$75 too pricey? Yes, I could buy a f/1.8 lens for about that price, and I could get a super nice SD card for the price, but how often are we going to be at sea? And it's not like it would sit in the room doing nothing... that sucker would be used. And usually people rent things that they otherwise would not wish to buy at normal retail. Nothing is coming to mind, but damn it, I know there is an example out there.
Where did you find a place that rents these?

they have insurance that you can buy, $14 I think. Personally, I'm quite careful with all things photo... so I can't imagine a situation where the lens/camera would go tumbling down to the ground. But that is a valid concern.
I see. Well then if you can get the insurance for cheap, I would say go for it and I have no clue why Kate is not going for it anymore.

Here's one, but there are quite a few. One in Kansas, a few in California... and I'm sure there are a few in Florida. You can rent anything. It's like an all you can eat buffet for the photographer who just wants to nibble at the lobster. Won't eat the whole lobster, but just a nibble off the tail... Mmmm, that's good crustacean.

I wouldn't get the insurance. So maybe her concern is a bit more valid. I just want a lens that has a good range so I don't have to switch lenses while I'm on the boat.

Kinda. If it is really bad, I will disconnect everything that is connected to the power surge. TV, DV, ps3, wii, stereo receiver.

But that is mostly because I don't want to have everything go horribly wrong. Otherwise, you don't have to if you have a power surge protector. Even your fuse box does the job to a limited extent.

So, kinda. You don't have to, but I would suggest having a good surge protector.

Thank you, we are due to get thunder storms tonight and we just had it all installed so wasn't sure, will need to pick up a better surge protector. I was not sure about it also cause (i know this is stupid) not sure remotes would lose programing if all was unplugged. Thank you again for the answer

It should just be listed under my activities on the home page, right? If so, I didn't get it Frown Guess I shouldn't be that disappointed since I don't even like chocolate Teehee
Yes there was an action that said something about "Moderation"

I did not do it yet. sorry.

I got all the way thru the general mills survey. Not sure if it means I qualify or not.
Did it say that you didn't? Mine said Unfortunately you don't qualify
Quote from dealwhiz :
Aha! I said I eat chocolate every day too. That's probably why they didn't want me. But in my way of thinking, eating one small piece of chocolate per day IS practicing moderation! nod Otherwise I'd be eating a POUND a day! LMAO
I agree!

Not to mention the frozen food deal!! I bought 75.00 worth of food and got 55.00 in GC's. Going back again before it ends. Just printed the jeans coupon so will see what's on the clearance rack. I love clearance!!!!
Kohls has some good stuff marked down to this week. I sure miss the days of cheap coupons on the bay. Have some stuff on hold...waiting for coupons!...and I am not very patient.
Was in T this evening with DH briefly and saw MANY pairs of jeans for 4.xx!! No coupons with me though. Frown

My radio is RF controlled, and that won't happen. I like thunderstorms, but power surges are real and not just a selling tool by electronic/appliance sales people.

We occasionally have a couple come into the store and they were hit by lightening knocking out everything that was plugged in. So their Tv and other electronics, along with a computer and appliances. Sure insurance will replace most of that, but it would just be incredibly distressing.

Score!!! (sort of) at TRU!!!! Thanks Kootz and RAch!!! I didn't get them home with me because they were out of all 3 systems but I did get a reaincheck for 2 of them at 19.99!!!! I am so glad I pushed DH to stop there. I had told him earlier and themn when we got out of the prison and they were talking where to go (meaning where to eat) I said TRU. He said you really want to go there? It is all the way on the other side of town. I said yes. So we did. Helped to have the other guy along since he said then we will. I had hoped they would stat in the van but no they came in and walked with me. Frown Couldn't find them and finally found pouches where you pull the tag but al 3 system ones were gone and there were new signs just like the old except they say reg price 99.99, $40 off, now 59.99! WTH? 59.99 is the reg price. I went to ask if they had any even though the tags were gone. none. Then I asked about about rainichecks and they checked online to look and etc. Then called manager back over. DH and friend came back to stand by us Frown I know how embarassing it is for him. He handled it ok though. I was very nice to the workers and showed them the pic of the sign (after I tore off the SD part af the printout) Said a friend sent it to me (thanks Rach). I argued that they raised their price and 99.99 is NOT what they sell it for. WM and T are both 59.99 reg price. Asked if it was normal for theirs to be so much higher? Teehee He looked at the pic a lot and knew it was not their store. I showed the dates on the sign (same as the new sign) and said it was nationwide and that I had friends that got them for 19.99. Showed him the reciept (thanks Kootz) and he game me the raincheck for 2 of them. woot not sure when they will come in and when I will get them but I got them to honor it and DH's friend thought that was a really good deal!!!! Big Grin Glad I pushed DH to go there.
Thanks again Kootz and RAch!!! hug

Just get teh insurance and then may be Kate will feel better about it and you won't have to eat crow later when it falls into the ocean.

So much to catch up on, but it looks like everyone is doing well and lots of exciting things going on Smilie

Eric had the flu, and we all felt crummy for a week; then Dh had surgery to blast a really huge kidney stone last week. Cannot wait for February to end!

I made the stroganoff tonight, wasn't that your recipe?? Sooo good!! Mmmmmm drool
Yay! Isn't it the easiest recipe ever? We always have it over egg noodles. I love it and it makes good leftovers. Dh gets mad when I don't double or triple the recipe.

So, I'm ticked off at Picture People. They are under new management/owners and they dropped the online picture stuff. We can't view old or current pics, can't order online, can't share, etc. So dumb! What about grandparents who want to order, and all the business people drum up by sharing those links. Plus, dh didn't come to the session, so I really wanted to show him that we actually got some good pics. (And maybe I wanted to share them with you too Blush ) I hope they change their minds.

Still snowing, now we just need some serious accumulation. It doesn't take much here since we have so many hills and not much for snowplows. Praying hard for a snow day.
