Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Probably if you registered on there site like I did when i was trying to register the computer. When I called them they called my registration up and took my serial number down and noted me trying to register is. Then said try and register it on line in a couple weeks and the would hopefully have the model updated in there system.
So we still have to register it online in a few weeks?

[imageshack.us] Pacific Time, of course. The rest of you can sleep later, or start preparing your debating points at 8 AM local time, whatever works for you. But if I hear even one peep out of my computer before the stated time.....Blowup

Can't help you with IE, but with Firefox the histories for forms and downloads and cookies and other stuff are all separate and can be deleted, or not, individually. I usually clear my cache, download history, and flash cookies automatically but leave the rest of my history and cookies.

Yeah, the netbook screen is rather small. I'm using it at the moment with an external monitor. It's not very big, but it's a world of difference. Right now I'm on 1gb and using Firefox and it runs fine. Also have Chrome installed and that seems fine, though I've only had a couple of sites open at the same time with Chrome. Then again I'm on Linux. Also everything seems fast compared to the computer I was using Wink
I have a disk cleanup program on my desktop. I hope that is clearing up Firefox but I do not know. How do you clear Firefox individually? Is Linux your internet carrier? I cannot imagine how yu did all you did on the outwit contest if you ran so slow. Marlboro really ran slower than any site I open while it was opening. It buffered and buffered. At least you have speed now.

That's interesting. Why would you think you got an older model? It's the N145, right? I think that's what everyone got.
Only because they had my name when I gave them the serial number. I got the new model.

Oh goodie, and extra hour of sleep for me! Personally, I don't plan on much debate, since it doesn't matter if the questions are answered correctly or not.

Did you see my warning to sly6855 if they start at 8AM their time, which is central? That would be 6AM your time...don't think you'd be very pleased if debates started then! laugh out loud

If I have a lot of prints i usually send them to Walgreens, but I have an HP Photosmart All in One that prints excellent pictures. It also has a separate ink cartridge for each color so you only need to change one color instead of throwing out the whole color cartridge because it ran out of magenta. Cartridges are $10 a piece and there are 5 different cartridges, but only go through about 1 set of cartridges per year and I probably print 30 - 50 photos a year, but we also use it for making photocopies, scanning and as our regular printer. I know they are decently priced now, but when I bought mine it was $350 for it.
So you have a Staples near you? They have a website also and HP on their website has some really good deals on printers. I got a HP all in one 8500 for under $100 when the new models came out. And when I called HP they were willing to beat that price but I would have had to take it all apart again and take it back to Staples, so for a few dollars I kept it.

I am sure most people know this , but it is suprising how many people do not. If you press the Ctrl key (lower LH bottom of keyboard) and also press the + key (Rh middle key) it increases the font size making it much easier to see all things on the internet.

How would this be for an avatar? When not driving my Charger, I need an alternative form of transportation,
maybe an old goat?
That's great - maybe it will help me on the little netbook screen. I did not know that. Ty

Oh, but shesays lives in Cali, so your 8AM would be her 6AM...don't think she's going to like it if you start debating that early in the morning! Have you seen what shesays does to those who cross her? LMAOlaugh out loudLMAO
Are we going to discuss the new questions on another site? We don't have to get them right, correct? Are we staying here? Don't want to lose you guys.

Under Preferences > Privacy, just go to the settings for clear history and configure whatever you want to be cleared automatically when you shut down.

Linux is my operating system, like you are using Windows 7, I'm using Ubuntu Linux instead.

I didn't really do a lot on the Outwit contest :o I was there but on clue nights I was always way behind, in part because my computer was so slow. Any ideas I contributed were on things that didn't demand a lot of speed.

You can start all the debates you want, but they cannot begin before 8 AM on any morning. Got that? 8 AM. This new contest will NOT be allowed to throw my circadian rhythm for another loop. I want to be able to keep my eyes open during the day without having to resort to toothpicks propping up my eyelids. So remember, 8 AM starting time for all debating and not a second before. nodnod
Is that 8am Alaska time, Pacific time, Mountain, Central or Eastern?

I realized after I wrote yu what Linux is - you know, my great computer knowledge laugh out loud When you say to go to Preferences, I cannot find that tab on Firefox?

No I actually bought mine from HP about 4 years ago. A friend of mine bought almost the exact same printer this past summer for about $120.

Mine is a 3210

Some people have been going over to the Snus thread here on SD. I haven't been over there much personally.

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2568243

Some will use both threads, and others will just stay here. No, we don't have to answer the questions correctly to be entered into the drawing for prizes....it's just a random, luck thing this time.
To me, that takes the pressure off, so I will just stick around here on the Funny Farm.

I need some advice and everyone here is really good whith different kinds of stuff. I have a Lexmark 2600 printer (Walmart special) I never would have bought it if I had known how difficult it would be! It prints and scans just fine as long as I wipe the cat hair off from time to time but now that I have a good camera it doesnt do photos very well.
I either want to print my own or have them done at walgreens or Walmart. Printing at home would be so much more convenient but Im not sure of the price. I would only be doing about 10 - 20 prints a month. I need something that I can refill the ink in the cartridges instead of buying new ones each time. Im leaning towards getting something that just prints pictures but Im not too knowledgeable about whats availible or what is the best and cheapest way to go. Any advice would be appreciated!!
Stupid spellcheck will only tell me I spell it wrong but not what its supossed to be!!!
I have an HP Photosmart Premium printer which does a nice job. Got it over a year ago for about $40 at Staples after discount, rebates, and exchange of my other printer. I like it for sporadic printing of a couple shots. However, it is more cost efficient to have your prints done for you. You can upload your files to Walgreens or another place and pick them up. Or you can upload to Snapfish or Shutterfly (haven't used Shutterfy) and they will mail your prints to you. Check them out online.

If I was to use Linus for an OS, will that still enable me to use the Microsoft Office?

I know NOTHING about wireless. Have a DSL modem and would like wireless for the netbook. Guess I need a wireless router but don't know what kind to get, and if it will work with my DSL modem as there are no spare jacks to plug into.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I'm planning to start out over at the Snus forum but I'll probably bop over here, too. It's going to seem a bit confusing trying to figure out which forum to be at.
