I heard they do hot choklit. laugh out loud

I'm tempted to get one also, but we drink at least a pot per day. Either we'd slow down (which isn't a bad thing), or we'd go broke buying k-cups! lol
They do plain 'ol hot water too laugh out loud Which is nice because I really don't microwave water or use a teakettle now because of it. But I would not buy one just for hot water. That would be one expensive hot-water-maker!

Speaking of those fancy machines, I think I'm buying one for my sister for her birthday next month. She really wants one and she totally drinks just 1 cup a day so I think it would be perfect for her. Plus she would NEVER buy one for herself.
She sounds a lot like I was/am. Perfect because we use 1 k-cup per day here usually (occasionally 2) so it's not too un-economical Smilie

99¢/lb won't buy hot dogs here consistently, so I Bowdown that you can find decent meat that cheap, consistently. You must have some deal Evil with a meat guy if he tells you when items are to be marked down.
*laugh* I don't know if it's really decent, but it's all I buy so the family doesn't know anything else. laugh out loud I guess I cook good enough though - don't get too many complaints. Big Grin

For the markdowns, I think I have just shopped often enough that it was easy to figure out afterwhile. Also, I learned to look for what's not going to be the big sell that week or the week befor. For instance, when turkey and hams were going like hotcakes because of thanksgiving and christmas, I could get cheaper beef and chicken. And now that the holidays are over, the frozen turkeys and hams will begin to be marked down. Hopefully I get to 'em when they do!

Hot dogs are ridiculously expensive here too.

Is anyone wagging this week? I'm trying to slog through the thread. I need to pay better attention.

What a nice sis you are!! I am sure she will love it. I bought my mom the Cricut cake decorating machine for Christmas and she is the same way she NEVER would have bought it for herself but adores it and is super excited with it!!

I stalk Kroger's meat department for manager specials and try to make it to Food City for the markdowns too (but less often because they don't double q's). I also stalk our ST for meat markdowns. When there's a q out I buy the smallest packs I can find that qualify for the q.

Ground beef is typically .99/lb on sale (or when the .50 beef coupon is out I will buy the 1.99/lb pack or chub and get it for .99 after the q - I need to do better at making use of that q when it comes out 1-2 x a year!) and split chicken breasts go on sale for .99/lb quite often here. I've found that de-boning them is very very easy - especially the tyson ones. I usually just have to make a couple cuts with a sharp knife and yank the rib-bones off. I'm willing to do it though, but some folks would probably be grossed out. Whole chickens go on sale/manager special for .69/lb - same with turkeys. Pork is harder to get at that price, but we can't eat a lot of it anyways (super trigger for DH's gout) so I just keep an eye on it here and there. If it's been ages and I'm dying for a pork roast, I would consider paying up to about 1.69/lb for cheap pork - but only if I'm anticipating overage. We rarely eat beef also, but I do like to throw it in once in a while for a change from our usual chicken if I can get it cheap enough.

I should admit that I do sometimes buy a more expensive pack of meat when I'm trying to use up overage or something - especially at T. Sometimes DH requests ribs, so I do pay up to 1.99/lb for those. I try to anticipate when he'll be requesting that though (i.e. summer time barbecue) and stock up when I see 'em marked down. But even that is rare and I rarely buy meat without some kind of q or overage involved. I don't know why I have a thing against paying for meat. I begrudge the prices on the meats for some reason.

You know what I wish I had. Creme de menthe and vanilla ice cream.

Does anyone know what tropicana runs at T? I need to figure out some shopping. Ugh.
OMG you must do amazing shopping for meats... me not so much.. I cannot deal with meat and bones.. all too much so if I cook it, I don't eat it... I am a weirdo.. lol We pay $6.99 a lb for baby back ribs here and I HATE it... errrrrrrr meat is sooooooooo expensive And no ST here... I so want a ST!!

It's true! I want to be one of you fancy gals. Sad thing, a Keuring wouldn't do it. It'd take a lot more than that to make me fancy. I'm not sure it's even possible.

Ugh. My oldest took my toddler outside to play in the snow this morning. They were out for quite a while - almost an hour! Came back in, had some hot cocoa, and my toddler passed out. She slept for like 3 hours! I knew something was up. She woke up with a fever of 103.7. Ugh. Thankfully, we've managed it with motrin and tepid baths all day and there's been no so far. Poor thing...

- especially something that's mail order! I think I'd Faint at 13.XX!! If I ever win the lottery (guess I should buy a ticket... lol) I think I will go to a butcher and buy all the expensive cuts of meat. Then I'll go to a seafood place and buy all the expensive fishy stuff. Then I'll find someone who knows how to cook it all so I don't ruin it the first time and pay them to make me the most expensive meal I've ever ate. Just because.

Well... toddler is tucked in and hopefully now sleeping. Mavis is sleeping for now too. I am sitting here and slowly organizing (read that as digging out) my desk.

I need to shop big time... We're almost out of everything.
Awww sweetie!! I hope your dd is feeling better... sending many healthy vibes!! My parents used to love mail order food.. it used to drive me crazy cause they would always buy from Figis and stuff when I was younger and always had the most fattening stuff coming...

Even if you don't win the lottery. you can come over and I will make you some prime rib and lobster...just let me know when you can swing by Wink I will make it esp. for you.. mind you everyone else loves it but because I am cooking it.. I won't eat lol But it smells great lol Sending many hugs!!

Dontknow I wouldn't think that people would spend $9/lb on Boar's Head meats either, but they do. I'll admit, love Boar's Head (I've gotten a sub made one time with it drool), but not an every week kind of a purchase. I was behind a woman at Publix a few weeks ago that paid over $13/lb for some kind of beef. Hope it was good and they talk about it for MONTHS at that price!

Meeshe! hug Missed ya lately! I'll be by about 5:30 tomorrow. laugh out loud And heck, you could make me pb&j for all I care. Someone else doing the cooking for once = oh yeah!!

You sound like a friend I had. She had a hard time prepping and eating meat products - especially chicken.

Kroger and ST are definitely good to me. Don't know what I'd do without 'em. Now the thing I'd love to get good deals on is fish. I won't buy the marked down fish here - I did that once and it was not a good experience. There are just some things you shouldn't buy on manager's special! I wish we could eat it more often, but it's crazy expensive. Frown

dazzled, i was once perusing the ys/gs thread (have never done one but i was curious) and one person had a great "do as you go along" idea. they said they kept a small basket with pricing tags, rectangular address labels, pen and notebook on the kitchen counter top. when they came back from a shopping trip, they put things on the kitchen table, priced the items and put on the pricing labels right away. then they put them in a box, and labeled the outside of the box with what's in there. the notebook got a notation for inventory count and expiration (if applicable). if the box was full, it went to there storage area. if it still had room and she/he knew they were going to add more to it within the next few shopping trips/within that deal week, the box stayed in a holding area near kitchen or in kitchen corner.

that way when the sale time arrived, it was more about just pulling out boxes and unloading. i really like this idea.

slowtech... hug thank you for all your support! the porsche cayenne actually has amazing reviews and has been rated best in class for a couple of years or more. but i do not like how it looks (in pictures, at least). maybe it's different in person, but online it looks like a car with a multiple personality disorder: am i sportscar, am i a sedan, an suv, a minivan, depends on your angle. shake head
plus it's not in the current budget, although things could/might/should change on that front hopefully in the next several months. i won't do lexus or toyota anymore. don't trust em, and the thought of being in a wreck because you couldn't control the car gives me the shudders after this accident. i have not driven a car since the accident: 3 weeks + and counting. and the few times i have been out (for medical stuff) even being a passenger at lights has been getting me really anxious. sigh. i trust hondas, so maybe an acura... or a pilot. perhaps MB if things change dramatically on the financial front. we grew up in those and I trust the brand a lot. for me, it's not about the status factor. i don't care two pennies about such shallow determinations. but i do care about safety, reliability, comfort, and amenities. i love, love, love driving and drive a lot, so for me having a very comfortable car (and a spacious one) with a steering wheel that isn't freezing/burning hot because of the weather, or mirrors that aren't iced over, or a clunky cluttered dash area, is important. you know?

but i've been telling you guys all my woes, so while i try to ignore pain again, some happy, fluffy stuff:

1. i think i may have found my new mascara! holy smokes. Big Grin aside from the fact that i have left the house 4 times in nearly a month, and am dressed in ultra loose pajamas, thus have no use for mascara right now, well, i have mascara! sis got me a sample of estee lauder sumptuous extreme lash multiplying volume mascara. it's a mouthful, but boy does it leave you with an eyeful. has no fragrance woot leaves lashes soft, does not clump or flake, lengthens and volumizes, layers on multiple coats beautifully. still not as magical as the prescriptives one i used before it was discontinued, but this one is close. and it comes in great colors, including a gorgeous blue and a violet (saw those two online, will have to try in store). but i love the brown one sis got me. you guys must try it! it's a brand new product from EL and it is great!

2. with all of you mentioning the diet thread i got curious and went over. skimmed through the last 2-3 pages of that thread but gave up after pain got bad. but i saw slowtech mentioning hot dogs without nitrites/nitrates. slowt, whole foods used to be an overpriced store. now they're actually a magical store with amazing deals on wonderful food. plus they're a well-kept secret. no shelf clearers, and most people don't check it out because they remember the overpriced days. go! and subscribe to the WF thread here. it's a small group and we share great deals with each other. so anyhoo, they have applegate farms organic hot dogs with no added nitrite/nitrates. the hot dogs go on sale everycouple of months, as low as 2/$3. each pk has 8 dogs, making it less than 20c each! i often get the turkey and chicken ones together with beef ones to mix it up. they last a while unopened in the fridge.

shoprite. it's a regional northeastern co-op.

this person below said yesterday that 01's stack, which i think i've read b4 that people sneak at self-checkout, but it's really not *legit* at shoprite.

there was also a little chatter in the printables thread the other day about 01's but i'm not sure what stores they are shopping at. i do know munchkin just recently started shopping at shoprite also, but don't know that she would know about 01's and 14's at shoprite.

the 01/14 stacking rules with x/x qs is standard knowledge for regular cvs or wags shoppers. so that's how munchkin would know. probably true for RA too, but i don't know how it works at RA. i do know how it works at cvs and wags (different for both, but then sd came up with a rule a few months ago that we have to go by what the manufacturer's intent was, and not discuss what registers allowed, so for all intents and purposes on sd threads cvs and wags work the same now).

wish T would get its act together on 01s not beeping.
