And if they are European/Italian variety, which is often the case as hives will split/leave from beekeepers, they are very mild mannered. You will likely be bumped by bees if they feel you are threatening the hive long before you are stung.

That's a nice thought, but it isn't always that easy. We had bees make a home in our attic and I called many local bee keepers and they all quoted 3X the amount of exterminators because they don't like to go into homes/attics/etc. Also, if the bees are behind a wall or structure, the price goes up significantly. I felt bad, but we had to murder all the bees. The exterminators even take away honeycombs and wash away pheromones.

Important lesson: Put up a fine wire mesh on all weep/vent holes on your house.
