Yesterday my house got robbed and I sent 3 kids to kiddie jail and one home for a spanking!

My House was robbed by 4 kids. OMG One was only eight years old. The 8 year old boy cracked under pressure and told his mommy what he had done. I got most of my stuff back, but not all of it. I'm out $700 to $800 in odds and ends. Some of the stuff that is still missing is stuff that can never be replaced. I'm very sad & pissed off! Please say a little prayer that I get the rest of my stuff back. Crying

You have guns, nade, missile launchers, what are you afraid about?

I do have a gun, but that is part of why I'm freaked out. I could have and would have used it if I was at home when I was robbed. What if I had shot the 8 year old kid? Frown

It wouldn't have made as much of a mess as the 14 year old?

I would hate to think that the ONE time I forget to lock my house or car, that someone would rob me. My sister's fiance forgot to lock the car once, and her purse got stolen (they went hiking and didn't take it with them, thought it would be safe in the trunk).

My neighbors used to never lock their doors. They didn't think anything would happen to them, and nothing ever did, other than their dog figured out how to push the handle down and get in the back door. They may still leave their doors unlocked, I'm not sure anymore.
i can check, what was your neighbors address?

Not in a pool...in the gravel pit down the street from my house...and not really....it was right before 4th grade...I'd been swimming competitively for 2 years by then...worked on my parents farm...walking to school with my sister (w/o parents, 1 mile) I learned how to be responsible for myself early...yeah I did some stupid things but I always got caught cause my parents paid attention and I learned what things not to do and I was allowed a lot of freedoms cause they could trust me.

Kids are a lot smarter than people think...people just need to start expecting things of them and not just being like...oh well you're young you don't know any better....lets coddle you...I knew what sex was before I was 4...I knew human body differences...I had a slight understanding of why the sky was really blue...because my parents let me watch nature and science shows and never said I was too young to understand something....my dad would explain in depth scientific concepts to me at early ages and when I asked him what a period (menstral cycle) was when I was 7...he didn't shy away...he told me straight out...all the while changing the breaks on the van.

I'm sorry but people need to expect more of their kids and understand that they're never too young to learn how to be responsible!
Moral to this story: If I answer my kids questions about periods they will end up skinny dipping and smoking at 8 years old. laugh out loud

Bet you anything that once they saw you with a gun they would have turned tail and run. Since you should never shoot until you see your target, you would have know it was a kid before pulling the trigger.

Good thing you don't live near me, I should hate to see what would happen if I accidentally startled you. EEK!

I would hope so. Only bad thing is the 14 year old boys were as tall as a grown man and in the dark who knows.

I think that's one of the saddest statements I've ever read.

Hug2 I got most of it back. But some of the stuff I didn't get back was stuff that can't be replaced.

I'm a little freaked out and having issues sleeping, thank God my husband only works 2 nights a week. But I have not been home at night alone since it happened. Cold Not looking foward to that.

The difference in reactions from my then 15 year old son compared to me were funny. He did not want to be in the house. For the next few nights, I agreed to let him sleep at a friend's house.

On the other hand, I did not want to leave the house. I wanted to be there if any tried to break in again. I took off work for several days.

I would have thought that our reactions would have been reversed. I'm a middle aged, overweight, out of shape woman. My son is 6'4 and 220 lbs. He wanted to hide. I wanted to kick their butts if they came back.

Am I the only one who was taught room clearing in HALO first, then practice in the house?

Once, some dude tried to bust down our door while my dad was home... There were no vehicles in the driveway, so I guess the guy figured no one was home. My dad coming around the corner with a Beretta pointed at him changed his mind real quick.

I pulled the shotty once when some meth head was trying to "seek refuge" in our house during a thunderstorm. It was just me and my girlfriend at the time at home (my parents were in Michigan, and we were flying up the next day), and they came pounding on the side door, hiding from view. I was like "fark that."
