Gum, get gum quick. Eh, to late you ate that cookie, yum. I am glad I have lots and lots of gum, saves me sometimes and gives me that something sweet I crave.
my weakness is crackers, popcorn, chips, etc, esp in the winter. i try to keep it healthy so i only buy the 94% fat free popcorn, triscuits and other whole wheat crackers except for those really skinny breadsticks, i just have to have them when i go to xmas tree shoppes. my problem is i eat 2-9 servings at a time, usually higher # of servings. hmmm, i think i need to portion it out like i've been doing w/ the dried fruit and other stuff. i cannot stop when i'm eating out of the package.
i used to sell life insurance a very long time ago. as you get older the cost for individual term life policies gets very prohibitive and there's a good chance at her age she wouldn't pass the blood test to get the best rates or that she has traffic tickets. back then you needed 3 yrs w/o any speeding tickets to get the best rate. i had many people think they were healthy and the blood tests would come back w/ elevated liver enzymes and it was questionable whether they could get coverage at all. i had one very wealthy person who couldn't get life insurance at all even though he really wanted it and was willing to pay. he waited too long.
in my experience, people in there 20's usually had very little problems getting insurance. men in their 40's and 50's tended to have issues like smoking, traffic tickets, elevated liver enzymes. one time somebody mentioned skin cancer to the agency owner and he didn't tell the client but that is almost a guarantee fail.
i don't know about now, but term life policies used to start at either $100,000 or $250,000, it's been such a long time i can't remember, but that's probably not what she needs. i think individual whole life started at either 25K or 50K and it would be really expensive if your mom is in her 50's or older.
i don't know how old your mom is or what assets she has, but if she does have any like retirement accts, property like an apt or house, it may not be necessary to get her life insurance. life insurance for elderly can be just marketing hype. it depends on your situation which is different for everyone.
i will be very honest and say that many people who should have insurance, namely those w/ children and/or other dependents, do not buy life insurance and that is irresponsible and very fustrating for insurance agents esp when they have no problems paying for it. on the other hand, you have to be very careful not to overbuy b/c agents will of course try to sell you more than you really need.

we never used tide. then last year there was a FAC deal so i bought a few bottles as stockpile figuring it's just detergent.
i am allergic to tide - skin allergies - i discovered. ditto tide stain release. so i gave my bottles to sis to use. turns out she is allergic, too. poor thing, it's been making her eyes burn and sting. and making her cough, nose all burning. she just did several loads of laundry and now tomorrow she has to rewash all her clean laundry.
but sweetie that she is, she said she'll exchange the unopened bottles for me so i can get method. what a darling.
I hadn't realized that about the laundry detergent. Ugh! It is like almost everything causes cancer or has damaging effects.
Slowtech, I too have more of a issue with salty snacks than sweet. Most of the time, I do LOVE chocolate. They need to make popcorn flavored gum or something lol! I love those popcorn flavored Jelly Bellys, even though they are a bit to sweet. I usually don't buy very many chips or salty snacks I love because I know I will most likely eat all of it.
I try to remember to brush my teeth after dinner, that helps with late night snacking because my mouth feels clean and ready for bed. If I eat I have to go through the whole process again, brushing, flossing, rinse.
The one chips I do almost always have in the cupboard are Tostitos Lime Tortilla chips so when I get the urge for crunchy chips I eat those and put as much salsa on the chip and will stay on. I figure the salsa is way more healthy than the tortilla and I will get full faster with lots of veggies so I fill a small cereal bowl about the size of the small Dixie paper bowl totally full of salsa and eat it all with a few tortillas as possible. lol
I wanted to buy some chips SO BAD last night when I went to get some papers. I looked at them for a while looking for peelies but then I did not buy any. I had a roast in the crock pot and we were eating dinner as soon as I got back. I did find a few peelies on the HUGE multipack of Fritos brand, $1 off.
