Iagree

Of course, when there is snow or ice outside that can be difficult.

Melatonin levels: The change in season can disrupt the balance of the natural hormone melatonin, which plays a role in sleep patterns and mood.

id question whether or not the OP actively works out/exercises. if they do not want to take medicine id say start working out. winter time can be depressing for a lot of people. for me i work out the most during winter and slack off during the summer...not sure why but thats how it goes?

I'm wondering if the exercise is helping with the fatigue of the body and thus you fall asleep and rest due to the exercise...so the Melatonin levels are not an issue...

Or something to try is to take some in the evening to boost the level so that one can sleep better...Scratchchin

Costco and Sam's even carry Melatonin.

I'm on my fourth run of P90X plus cardio, I juice fruits and vegetables everyday, and I eat very little red meat.

S.A.D is a bullshit diagnosis.

Its often a side diagnosis for something else thats going on. Have you tried running around outside?

Often depression due to weight gain is a reason for S.A.D being diagnosed during the winter months.

At night your body converts serotonin into melotonin, that stuff makes you sleepy. When there is light, your body creates serotonin, which is the happy hormone. Knowing this you should know what to do :-)

I think his studies focus on Psych....wow. That's what I have my degree in and none of my professors EVER alluded to a documented diagnosis like that.

The majority of Americans are Vit D deficient. My doc put me on 4000 iu's and there has been a huge change in my mood and energy level. We get Vit D from the sun so when there's less sun (winter) it effects our energy/mood. Start with some vitamins first. Much cheaper than a sun lamp.
