Unfortunately, I think too many people saw the extreme couponers show and thought bulb let's try this. I had only 3 returns today (last weeks paper) and normally it is in the 8-15 range. Lots of new newbies in some of the threads I read as well (including myself in the CVS thread).

CVS related. . . I got my Dt Mt Dews for the next quarter laugh out loud, my SILs Prevacid and a raincheck for a friend for the Finish (Annoyed that two stores put up Limit 2 on the finish, when you have to buy at least 7 for the deal if only buying dishwasher detergent) and still have $10 ECB to wonder what to do with over the next month.

I've made carrot muffins and cranberry orange Krusteaz muffins, two gallons of tea and have taco chicken in the crockpot. Foodwise, maybe I'm ready for the storm. Praying for all snow though. Ice is terrible. Was in a major ice storm in VA with 11 days with no power (and no water due to having well water) and no secondary source of heat. I didn't eat peanut butter for over a year, because that's about all I ate in 11 days. A shower never felt SO GOOD.

TN - you sound like me.. I have memories of a really bad ice storm as a child and being out of power for days..
Tonight I am cooking.. making krusteaz cinammon muffins, cinammon rolls, homemade baked bread, and some cookies. Plus I have some veggie soup in the crockpot, and lots of drink and chips thanks to CVS.

I was gonna respond to you in the CVS thread.. welcome Wave
Did you get your limit of 2 on the drinks? I went last night and maxed out the pepsi deal, and got my electrasol.. My store only stocks 6 boxes.. I grabbed 3 last night for my deal, only leaving 3 on the shelf.. definitely not enough stock on that!

6 is the absolute max that I can drink by the time the expiration date comes (as I try to limit myself to one can per day).
I'm not wild about having a card to buy something (with limits), but it's nice that I don't need fillers like I have to at wags. I still need to learn to RA as well. I think all drugstores have their pluses and minuses and anything can be on sale at one of the three over a months time.

CPFB started it (with the snow/ice). She wanted all her laundry done, the dishes done, several things cooked that don't need refrigeration, and the vaccuming done. I've done all of that tonight (the dishes are still running) and you said something about 7 minutes last night that I'd never heard of. Takes me about that long to unload and reload the dishwasher, so I guess that's a good thing. I'm NOT good about unloading as soon as they are done and just fill it up thru the week and then run it when full. I'm not a clean sink girl Hide

Ugh. Nothing like your husband going out of town and you getting sick! While trying to care for your 3 kids. Gah. Thankfully hubby is back home now.

The funeral was very nice. He discovered his grandpa was a decorated soldier. We knew he was a vet, but didn't realize about all his medals. Such a shame. And hubby said it was so sad to walk into his grandpa's house and realize how he had been living. Had pics of his family everywhere, no frames, just taped to the wall. Pics of grandkids, etc. And the house definitely showed signs of a struggle, with blood on his pillow and the wall. So very sad.

So much love from the family at the funeral, and he removed himself from it all while he was alive. Heartbreaking.

One very nice gesture was hubby's dad (who was estranged from his father and at first refused to go to the funeral) arranged for the local chapter of Patriot somethings (can't remember the second word in the name) to ride at this funeral. Its a group of motorcyclists who escort funeral processions of veterans. They take great honor and pride in doing it, and hubby got some neat pictures of them.

Anyway, I have the rest of this evening to rest up and feel better, and then tomorrow get back to work. Little man is feeling well enough to go back to school, and I must get to shopping.

House is quiet - hubby is with little man at church and the two girls are watching Sleeping Beauty. Think I'm gonna go in the kitchen and try my hand at yogurt pancakes. Need to use up this Chobani that I got so cheaply! Big Grin

This is a very sad situation, sad the way he lived his life in his later years, and the way he died. I hope they find out who did this.

Your husbands father was respecting his personal boundies concerning his relationship with his father, while and the same time having his miltary peers honor him for the
service his gave his country, his son obviosly had respect for that .

That group by the way is called Patriort Guard Riders , they have local chapters all over the country.
It is a touching site , and a beautiful tribute to those who served.

I hope your husband is doing okay with this.

Sounds like you all had a tough week hug

Ank : Hope your husbands mom pulls thru

GG: Glad to hear you got some relief , might have had a dislocation, that was pinching a relief and popped back into place.

All of you expecting Ice, please be safe.

Dreeme: Have you heard from Meeshee?
Hope your keeping your spirits up, ugg on the bug runs, have had more than my share.

ETA: Somebody already told you about the patriot guard riders .. Hubby rides with them here.

Thanks for the thoughts on the papers , it's probably a perfect storm of both. ...

We had sleet for about an hour earlier.. now the snow is really coming down. I have laundry going.. but it will take awhile before it is done. With 6 of us we make alot of dirty clothes and I haven't washed in 2 days, so we are backed up.. I don't care so much about vaccuum, laugh out loud we have mostly wood floors and I can swiffer Smilie

And on the pepsi at CVS.. I totally understand the not drinking much.. I have had 2 of the 12 packs of diet orange for quite awhile and still have a ton left. I am more of a tea and coffee drinker. But, my DH loves his dr pepper.. and the teens get into it alot. there are only 3 left from the the first of the 9 I bought last night.. and regular non diet ones have a pretty long shelf life anyway..
I tried wags and RA in the past.. I can't juggle them all and CVS has always been my favorite.. Wags is hard for me because of the fillers and because of paying sales tax.. cvs I can usually work my MQ to pay for most of my tax.. I have never done RA too much because there isn't one real convenient to me..

I have really good cvs here, one of my easiest for accepting Q's. I was able to get the 5 finish I had q's for and then got the airwick

If you need more soda you should just be able to back and get more ,if no ecbs are involved , I've done this on a couple of these limited deals, water I think it the summer had no problem. They just don't want scs Like those with three in fam .

Wave Hey friends. I hope everyone is doing well.

Jamie, did you ever get a hold of meesh? I'm wondering how Disney was for her and the family.

This week is going to be a tough one. Wednesday is the 1 year anniversary of my dad's death. Ugh. I almost can't even believe it's been a year. It makes me so sad to think about how much he's missed and how much he would love to see the baby running around driving me insane.

In happier news... I know a lot of you have little ones so I wanted to share my new site. TP Craft dot com. If you're my friend on FB then you've already seen the link, but I thought I'd share it here as well. I'm going to be posting some craft projects that DS and I do with toilet paper and paper towel rolls. I thought all the TP hoarders could appreciate that. laugh out loud

We are supposed to be getting it tonight.. My son was supposed to start back classes at college tomorrow and they already closed laugh out loud
I felt kinda bad, but had to make my son adjust his school schedule for the spring and he is only going PT to college now.. I just told him honestly.. he still hasn't found a job, his car isn't running, and with gas at 3.00/gallon, I can't afford to make that 45 minute trip each direction to take him to college classes 4 days a week.. I told him he must find a job and save some money for a car.. Or, he could try to get all his classes adjusted to 2 days.. He finally moved them around and managed to get 3 classes on Mondays and Wednesdays.. I kinda hate it that it is going to take him longer this way.. but, we just don't have the excess money right now. He has got to grow up and take on some of the responsibility.
I had to pay my way thru college completely. My single mom bought me books one semester and after that I was on my own. I even took one semester off to work full time to earn money so that I could continue. He will appreciate it so much more, believe me! We all want to do for our children, and I know I won't be able to pay completely for my dd's college, but working part time and going to school will be ok.

Have friends that do that! How wonderful!!
Quote from tootsie67 :
LOVE LOVE LOVE my Pilot. I can't recommend it enough. Although, mine is a 2004 so it's getting up there in age. I've had it for 7 years! I keep an eye on what vehicles are out there for out next one too. I've looked at the Acura MDX, the new Pilots of course, the BMW X5, etc.
I had the Acura MDX (actually 2 models) before the Honda Pilot. LOVED them even more, and when I decided to take the payments down a notch I went for the Pilot. Love their cars ~ Acura and Honda! Don't think I will ever deter from them! Even had an Accord before the Acura's!! laugh out loud

Can't remember who asked about the Embassy earlier...will have to look back, but if you want a cool slumber party, I suggest seeing if they have a good deal. Long so skip if you're not interested Smilie
I have never paid more than $150 a room and that was traveling CA coastline. I generally pay $89-$119 a room. I get two rooms because you have to have one adult per room and I have 12 girls (technically I think the limit is 4-5 per room, but my hotels have never had a problem with the extras). Now once we get there, we divy up the rooms ~ ours (husband and I) and the girls next door (all 12).They are suites so I request two full size beds in the rooms, and then the front suite has a pull out queen bed. The girls line up sleeping bags and one or two sleep in the chairs. They are spread all over. It also has a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. I bring tons of snacks and cokes. They make tea, coffee and hot chocolate and pop popcorn all night. There are two tv's. One in the room and one in the front suite for them to separate the tv watching ( I put on parent controls and lock down the channels I don't want them to see on both of them) or one room for sleeping in the wee hours while the other room stays up all night with the food and drinks. I always request our rooms next door to each other (not sure if some have connecting doors, mine never do) and I always request one of the rooms to be an end door. So no one is never next door on the other side to have to hear them giggling and such all night long. They put in your request, but can't guarantee. I always check with them when we check in to have them look for a room. Always have gotten the end and us next door except for one time and then they made sure they put us next to one empty room so technically no one was on the other side.I get a key for myself and two for them. I pop in unexpectedly throughout the night. I really don't sleep. My husband does, though for a few hours. We swim for a few hours after pizza and their special cocktails and then head upstairs. Oh and they love calling down for the free razors, toothbrushes, etc for some reason. I have to put a stop to it after a phone call or two. And tell them absolutely no room service!
After the enormous breakfast, I caravan everyone to a meeting spot and call it a day!!! We love it and I think my daughter will continue these through jr high and high school. All the girls can't wait each year and always start asking months in advance if we are going to do it again this year!! It's easy and so much fun!

I drive an Odyssey and the heated seats are the BOMB!!! Even here in Florida I use them all the time. DH wants a Pilot for his next car, but he's not getting one any time soon. There's something about having both cars paid off and no monthly payments that we like WAY more than a new car.

Cathi, my FIL posted a link on FB for the video they (Patriot Guard) made of the funeral. I think its awesome that these men and women do this for the veterans.

I'm thinking about signing up for the flylady emails again. I followed her "regime" a couple years ago, and even though it wasn't to the letter, it did help me realize how easy it is to get things clean and maintain.

Off to bed. See you all in the morning!

I like cream cheese - but I don't think I acquired a taste for it until I was older. Probably because my mom likes it. She was smart enough to teach us not to like her favorite foods. Smilie
I am soooo not into my kids driving. *laugh* The ONLY perk I can think of is that they can drive me around and I won't have to - however, I somehow doubt that it will be less stressful for me than when I drive myself.

LOL@ sweet cardboard taste

And I like how your mom thinks!

Eehh, I'm 34. Is that, for reals, old?
laugh out loud I don't know. I don't like to think it is since I will be 34 in May.

However, after spending all day writhing in pain - I am mourning my 20's. I think it's my back, and all I did was lift my toddler a few times yesterday. Frown I can't believe how broke down I feel already.

Quote from getgreen09 :
and i am trying very hard not to Blowup at the speed at which we have run through cash, gc, ecbs, rrs -- all resources -- these last few weeks while i have been unable to deal shop. a whole year of effort by me to keep things on track and here we are back in the hole thanks to 3 weeks of careless abandon.
[snip]
in strange news... for the last 2 days i've been getting this horrible neuromuscular pain going down my entire right arm to right hand, with my hand all cold and tingly and numb in places. was so uncomfortable. and pulling pain on my shoulder blade. well today i was in bed and i went to move and heard this loud pop/click in my shoulder. and just like that the nerve pain almost disappeared.

Scratchhead

i'm grateful. very grateful, but i have to wonder what is going on in there. my shoulder still hurts like heck. just differently. wierd.
hug I hope you feel much much better soon. Frown

As for the gc balances - I completely know the feeling. I was getting so Mad because we've had that happen several times over the past year or so - every time I'd build up a nice balance, we'd use it all up on spending for things and not being able to "deal shop". The thing that helps me to not stress it so to realize that is that this exact reason why I had the gc's. Think about it - if you didn't have them and still had to buy things anyways you'd be even more in the hole. You'll build it back up when you can! That's definitely something I learned also. I'd panic and be living penny-to-penny for a while, and then boom - we were floating good. Then back to penny-to-penny shopping/living. (but I do understand wishing you just plain old had a cusion/excess)

I have a similar thing with my shoulder/arm. My problems tend to come from my neck and when it "pops" I will get some relief. Until that time, it's horribly uncomfy.

I know you've got issues with pain meds, but I forget if you can take ibuprophen or aleve. If you can, you may want to do that for a few days. Seems to keep things calm in there. If not, maybe check out some foods that have natural anti-inflammatory properties. It might give you a little bit of relief.

Quote from setsail :

I do need the bxgy ones. Thank you soooooo much!!!

You guys are the best. I'm always blown away at how much ya'll are willing to help. hug

On a separate note. Mamma's with autistic children - are there early signs or symptoms that show up in infants? I'm going to do some research, but thought you guys may be a good resource.

ETA:

I realized maybe I should explain what's going on to get some insight. Mavis has this thing where she will toss her head back and forth a lot - kind of like saying "no". I just thought it was a muscular/developmental thing, but it actually seems to be more frequent than before and to the point that other people are commenting on it. She also does a lot of kicking/punching/and is highly "active" in her movements. I am just wondering if this is something to watch/ask about or if maybe I'm just overly paranoid since other folks are mentioning and questioning it.

She does babble, smile, laugh, coo, and will follow you with her eyes. She appears to know her name and will turn to look at you when you call out to her. She does look you in the eyes also - sometimes only briefly, but there are plenty of times that she'll look at you and coo/babble/smile while you are talking to her. So... I don't know. Just wondering.

laugh out loud I don't know. I don't like to think it is since I will be 34 in May.

However, after spending all day writhing in pain - I am mourning my 20's. I think it's my back, and all I did was lift my toddler a few times yesterday. Frown I can't believe how broke down I feel already.

hug I hope you feel much much better soon.
