loud and shocking every time.

I will never forget the time dd was a baby and they came out of there so fast and loud that it scared her half to death. She was just innocently sitting on the floor in our living room playing (and by this time had heard it a million times before) and the look on her face was one of distraught horror and fear at the sound because it was so sudden.

The plus side is that our home insurance premiums are lower because we are so close that in the event of a fire they'd be right there.

We split up our santa gifts about half and half....I like to do themes based on what I have for toys. This year we got dd a lot of Thomas stuff and a bunch of play animals from the T. toy clearance so that is from us and the misc. stuff is from Santa along with the Tag. Jr. TS3 and books. Then her bday is in Feb. and I have stuff set aside plus whatever I find at the Jan. clearance....and then I go from there. Kinda weird with her bday so close to Christmas ya know?

ANOTHER fire truck just went blazing out as I was typing.....we're across the street.
We lived 2 blocks from the fire department for 10 years. We were sitting in the living room one day and a light flicking on our wall caught our attention. Started looking, got up and looked out the window. Yep, it was a fire truck -- we noticed the light but we didn't even hear it when it pulled up with the siren screaming. It had become a sound we didn't hear. (no fire, guy next door was hurt)
Quote from getgreen09 :
i carried everything to the car and drove the car further down the street so i wasn't visible from the windows. i had already hidden the paper in the trunk under a bunch of stuff.
i sat in the driver's seat for the next 3 hours, wrapping.
That is hilarious. I've done some last minute sneaking around -- but it never involved taking the gifts for a ride.

It does bring to mind one last minute assembly. We always had Christmas Eve at hubbys and at that time it usually went kind of late. Got home, kicked off the shoes, put kid to bed, needed to assemble a wagon. Panty hose came off next. Ever try to sit on a bed in a skirt and assemble a wagon? Off went the skirt. I hate clothes. So, little by little, off they went. So, here we were, pretty much naked, assembling a wagon, with a giant tub of vaseline on the bed to lubricate the wagon stuff.

Yeah, tell me about it. My daughter's is in February too. But my son's is worse -- it's New Year's Eve.

MMM... I think I'm going to have to make up a peppermint mocha cheesecake. I'll name it the "L2B"

So, tell me this. When we buy a $1 grocery item and use a $1 TQ does it reduce our taxable total buy $1 since we don't have a tax on food?
If it attaches to the food item and you are not taxed on food, then the TQ does not affect your tax basis at all.

If the TQ has to be k1'd, then it comes off of your general merchandise total and lowers your tax basis on general merchandise.

Really? Do you have to do mypoints to get the mq?
I think you just have to be a member. But like someone else posted, it's probably on coupons.com. Just under which zip, I have no idea. It wasn't on mine, but there's no telling what zips I have currently for it and mypoints. laugh out loud Have you found it yet?

ETA, why in the world did that photo icon come up?

Do you have to be a Borders reward member to use the coupon? It says you do, but you know how that goes sometimes!

Yes, the coupon won't deduct without a rewards number. The membership is free, and I'm always happy to share mine. Wink

Okay, I decided to keep my DD up.. We played in the bath tub for 45 minutes.. got dressed and painted all her fingers and toes.. she loves nail polish. She is so funny cause she likes the glitter topcoat kind of polish, but instead of saying sparkles, she says she wants "sprinkles" on her toes laugh out loud
. We decided to stay home since I haven't been feeling well and it is so cold here. (maybe not cold to you guys, but cold for us) all wear hoodie type jackets during the winter:
Love the sprinkles, makes me smile. Hope you feel better.

Windy and cold here (for SC at least) My heater decided to die last night and I woke up to 30* in my house this morning. brrrrr. Off to get some space heaters tonight.

DD had her last OB appt. She lost her plug this am and has dilated to 3 cm so she doesn't have to go in tonight for cervadil I am praying that she continues dilating and goes into full labor before they have to give her pitocin.

Can't believe it's here and I'm gonna have a granddaughter to spoil :

Congratulations, things sound like they are going better than expected. You are going to have soooo much fun spoiling her .

Wow, busy day here! The HIGH here today was about 8 degrees laugh out loud I don't even want to know what the low was....well below zero. No more wind though and sun so I can fool myself if I open some of the blinds where the sun is coming in - it feels warm.

Water was backing up in our utility sink again....we had to call back the same ppl we had here last week to correct the problem. Seems to be fixed now :

I need to go through dd's toys before Christmas!! I think I will go do that while she is still sleeping....
Stay warm,,,that is cooold.
If you have any more problems, buy this thing at the hardware store called a drain King , hubby says he got one for about ten dollars. Was a last resort before he called a pluber a long time ago and he had tried everthing. This thing worked like a charm . He swears by it , http://www.kk.org/cooltools/archives/000190.php

He got ours at an ACE Hardware.

I coughed so much at work today that my coworker brought me a hand full of cough drops.. Sad thing is, I have about 50 bags at home that I forgot to bring.. Almost everyone I work with has this same stupid cold. I am hoping while I am off all next week, that the germs will die down and I can get all well before Christmas!
Hope you feel better.

Posting quickly while my daughter is in the shower, then I'm going to go read and catch up! Got the iPod, everything worked beeeeyoooooteeefully!

$295.00
50.00 gift card
-------------------
$345.00
-$29.50 Target Coupon -- so it did take the 10% off the full price
-$50.00 Giftcard Free
-----------
$265.50

Now here's the part that confuses me:
IA Tax 7.0% on $200.50 = $14.04

The $15/$150 gift card is on and off of there too. Everything scanned perfectly. Nice guy even asked if I'd like him to combine my 2 gift cards.
Glad it worked well for you ... weird that the other person had problem. No explanation for the tax thing.

I need to catch up too, Cathi.

dreeme, didn't realize you were having your wisdom teeth pulled. Hope it heals quickly for you. hug

kallison, how is the unpacking going?

rachael, she's a doll! Almost makes me want another, ,.... almost. lol

gt, that is a great deal for your dd's present! woot

teri, how is your dd doing? Or did I miss a birth announcement? bounce

getgreen, Borders sure can pull it up by email address. I've used two coupons in a row, one on my card and then they pull up my oldest dd's rewards account for the second. Smilie

thismom, EEK! hopefully whatever is causing the recurring sink problem is fixed for good now.

ank, man I need to get a springform pan.

love2bee, I don't wrap stocking stuffers either. At this point, I have nothing wrapped OR under the tree because either, a, the cats will wreck it, b, monkey toddler the imaginative will wreck it. He was pulling wrapped presents out of packages before I mailed them and unwrapping the paper.

And to my SS, I have not mailed your gift. I'm waiting for a personalized item to arrive and then mail everything at once. I hope to mail it by Friday. Sorry it's so late. Embarrassment
